It seems to me an invasion by elves would be something he would support.

I don't think he's as brainless as to support an invasion that would disclude his own race.

 

Unless the Wild Hunt don't target the other elves.

Presumably he remembers what the elves were like in their own heyday. Hint: they were generally bad apples.

i've been running into a lot of bugs lately, got to the part where you can go looking for the king of beggars or follow a thief, during the following the thief part the game messed up, it put into the conversation with the first thief, but still left me with control over moving and i couldn't continue the conversation and if i left the camera view the camera didn't move even though i was walking around chasing the other thief.... then it just ctd.

I suppose Eredin would at least try to bring them in the fold before going all murder-happy on them. That is, if he wasn't a cackling villain with no discernable personality traits.

So while they're adapting Talsorian's Cyberpunk into a video game, Talsorian is adapting Witcher into a PnP game using their Cyberpunk rule set. Pretty 'effin cool.

Oh, I have no doubt he's a deeper character in the books. I read somewhere that the Wild Hunt's primary motivation to find Ciri is because the White Frost is bearing down on their homeworld fast. But such motivation is pretty absent from TW3, he's just there to be a meanie.

The White Frost is in fact no threat to them. Eredin, the former King and Avalac'h only cared about Ciri's bloodline. Eredin considered her bloodline at threat to them and the former king and Avalac'h wanted to impregnate her and have her child (which is what Emyhr also wanted). Then CDP retconned the white frost, white washed Avalac'h, turned Eredin into a big joke and retconned CIri's powers.

 

In fact, in the books Ciri her self was irrelevant, everyone (but Geralt, Yen and hand of other minor or secondary characters) just wanted her blood or her womb. Then CDP changed it because for someone reason they retconned Ciri's sexual abuse.

 

And now my disdain for act  3 is rising.

I'm know for a fact Avallac'h explains Eredin's motivation in a scene later on in the game. I remember him saying Eredin is ruled by his fear of the White Frost and that he wouldn't allow himself to fall into the same trap. Everyone and their mother knows why Eredin was after Cirilla, just not explicit plans. Did anyone actually expect some sort of a villainous soliloquy from Eredin at any point in the game?

 

Also, I'm sure Eredin's a deeper character in the books because they're books. A game, television show or movie can't detail a character the same way a book can, especially when we're talking about a series of books vs. one video game. You can look to ASoIAF vs. Game of Thrones for a good example of this.

It's not completely absent. There is just too little focus on it considering the main story of this game is at least 40 hours long

When you find Ciri in that hut you can ask her what Eredin want's from her. She tells you that his homeworld is dying because of the White Frost and he decided to invade the Witcher world. His navigators can't teleport thousands of Aen Elle so he needs Ciri for hat.

Avallac'h also speaks about it, but someone explained it already and there is a note in Tir Na Lia, in which it's explained that more and more regions of the world are destroyed by the White Frost and and a invasion of the Aen Seidhe world is the only resolution. Though this note is easily missable. I saw a few let's plays of this scene and no one found this note. I completely agree that everything about thw Wild Hunt, Aen Elle, White Frost and especially Eredin felt underdeveloped and rushed. That's a real shame considering they had so much potential. I really liked the dynamics between Aen Elle, humans and Aen Seidhe. So much wasted potential:(

And again, CDP retconed the White Frost for who knows why so the whole "White Frost is a threat to Eredins people" was a stupid change that CDP created, one of the many issues with the plot and why it falls apart in the end.

If CDP had just left alone the white frost and kept Eredins motive to end the bloodline because her bloodline was a threat to his people with Avalac'h wanting her child to open the gate, it would have been fine but nope, we get good guy Avalac'h, worse then Coryfish Eredin and the white frost now being a living being that can be killed lulz.

Not necessarily true, at all. All mediums have their strengths, and advantages, in complex storytelling. Something Roger Ebert, never ended up grasping before his death. A shame.

^Hm, now that you mention it... I won the Gwent tournament and finished the game but the achievements for that didn't unlock. Could have been the patch's fault then.
