"I'm so mad at you I could, I could... Murder somebody elses kid!" *slice*
Based on the video, Felix seems pretty.... interesting case at that point in time.
Lets deviate somewhat from the "hardcore fan" discussion.
I find typically people go "Appealing to what I like will be good for the game, while not appealing to what I don't care about probably won't be that big of a deal." Which is fine, you like a feature and think it's important. But defining what is or is not a hardcore fan and who is more important is a spiral that isn't really relevant.
When I ask a thread to STOP discussing a tangent, it doesn't mean keep discussing it. It certainly doesn't mean "quote the post telling people to stop to continue discussing it."
Yes I removed some posts, because people insisted on continuing to derail the conversation.
Truly turned based, sure they've never done it. Technically turned based? They've done it. Unless I'm mistaken, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (the old ones, not the MMO) was turned based. You couldn't see it because it well hidden and covered up by constant combat animations to make an illusion of real time combat, but behind the scenes every battle in that game was turn based game with you and the enemy automatically going to the next turn in the queue. Remember that you decided several turns in a row in that game, up to 3 future moves could be decided, and your character would cycle through them in turn order.
In case you want reminded, this was turn based. Pretty well hidden though.
It's "turn based" the same way that Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights is.
The games run in real time, but attack rounds are broken down into finite chunks (6 seconds for all games I believe). I don't call it turn based though because movement supercedes this and alters the turn based system. If I stop and start doing something else, my 6 second combat timer will start once I start doing combat again.
Note that two space marines in Starcraft behave the same way. They have fixed intervals by which they can attack, and as a result of that you could argue that they display "turn based" mechanics because it's always "I attack then you attack."
I didn't know there was a save import.
Yeah. You can start off with your silver sword as well, as a result of it.
But if the Witcher chose Shani instead of Triss, the second game I believe has a codex like entry explaining that it eventually broke off, IIRC.
