So I'll fight off Nilfgard in TW3 but I kind of need a better motivation, so if someone can explain to me any reasons as to why they are so abhorrent which I may of missed, that would be much appreciated :)

*shrugs*

If you prefer absolutism, a generally more tolerant attitude towards other races and a nation who is apparently more civilized and developed than the Northern countries, then Nilfgaard may be your cup of tea. It goes without saying that their methods of conquest are ruthless, which is to a large extent evident since Nilfgaard isn't set to liberate regions and install a puppet democratic goverment for them to control. Also a lot of POVs in the games and novels are by Northerners, so plenty of Nilfgaards actions are seen with bad light while the Northern Kingdoms actions are not (to some extent).

Though honestly I find both parties to be abhorrent.

Nilfgaard seems hell bent on utilizing a method of "dismantle and transport" on a a large scale, which is a typical conquest where the conquered either gets slaughtered or sent as slaves into the empire, while Nilfgaard brings in settlers to take their place. I can see it being plausible within key strategic locations, but entire populations? Yeah no, that is just impossible on so many levels. The base of Nilfgaardian superiority is control over trade, and it being on such a scale within the North is a system I don't see working at all for various reasons. A lot of context is needed to fill in what and how exactly Nilgaard intends to follow upon their invasion of the North for me to find them as a viable option.

The status quo of the North is something I am not a fan of as well. The only parties for me to support would be either Radovid, since he seems to develop methods that would lead to the centralization of a modern state which has the potential to be good for the North in the long run (albeit with some problems) or Philippa who harbors egalitarian beliefs and supports international insitution and proto-international law as a working system (which I personally agree the most with but would need more context as well).

I'll miss Foltest. For some reason it felt as if he was the one that kept the balance in the North. With him gone, I'll most likely support Radovid in the next game, provided its an option.

I am a bit worried hos political TW3 will be, considering CDPR have stated it is more of a personal story for Geralt.

Nice! Not a bad way to introduce some of Witcher´s rich lore in three minute video.

I think it'd be fitting if it's a little less political than TW2. I'm sure there'll still be plenty of that aspect with the whole scrambling north and Nilfgaard, but a personal story with Geralt being pretty much done with all that sounds good to me.

Does anyone know if all the Witcher books are available in english now? I checked a while back and not all of them were available so I was contemplating buying them in Spanish instead.

No, not all of the seven books are published in english. But those that cant yet be found on bookshells can be read very easily here as suprisingly good fan translations.

If anyone is still confused, the books are supposed to be read in this order:

The Last Wish

The Sword of Destiny (first two books collection of short stories about Geralt)

Blood of Elves (starts the saga about the ashen haired girl named Ciri and her destiny)

Times of Contempt

Baptism of Fire

Tower of Swallow

Lady of the Lake (ends the "Ciri saga")

Season of Storms (not published yet in other languages than polish)

I thought that Eternal fire religion was monotheistic... but the way he speaks is seems to be polytheistic, interesting, I hope I find this old ''prophet'' in the game.

It's happening:

10890684_915644951806910_1730685778_n.jp

On the 26th January we will get  impressions from journalists who actually really played the game. There are curently hands-on events taking place in several countries. Press get's the opportunity to play the prologue hub for 3-4 hours. The prologue is a "small open world hub" with about 5 hours of content this time. (I personally prefer it over the very linear prologue in witcher 2)

I liked the linear prologue in tW2. It introduced you to a story in a very well done 'cinematic style'  with the best atmosphere and environments in the entire game. It's clear level designers were passionate about it unlike acts 2 and 3 (which are infinitely bland in comparison).

But then, on my 2nd playthrough, I discovered the 3(or 4 i can't recall) segments could actually be played in any particular order, completely ruining the flow. Seriously, who thought that might have been a good idea?! :?

And the lead writer from TW2 is working on Cyberpunk 2077 so maybe the remaining writers wouldn't even know how to do with all the politics :/

Don't get me wrong. I also liked the prologue of  witcher 2. The problem is that I replayed the game a lot of times and after the 4th, 5th time it's getting a bit annoying to always have to go through through a very linear part of the game. Sure you can do the events in the prologue in a different order, but that doesn't really make any sense storywise(like you said). Once I reach Flotsam I can decide if I continue with the main story, talk to the troll, just explore a bit, do the minigames, speak to my friends etc. So every playthrought feels different and I still find new things and conversations even after my 6th playthrought. That's why I'm happy I will get the mini-open world "Flotsam experience" from the start in Witcher 3.

A new interview with a questdesigner:

http://www.geekbomb....-philipp-weber/

Nothing really new but still interesting because the interviewer was one of the people who played witcher 3 in the last days.

"Yesterday I was fortunate enough to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for 4.5 hours (it was supposed to be three. Whoops.) and every second was glorious. As much as I would love to fan girl extra hardcore at you right now, I’m afraid I can’t until after the 26th of January. However, I promise that I will come at you with full force and many squeals as soon as the embargo is lifted! Until then, I can tell you that it’s absolutely gorgeous, the gameplay is excellent and the storyline will get you emotionally invested immediately."

My favorite part because my biggest complain about Inquisition was the terrible questdesign: I hope the can keep their promises.

"But what has been most important for us is the story. We want to have an open world game where you still want to follow the story. Every side quest, every activity has that quality. We won’t have you going to the forest to get five wolf pelts. Every little thing will tell a story.”

I understand. I don't mind its linearity because the rest of the game consists of open free-roam sections anyway and the thrilling fast-paced cinematic intro serves as a great introduction IMHO. The only thing open prologue would do is make it all less tight and intense and it would still be the same on all playthroughs after all.

We'll hear how they handled it in 6 days anyway.

Also, another screenshot of questionable quality. I hope they do this to let us be blown away at release

We won’t have you going to the forest to get five wolf pelts.

That's right, it will be just 3 pelts, however, in addition to killing the wolves Geralt has these options:

1. Axii persuade a wolf to skin itself and give a pelt to you

2. Defeat a wolf on a bet in clawfight.

3. Win a pelt from a wolf in dice poker.

I can't help but chuckle at the irony, considering Geralt is a monster hunter.

Are they gonna take out the monster contracts? :P

Do wolves even count as monsters? I think the point being made was that there wont be mundane vanilla quests that could be found in any rpg.

Interesting. Looking forward to what kind of quests the game will feature and how engaging they will be. No pressure, CDPR.

You can pause the game to check your inventory, but there is no combat pause system. There was supposed to be a vats like system but it was removed from the game as it did not work well.

Personally I am fine with this. I would rather they focused on one system and made it as good as possible rather then trying to make some garbage hybrid like we got with inquisition.

There will be special monster hunt quests, where you have to track down and fight unique monsters (like the griffon from the previously released videos). But other than that I hope they keep the busy work at a minimum.

Am personally having a wondermous time in DAI with 470+ hrs thus far, but do not require anything that complicated to implement. And perhaps an Inventory pause might be good enough, as this worked for me in Skyrim for 2800+ hrs. As I have passed on the first two TW games, I was curious.

Now if they would choose to restrict the use of profanity, this new game could be interesting.
