They said no Witcher 1 only character will return (aside from the other Witchers) but there is a good chance they will bring some of them back (I think they were asked about Kalkstein, Shani, Thaler) in a dlc.

 

Well can't complain when the DLC is free.

 

Shame for those who wanted Shani, though personally it doesn't matter for me. Never liked her in the first place. But since we are speaking about returning characters, I am inclined to know what my dear Philippa is up to. She should have licked her wounds by now, so I am dying to know what she has up her sleeve.

 

Even more interested in knowing how she behaves if you had a Geralt who never met her.

I don't think one of the 16 free dlc will be a new character. It will be a bigger (paid) dlc. I think they said something like "if we make a big dlc or addon we would love to bring back some witcher 1 characters."

I really would like to see her again but since she can die I have my doubts. I do know Phillipa will return and I wonder if she'll have her eyes back. She'll have to have undergone a major character design change I expect. In Witcher lore it supposedly takes a long time for mages to regenerate parts.

The Letho cameo is what I'm looking most forward to. Wonder what he's doing. He told my Geralt he'd never see him again, but there he was bro'ing it up with Geralt, Vesemir, Lambert and co. Awkward.

That's my greatest hope for a scene too. Geralt, Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel, Letho, Ciri all back to back doing their thing. **** yes.

Looking at the different trailers, there is a good chance there will be some big fight in kaer morhen.

 

Here we can see Yennefer creating some kind of magic barrier in Kaer Morhen

 

 

 

Here we have all the Witchers (+ Letho) right outside of Kaer Morhen

 

 

 

Geralt fighting one of the Wild Hunt generals within Kaer Morhen

 

So my guess is, that at some point the Wild Hunt will attack Kaer Morhen and the Witchers+ Yen will have to defend it.

Wonder if they're remaking a scene from the books or something. I can see them doing that to brush up non-book readers on Geralt's history with Ciri.

Yeah, the journalists from the januray hands-on events played this section, It's the tutorial area and shows new players the relationship between Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.Though it's not exactly a flashback because they were never together in kaer Morhen in the books.

It's not really just for new players as much as it is non book fans. I mean while in theory I know about their relationship seeing it I think is necessary to make the game work.
