Would've been fun if there was some kind of actions you could do to prevent other characters from murdering other characters. Interrupts like Paragon and Renegade actions from the Mass Effect franchise. Alas, it won't happen in this game...

Unless there's a way to send her in without getting caught

Well, they said that if the Warden romanced her then the Inquisitor will get to see a softer side of her in some conversations, so that bodes well for your scenario.

Awesomesauce. Though, I do hope Morrigan stays as semi-evil as she was in Origins. I say semi-evil because I think her darker nature is more an effect of her upbringing than who she actually is.

I hope we can go visit all/most of the places we could go visit in previous games, that'd be awesome.

I gotta feeling they'l be repeating the same gameplay over and over till the release. I have impression that there is no locations in the game other than Redclife.

We've already seen the desert, we've yet to see a city though.

"I'm so mad at you I could, I could... Murder somebody elses kid!" *slice*

Based on the video, Felix seems pretty.... interesting case at that point in time.

We must see cities! Otherwise where is the glory?

But she never gave him a chance. What if he was about to turn into a small black and white cat with a yellow bag of tricks.

The "hardcore" ( ) RPG fans are far fewer in number and they're the ones most likely to be paying attention to all the talk of tactical options and hear the devs when they note that the combat on display is on a lower difficulty setting.  The more casual crowd composes the bulk of the audience.

Yeah, your probably right. That's most likely also the reason why DA 2 sold so much more copies than DA:O.

Oh wait. It didn't? Yeah it sold pretty poorly.

So the game that doesn't contain tactical combat sells way worse than the one that does...

I wonder what this could mean about DA's audience...

I really enjoyed DA2, but not as much as Origins, and it had nothing to do with the combat. DA2 had far too much repetition with dungeons and just didn't have the same epic storyline/buildup/f8inale that Origins had, though I get that it was never supposed to.

One of the conversation options the inquisitor could choose from was "Release him Leliana" so it does not have to end that was is what I am thinking

Lets deviate somewhat from the "hardcore fan" discussion.

I find typically people go "Appealing to what I like will be good for the game, while not appealing to what I don't care about probably won't be that big of a deal."  Which is fine, you like a feature and think it's important.  But defining what is or is not a hardcore fan and who is more important is a spiral that isn't really relevant.

You say that as if DA2 was only unpopular with "hardcore" rpg players

It had plenty of issues that went well beyond the combat design.  If the absence of tactical combat were the only difference from its predecessor, you might have a point.

Felix looked happier after Leliana killed him. "Alive" he looked like Hawkes mother after the mage was done with her ... Not good

One thing that was striking to me at least was the fact that Leliana acted like a guest character after you saved her which gives me hope that the same could happen to Morrigan and Cullen :D

There was a trailer where you can see Morrigan with the inquisitor without it being a cutscene. Perhaps that's an indication that this will happen. Haven't seen anything with Cullen yet though. I think that there will be a few missions where various characters will join the party, even for a bit. Perhaps even as a controllable party member. ME3 has these, like Anderson in the prologue or the Citadel dlc where old squadmates from ME2 can join you in the arena.

Cullen was with Morrigan and the inquisitor if you're talking about the scene a minute into the E3 trailer.

He is the one in the lion helmet.

Killing the zombie kid is it seemed rather impractical.  Hostages are useful.

I mean, worse case scenario you use the kid to get close to the bad mage, stab him, then stab the kid.  Stabbing kid first is getting your priorities messed up.

Instead.calling them casual I prefer the term less avid gamer. Casual and hardcore sound so petty as if one would feel superior because of being a hardcore player.

DA2 was just a terribly rushed game that had way more wrong with it than the combat. It sold less not because it wasn't 'hardcore' enough but because it was, quite frankly, a poor game (and I really enjoyed it). Origins was a really good game, and sold I'd bet through a lot of good press and word of mouth, similar to how Skyrim carried on selling.

What Leliana did to Felix was mercy. How could anyone see it as murder, the kid was looking barely alive. Leliana is justifiably bitter and acting on instinct. The breach was undoubtedly caused by magic and she was just recently tortured by mages, cut her some slack. Anyone would be angry after that ordeal.

Mages aren't the only victims in Thedas. Their actions have brought chaos to the world, and death along with it.

Anyways, not getting into the whole mage thing in this thread.

I'm really curious about how the knight enchanter works in combat. Do they use melee or a mix of both melee/ranged? I really want to see it in action.

Have only seen a couple of TB vids, and my initial thoughts were how much he and DG looked alike; perhaps it's just me....

^_^

Liked the emphasis on the Tactical camera for this demo, as I would love to let it XCOM throughout the game.
