Well if the game is simply The Witcher 3, and all this "our world is 30x the size of X" Skyrim business is just someone from marketing telling them they should do that because it will ensare Skyrim fans, then fine, it will probably end up pretty entertaining then. It would even be fine if our world is 30x the size of X but plays basically like Witcher 2 density wise (although I find that hard to believe still).

I haven't read the books but Cyberpunk looks really boring and uninspired to me, which leads to me believe that Sapkowski is key to the success of that franchise in one way or another. The more they replace his mythology with Farmer Vlad's lost chicken run because "big open world" the less I'll enjoy the game I'm willing to bet.

Consequently, I'd rather they just said, this is The Witcher 3, and let it stand in the Witcher universe with Witcher game design.

Yeah, the one GCI trailer is certainly enough to judge that Cyberpunk will be boring and uninspired and the only reason CD Project Red made two great games was because they had Sapkowkis books on which the games were based.

You obviously know nothing about Cyberpunk or it's oldschool pen-paper system. A lot of people are looking forward to that game and they have a reason to. Sapkowski had nothing to do with the games. Yes he created the universe and some characters that are present in the games and he deserves credit for that.

But the overall reason why the games are so good is because of CDPR. All the writing, dialogue, plot, characters (especialy new ones) was made by them.

Don't know how you can judge a game based on a CGI trailer, no matter if it is terrible or terrific. While certainly Sapkowskis works as helped CDPR in the setting of the Witcher, they are ultimately the ones who created the game, not him. Story, visuals, gameplay, aesthetics, soundtrack, and more are them and them alone.

World size is a big selling point in today's gaming industry. If a rpg-developer goes "open world" comparisons with one of the most famous singleplayer open world rpgs of the last 5 years are to be expected. I find it rather bemusing and a tad concerning that the devs at CD Projekt give contradicting information when they're asked to compare the size of their world with other games, but I guess this depends to a certain extent on scale and nature of the game environment (TW3 will not feature a single landmass, with Kaer Morhen and the Skellige Islands probably being separated from Novigrad/No Man's Land due to geographical reasons). Content distribution/density are another matter and crucial elements for any game world. CD Projekt needs to find the golden mean between too much and too sparse. With their goals in mind, the game world should rather serve as a backdrop for the story and quests with exploration and side activities as the icing on the cake than a playground for sandbox adventurers. TW3 is not going be "skyrimified" just because the devs decided it will be an open world game. CD Projekt may struggle with the same hurdles as the guys from Bethesda but their emphases on key aspects of an open world game environment are entirely different.

The best indicator of the game's size is they said a horse in full gallop takes 40 minutes to cross the map. That's huge. As for Cyberpunk, I was on their board years ago saying they should make a cyberpunk game, so I was thrilled when they first announced it. Pondmith's universe and The Witcher share common themes and it will be a rich setting for a game. It's also a genre unrepresented in the industry. I bet there aren't more than a dozen games done in the spirit of true Cyberpunk.

No offense but if I'm wrong in lambasting Cyberpunk 2077 based on a trailer than it would be equally inappropriate to anoint it as successful or promising based on a trailer. I just don't have any real attraction to cyberpunk, I never enjoyed Blade Runner or it's ilk, it feels like trying to use clever visuals to mask a bland story. The trailer seemed to follow that, oh here's a cool looking woman with bullets flying everywhere, this is an edgy and raw place man. Even GITS which is otherwise pretty interesting is basically a cop show.

Honestly though this is about the Witcher mainly, so... while I'm glad you guys are excited for Cyberpunk, I personally am still on the fence for the TW3.

It's probably compounded by the fact that I've done so many side quests at this point even a few ho-hum things would cause be grief. Perhaps my interest in the universe itself is waning also? I liked W1 but I thought W2 was much more fun. W3 feels more like a return to W1 with Geralt wandering around doing quests and banging whores, less clash of kings and sorceresses.

People are not getting excited because of the trailer. They are excited because it's Cyberpunk, a franchise that has been around for more than 3 decades and because it's being made by CDPR. You can't judge games by marketing, especially CGI trailers.

Yeah, ever since I heard TW3 would be a more personal story involving Geralt, his friends and the Wild Hunt instead of the war playing a focus point, I've been on the fence about the game. CDPR have stated that we shouldn't worry for those who enjoyed TW2 for its aspects, so I have faith they will deliver.

There is a panty in it. That's enough for the sex cards crowd to go wild.

Same here. My enjoyment from the Witcher 2 was its sheer complexity. The way it handled intrigue and politics is just fantastic, moreover, it gave us more choice than most other RPGs do. It was a masterpiece in the sense that player agency wasn't sacrificed for the narrative, they worked to benefit each other perfectly. Though I'm disappointed that intrigue won't play as big a role in TW3, I do hope for some of it seeing as Tywin is making an appearance.

P.S. is there a new trailer for Cyperpunk or something? The only one I recall is the woman/cyborg thing getting shot at with that awesome music playing in the background.

As far as I know, there have basically been nothing substantial about the game since the trailer. Guess they are holding it all back until TW3 releases.

Smart move, seeing as it's likely a large percentage will just move from TW3 to Cyberpunk as soon as it's released. We gamers are fickle things, our hearts are never content with just the one :D

Ugghh. For a second there I thought they were actually going to show gameplay. It's just panel stuff.

Haha, yeah heard about Doug doing the voice over live, but didn't expect it to be that hilarious. Cracked up at "Yo Dijkstra, I really think you're quite... cute." :D

Blade Runner was dull to you?
I don't think you're the type of person "The Witcher" series was made for in that case.

"Geralt-senpai! Be gentle."

Anyhow, the YT video was nice but sadly showed old footage that we have seen before. Thiugh guess it is a good thing, so we will have the chance to be surprised ourselves by the locations we get to visit. And damn, those monsters! Looking forward to what everything TW3 will have in store for us.

Nope. All old material with the exception they say we can chat it up with our friends between quests. I think IGN is showing gameplay on Thur.
