They can be of any sort and dont have to be academically successful. By top I don't mean most influential in world history or most intelligent, but rather who has formed your worldview the most.

Mine are:

Ludvig von mises (economist)

Henry Hazlit (economist)

Thomas Sowell (author)

Fredriech Nietzsche (philosopher)

Satan (diety)

And probably a few more like David Hume, F.A Hayek, Scrumpeter, Adam Smith, Larken Rose, Stefan Molenyoux (youtube guy) and more I cant remember (Thats how important they were I guess)

Who has influenced you the most in your life? How have they influenced your philosophy on life?

It would also be great if you could tell what book(s) each author wrote that you liked the most.

I'm surprised to find another Ludvig Von Mises fan on here! us austrian economic fans seem to be rare these days. You should look into Ayn Rand as well. Also Andrew Jackson is probably one of my favorites; for his opposition to a National Bank or "Federal Reserve".

Ayn Rand

Andrew Jackson

I also tend to live by the teachings of George Carlin lol.

Intellectual in what way?  As I can view that in many forms... so

Elliot Hulse, not the brightest person - but has helped me through a lot in past year or so, in relation to life goals/guidance, etc.

Buckethead for that emotional journey...

Another voice for Christopher Hitchens & Niel DeGrasse Tyson.

I'll add to this list:

Napoléon Bonaparte (More than just his military brilliance, he was an impressive statesman and reformer)

Jean-Paul Sartre / Simone de Beauvoir

René Descartes

Oscar Wilde (Has his wit ever been matched? We may never see his like again.)

Thomas Paine (was at the forefront of the American and French revolutions both!)

You consider Satan a top intellectual OP? As someone who has studied all the Abarahamic religions, I don't understand this. Apart from telling God in the Qu'ran that he's "greater than humanity" and attempting to tempt Jesus in The Bible, he has little to say at all for one to consider him a intellectual of any sort.

As for me:

  • Socrates.
  • Aristotle.
  • Plato.
  • King Solomon.
  • Arius.
  • Saint Augustine.
  • Thomas Aquinas.
  • Isaac Newton.
  • John Locke.
  • Voltaire.
  • Albert Einstein.

Newton has been the greatest inspiration out of them all for me.

Us austirans are few and far between, but things shall change. Or not. Probably not. ;)

You are welcome. He's a worthwhile author to say the least.

Tupac Shakur

Nelson Mandela

Martin Luther King

Nelson Mandela the terrorist who married a woman who like to put car tires around peoples necks and light them on fire? Nelson Mandela who was friends with fidel castro who killed 14,000 people (using the other "hero" the rapist and mass murdererErnesto "Che" Guevara) the equivilent of like 3 MILLION people if he were american?

Martin Lither King who didn't care to give his children education, cheated on his wife, was a communits/statist and economically infatile( "why do we pay for water when 2/3 of earth is water?" Gee, I dont know, transporting it, cleaning it, picking it up, pumping it around etc cost money mister MLK)?

And Tupac? What? Explain please.
