I never found Geralt to be a great character. He's not badly written by any means but he's often kinda just there while more interesting people drive the plot around him.

Admitedly I haven't read the books. But in the game that's how he comes across to me. Thus I wouldn't mind a create-a-Witcher protagonist or something along those lines.

True. I agree that there is certainly a level of truth to that statement.

I myself didn't find Geralt as necessarily compelling by himself. I just didn't see that spark that everyone else seemed to fall in love with. He's a good character, but there are times when his surrounding characters shine brighter to me than he does. Hopefully during this upcoming game, I want to see the other characters help to make Geralt shine brighter, for me, rather than drown him out like has happened occassionally.

Question: Has anyone seen any good videos that happened to zero into the Signs Skill Tree? I tend to run a heavy magic wielding Geralt, and the new trees look pretty cool thus far. So I'm really excited to see some Signs stuff.

In the The Witcher forum some of them hate being forced to play with Ciri, unlike them, I just not want her involvement, what I really wanted is the game to be like the first two, where Geralt is important.

Months ago when they announced the Ciri, I was excited and worried, they said she would serve as narrative tool, but given the book, I have my doubts, and think about it, she is being hunted, It is different from the first game that Geralt wants to recover the secrets of Kaer Morhen.

I see the first two games as stories, like the books and the third would be the continuation of the novel.

Or you can categorize as main character and protagonist, so, In my vision Geralt would be the protagonist and Ciri the main character. While in the first two games Geralt does both functions.

Don't quote me on this, but didn't the developers state that they found Ciri to be a bit of a Mary Sue and they stated that fans wouldn't need to worry that she would receive similar treatment in the game?

Well whatever the case, she along with Yennefer seem to have an important role in the game for sure, but I doubt they will overshadow Geralt. They may be more relevant and take center stage in the plot, which is fine since Geralt never really was one in previous games.

Yeah Blacha, who I think is the lead writer for Witcher 3 stated that she is a Mary Sue. I think he is not a big fan of her (as many other book readers) And  I can understand it, because the books started as a story of Geralt (both short stories) and after that Ciri got more and more "screentime" and somehow became even more important than him. Generally speaking she is the most important character in the witcher universe. Every single relevant faction tried to capture her in the books for various reasons. The Northern Kings, Nilfgaard, the Emperor, the Lodge, Geralt, Yennefer, the Wild Hunt and Vilgefortz (for non-book readers. He was the main antagonist in the novels). If we additionaly consider her powers, which make her exceptional powerful, it's hard to deny that she is a bit of a Mary Sue.

I don't think Sue is the right term, considering all the bad things she goes through and how most people interested in her want a pawn for their own goals, Geralt and Yenn as parent figures are the only ones who really care what she wants. Creator's Pet may be more accurate, but Sapkowski is good enough to make her work.

Sad Enough.

The funniest bit: Apparently, the 16 hours adult mo-cap scenes (of which over 10 minutes will be in the game) was done by an actual married couple... also: It seams that we will not be able to to get it on with Triss AND Yen in one game, so we will not see every adult scene there is in a single play through.

I really like how the mood and lighting varies following the weather. They definitely seem to have made a top notch job on that front. The orchard in particular looks great.

That Ciri game play looked uninteresting. Hope it doesn't last too long

I think its a bit unfair to judge it already since we've only seen her fight some wolves.

I didn't like it either and I hope her gameplay won't be about killing lots of things, but I'm gonna wait and give her segments a chance.

Or did you mean her fighting style and such?

Of course there is nothing interesting to see, it's the 1st segment you play as her. She almost certainly has no abilities at that point.

How long you play as her depends on how many of her 'sections' you discover as Geralt and it's supposed to be up to 10 hours.

I personally hope for a lot of filmic cutscenes and non-combat gameplay during that time.

a ball, all with nice green dress matching her eyes and a stealth section pls

She's the single biggest risk to the narrative. Everything about her - being the chosen one, Geralt needs to find and presumably save her, being almost all powerful - everything is contradictory to how those guys tell a story. I didn't play 2 games as Geralt to have it focus on her in the end. It honestly makes me nervous. It'll take some serious writing skill to pull her off right. Marcin Blacha admitted she was a mary sue in the books, so they know of the risk.

I think the sections where you play as Ciri could be interesting.

I enjoyed the sections of the The Witcher 2 where you played as other characters, like Henselt or Saskia.

Trying my best to get through Witcher 2 before the release. I do have a save I downloaded of the internet, but I think I'd feel more accomplished if it was actually mine.

Just arrived in Flotsam, and figured "Let's take on the Notice Board contracts!"

Then Nekkor killed me at least several times, then Endrega's, then at times they were both attacking each other and I got caught in the crosshair!

Spoiler

Also listening to Triss's voice is just *_*

I did both actually. I had about four complete playthroughs of TW2.

Triss's voice made me want to pull out my hair, but to each their own :P

I thought Triss' voice acting in the English language version of TW2 was perhaps the single worst performance I've heard in any major video game title in the last ten years. It was so flat and sounded like someone reading lines rather than performing them. I'm hoping TW3 continues the trend of having a different voice actress as Triss in each game, and we get someone with a little more talent in TW3.

I haven't had time to keep up with games for a while. Are there any major differences between the PC and Ps4 versions known so far? Has there been any talk about mod capability?

I wanted to make a post asking about this, as from memory they did sound different in game. I can agree that she did sound flat in TW2, however as well, it appears she wasn't the only one. While others spoke with a different volume of voice, to me they still sounded a bit flat. So I too, am looking to hope that TW3 Voice Actor's bring all their emotion to the table.

I'm not going to expect a change for Geralt though, he's always sounded that rough. In fact the developers are doing us a kindness, because apparently he sounds a lot worse in the Novels (clarification on this would be nice.).

But back to my point, thank you for clarifying one of my mind questions. I've just done a IMDB search, and it looks like we'll have someone new.

Witcher 1 IMDB, Triss's voice actor: Jules de Jongh

Witcher 2 IMDB, Triss's voice actor: Jaimi Barbakoff

Witcher 3 IMDB, Triss's voice actor is named as Agnieszka Kunikowska

Again, clarification would be nice, and if anyone has heard of the lady that will voice Triss in Witcher 3, how does she sound?
