Am personally having a wondermous time in DAI with 470+ hrs thus far, but do not require anything that complicated to implement. And perhaps an Inventory pause might be good enough, as this worked for me in Skyrim for 2800+ hrs. As I have passed on the first two TW games, I was curious.

Now if they would choose to restrict the use of profanity, this new game could be interesting.

Yeah... I trust in CD Project that they don't do anything like this. Don't want another sanitized game. Actually I'm pretty sure they didn't after reading some of the leaked documents.

Someone on Neogaf described the beginning of the game. Won't post it here, because it's violating the embargo. But it sounds great.

Is there anything I missed? Abundance of profanity? Leaked documents? Is this about "ploughing"?

I'm glad VATS didn't make it; while I absolutely love that feature in a sci-fi/post-apocalyptic world like Fallout 3, to me it feels out of place in a fantasy RPG. That said, spells capable of slowing or stopping time, such as one in particular in Baldur's Gate 2 or NWN, are acceptable to me.

I have been impressed with CDP since they released the enhanced edition of The Witcher. Nobody's perfect, but they seem to value their customers far more than most devs. I also really enjoy their implementation of the Witcher character/universe.

Also, my freshly upgrade computer is ready! Come on May!

Would be such a shame if thaler doesn't return in witcher 3. That guy was hilarous

Personally would not miss it; doubt if many would notice, esp if other terms like this so-called 'ploughing' were used instead. But when a fictional world set in period of time that pre-dates RL culture continues to use modern phraseology, it seems distractive. And it hardly offers the best of what writing and dialogue can produce.

Some may call it sanitized, but would rather use Kleenex than sneeze in my hands.

I would miss it and it would be immersion breaking if somehow 6 months (that's when witcher 3 starts) after witcher 2 people start to speak in a more educated way. Take Dragon Age for example. Everbody talks in the same highly educated way. No matter if you speak to some peasent who probably haven't read a book in his whole life or a mage who did nothing else than studying books trapped in his circle. In the Witcher games/world the people differ in the way they are speaking, which adds a lot to the atmosphere. Considering your example"ploughing", this seems to be more a game specific thing, as I don't remember people using this word in the books. Althought I read the books in German, so maybe I didn't notice it. But the general usage of swearwords was also very common in the books.

So is the usage of modern phraseology, but it's explainable with the lore as there is:

minor book spoilers

Spoiler

It would seem you missed the dialogue and banter in the DA series, as there is a distinctive difference heard in the varied social economical, and racial NPC's in the games. And while the uneducated may not have the practiced manners of others, status does not determine morality, civility, and character. And the frequency of profanity even detracts from the impact desired when it is used.

While those comparing it with the previous games and books may be aware of the loss, it would not be shared by those new to the series like myself. But then, I also try and avoid it in other places to like Forums; prefer BSN due to moderation rather than the lesser and more frequent tripe seen in comments on youtube and other such sources.

As for avoiding time problems, this solution is convenient, if not somewhat unpalatable.

Most of the swear words they use have been around for hundreds of years, though; they aren't exactly "modern".

While possibly true depending upon the word or phrase, this does not exactly speak well of the supposed progress made after such a given time.

So, I guess I'll just repeat what has become my monthly question: Any word on some way to determine the events of past games for the PS4?

If there is no official way you could try a YouTube walk through or read the witcher wiki.

Ingame or no save import at all. I'm betting on ingame solution. Nothing has been announced so far.

Oh, I have the games, I just don't have a computer that can support TW3.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

I think they have a default state, but do not quote me on that because I don't remember where i heard it.

That's fair... as long as you are in the state of mind of "I wish they'd offer a mode to censor" rather than demanding such language be removed. Just like all optional features, I'm not sure if the developer would believe the cost to be worth it (given the programming, writing and voice acting resources it would eat up) but you're free to request it as long as you aren't demanding the game be changed.

No demands. Unlike those that command Bioware to make changes on these forums, I am fine with purchasing the product offered, or skipping it as I have in the past. TW3 looks great, and now has CP directing their Community, and I wish them all well. However, if it contains common profanity, I can pass on it.

Maybe it's just my descent into darkness after playing games for so long, but I rather enjoy some of the colorful language used in the Witcher universe. Comments about body parts itching, something foul in their boots, farming metaphors, etc. That said, some days I'm not in the mood for it, but that's true of many things.

I also love Granny's reaction to Geralt sleeping with Shani. LOL. "I trusted you!!!" And after Geralt tells her that he is sterile her reaction is basically, "oh that sucks, here's a snack."

I love when characters use archaic swear words like "whoreson." It adds to the atmosphere.

Yeah, bears totally don't exist in real life or anything, Dragon age invented them, any game with bears is obviously from inquisition.
