So the portraits are color coded?

I'm just curious because if that is the case I might have an issue with figuring out who is who being color blind.

I see in Black & whites and the companion tags a few posts up are not very clear to me.

No, they all have similar muted colors.  They have different color rings around them depending on whether they consume mana or stamina, but that amounts to the same thing.  I don't think you're at any disadvantage.  :)

Keep in mind that these screen shots are kind of blurry to begin with.

I'm pretty sure it's just going to be the Inquisitor symbol instead of our faces. I don't mind that, because I found the old ones ugly and boring.

I desperately hope you're wrong about that. I can't imagine how one image would necessarily suit all possible Inquisitors.

It's the Inquisition symbol.  That one symbol is going to represent all possible Inquisitors no matter what.  Just like every Commander Shepard is represented by the N7 logo.

But not all Shepards identify with the N7 symbol.

Not all Inquisitors will be defined by their association with the Inquisition.

This makes me nostalgic for DAO's custom pc icon, and party icons.

I loved the way you could choose a portrait picture in Neverwinter. Maybe something like this if we don't get the 3d models? I sure hope for something else than the Inquisition symbol. Anyway, if the game does not provide the option, I'm pretty sure modders will find a way to change the default inquisitor pic, but that'd only work for the PC version...

They're classy and I like art deco (I guess it is art deco?) but I think they clash with the visual style of the game. If anything I hope we can customize ours like in the previous games. It wasn't an overly important feature but it was a nice touch.

I'm not particularly concerned with the art style.  I'm more worried about UI functionality.  Once I have that, then I'll pay attention to the art style.

I'm sad that this means the inquisitor doesn't get a portrait, I really liked seeing my Hawkes and Wardens faces. Could they at least give us the option of a stylized nug portrait for the inquisitor? :crying:

i think the symbols will be there to stay tbh, i would like the inquisitors to at least be something we can choose, like an icon selector or something

They do look really cool, but I agree that it's hard to tell who is who at a glance. The colors are just too muted for easy distinction. I'm sure I'd get used to it after playing for a while, but still, it'd be nice to be able to quickly discern the characters.

Also, I kinda miss being able to change the expression in the portrait during character creation...

I'm under the impression by looking at them that they're placeholders and they haven't been created yet. Simply because if they are supposed to be able to tell between the characters the only one you actually could would be the Inquisitors because of the icon used. Everyone elses is too artsy to be able to quickly tell who is supposed to be who, I certainly had no idea whos icon was what during the demo in play.

It was reasonably easy to distinguish between them for me

I really like the art style of the portraits, I have to say though that they do need more color added to them so each character is more recognizable with just a glance.

Didn't they all have different symbols in some old screens from like last October?

Wonder if that's still around.

I am having no problem telling who is who in those images. It will be even more so with a crisper image.
