Dumat? Who ever he is the Tevinter Mage seem to support him bringing an end to the world. Also, are the Tevinter Mages the main villains?

Holy crap, we get it, you think it's a pride demon. Christ.
Huh? My last post was early page 2, your post here is near the end of page 4. Why are you getting mad at me this late into it?

I've seen enough...questionable Japanese animation... to know where this is going.

Thougt that was the first old god to get tainted?
Dumat should be very dead given how arch demons die and the fact he didn't answer his follower in legacy.

My bet is something Lovecraftian with out the Cthulu. Maybe like Hastur or something.
That would be a good change for a bad guy always more fun when the concept is alien.

Yeah. I'm hoping somewhere deep in the Fade there are just all sorts of monsters.

Heck, maybe 'Elder One' is just another reference to them, and the bad guy that Alexius is actually referring to is Imshael, since he's the only confirmed Forbidden One we know of that's running around.

Gonna say it's a Forbidden One.

Could the Elder One be either a High Dragon or simply one of the view really old Darkspawns of the kind that can talk non-awakened variety?

Gods are being thrown around willy nilly as possible culprits. I think its a terrible idea. I hate D&D settings because of the way they treat gods. I like DA and similar fantasy worlds because gods aren't an active force in the world, corrupted old gods aside, and their nature (including their very existence) is unclear. I want a mortal antagonist, with mortal motives. "Stopping the ancient evil" is a drab plot by itself. There's a reason people consider Loghain the antagonist of Origins rather than the Archdemon.
I prefer a mortal mastermind driven to this rather than a demon that's doing this mostly because it's a demon or for some esoteric reasoning that has little to do with anything we could find practical or understandable.
The gods have a active role in the past (dumat, Fen'Hatel, Maker with Andraste), we just don't see it. Like in our own world, in the bible, the Greek gods,etc... Its possible that the mistical war in their realm, tear the veil a part. and beyond our comprehension is making the world go wild, with the help of entities, like Flemeth.

It's Harbinger, back for revenge after being pretty much ignored in ME3.

That's exactly it though, in Thedas we (and the inhabitants) know those stories as little more than myths of questionable veracity. They're the background for conflicts of mortal ideas and mortal interests. Their truth, or whether any of them truly exist at all, is shrouded in uncertainty. That uncertainty and conflict amongst mortals is part of what gives the Dragon Age setting its sense of depth. Peeling away that uncertainty ultimately only hurts the complexity of the setting. The gods have a active role in the past (dumat, Fen'Hatel, Maker with Andraste), we just don't see it. Am hoping to have Flemeth as an ally; not as opposition. And still am holding on to hope that the Inquisitor has gained the spirit of Fen'Herel, and is trying to recapture the escaped Elven gods before another conflict dooms Thedas.

Hell, maybe's it's the Black City. All we know is, that trickster god in Elven lore managed to trick both the good and evil gods of their lore into getting themselves locked somewhere together for eternity. And who the hell knows where that trickster went afterward...

I kind of got the impression from merril's little story that a faction of the Elven Gods...were demons.

The old god spirits were the "Golden Light" of the now Black City. The villain I think is someone old, but could he be a result of the past two games?
