Was I was the only one dissapointed in not encountering a sea monster in our underwater dives?

Yeah, there could have been more variety in sea creatures, instead of just drowners and sirens.

More would definitely be cool.

Wouldn't mind facing a Leviathan or a Kraken.

If GTA managed sea life.

Don't see why the Witcher couldn't.

Sharks.

Some dolphins.

Maybe a giant snake xD

I get really creeped out under water, so just the thought of seeing two big red eyes in the darkness would make me sh*t my pants.

I can't blame you. There's some truly unholy abominations that lurk in the depths, and that's just IRL without any fantasy being added to the mix.

I would settle for a zeugl underwater. Given the budget and stuff for CDPR, a beautiful underwater session inTW3 could very likely bankrupt them.

As for Geralt's finicial status, as described by Yenna:

"

‘A certain witcher I consider family,’ chuckled Giancardi, ‘visited the city of Dorian recently. I was informed he ran up a debt of a hundred crowns with a moneylender there. The said moneylender works for me. I’ll cancel the debt, Yennefer.’

The enchantress glanced at Ciri and made a sour grimace.

‘Molnar,’ she said coldly, ‘don’t stick your fingers in a door with broken hinges. I doubt he still holds me dear, and if he learns about any debts being cancelled he’ll hate my guts. You know him, don’t you? Honour is an obsession with him. Was he in Dorian a long time ago?’

‘Some ten days ago. Then he was seen in Little Marsh. I’m informed he went from there to Hirundum, since he had a commission from the farmers there. Some kind of monster to kill, as usual . . .’

‘And, as usual, they’ll be paying him peanuts for killing it.’ Yennefer’s voice changed a little. ‘Which, as usual, will barely cover the cost of medical treatment should he be mauled by the monster. Business as usual. If you really want to do something for me, Molnar, get involved. Contact the farmers from Hirundum and raise the bounty. Give him enough to live on.’

‘Business as usual,’ snorted Giancardi. ‘And if he eventually finds out about it?’

Yennefer fixed her eyes on Ciri, who was watching and listening now, not even attempting to feign interest in Physiologus.

‘And from whom,’ she muttered, ‘might he find out?’ "

Damn Yenna is awesome!

GTA 5's budget was also 265 million burger bucks whereas The Witcher 3's was a comparatively limp 32 million dollars. Even if you include marketing, it only puts the budget up to 67 million, still 198 million off from GTAV

The money isn't comparable because CDPR pays dev costs in zloty.

To be fair, nominal income in Poland is less than a third of what it is in the UK. It's roughly comparable to about 110 million bucks if TW3 had been made in the UK.
However, a significant portion of the CDPR devs came from western Europe and even North America, and they were probably not paid Polish wages. There also would have been costs (hardware etc) that would have been comparable to western European / North American levels. The marketing was global, so that too should be comparable.

So...the rough equivalent of say, 125 to 150 million bucks, including marketing?

And some oversea contractor would only accept USD I assumed. Given the size and quality of TW3's open world, It is still amazing for CDPR to carry it out.

Of course, since she makes me care about her emotionally and she fits into the character that I have built Geralt from the ground up from TW1. I prefer Yenn as a character, but not as a romantic partner.

Shame that the game doesn't bring up certain focal aspects that it should, with Triss and others, but hopefully the upcoming content will fix certain issues.

Absolutely. CDPR accomplished something remarkable with fewer resources than what Rockstar had available. Comparisons with DA:I is harder, I would guesstimate it's roughly comparable.

There may be some 'hidden' elements here that help in terms of efficiency, like tools, company organisation and culture etc., that may be hard to emulate for others, though Larian (Divinity series) also produced a rather large and impressive game with a limited budget and relatively small team.

That's my biggest complain towards CDPR, they has not reason at all to introduce Triss as romantic partner for Geralt in the PC game series.  In TW1 Triss is basically a poor Yenna wanna be, in TW2 the force romance contradicts everything Geralt's character stands for (naturalist attitude towards political issues, Geralt's dream and the witcher's path). In TW3 Yenna only be introduced with limited time and not contact with Ciri what so ever. Geralt has a daughter and wife, and CDPR fail to do these crucial characters justice.

Yeah the romance in the game series is severely lacking in decent quality.

I am about to finish Act 1 and was wondering, does starting Act 2 cancel any side quest ? Should I do all of them before finishing Act 1 ?

I had Lambert's side quest cancel when I accidentally started Act 2 (reloaded to do it).

Geralt is not Geralt unitil TW3, his complexity and emotional bonding (much greater than romance) with Ciri and Yenna only shown to players in part of TW3. CDPR does wonders with TW3 but simply it is not enough to present these wonderful characters in an 100+ hour game.

As for the realationship between Geralt and Yen, there is a wonderful thread in CDPR's forum:

Being underwater as it is with those clunky controls caused me enough freaking anxiety. I didn't need a ******* Kraken to give me a heart attack.

So as it turns out, all my Witcher gear was with Hattori. The armorer in Crow's Perch only had my trophies that I had sold. Bought them back anyway since I figure I can just throw them into storage as mementos.

So now I've got all my gear back and a ton of crowns too. I'll not continue playing till patch 1.07 hits consoles.

Yeah, I know that. Even so, the budget would probably only raise to 90 to 110 million, significantly lower than the GTAV budget.

The fiddly KB&M underwater controls do stand out a lot. GTA 5 did them much better, and it was a PC port whereas TW3 supposedly has PC as the main platform.
