The music is amazing
creepy and dark, very edgy. Really set the atmosphere and tone. Plan on getting the soundtrack.
Can we agree that the music is way better than DAO/DA2?

Music and sound effects are a massive improvement from DAO/DA2, more so the battle theme against Alexius.

So far this is the best music in DA I've heard. DA:O and DA2 were kind of meh save for the occasional track here and there. Still my favorite games, but I always thought the series could use a better soundtrack. And so far, I think Mr. Morris delivers on that front.

But from the more recent trailers and from the demo, I'm relatively certain that Trevor is doing a fine job, and Inquisition very well could end up as my favorite Dragon Age score yet.
I'm appreciative of the atmosphere that Inon Zur created and the direction he may have been attempting to head with DA2, though I don't believe it was ever really the goal to have much cinematic appeal (his DA music seems to have almost always been about gameplay). I do expect Trevor to lean more in the other direction, and it will be interesting to see how well he adapts to the rote of gameplay (where you need music that can accompany traveling around or fighting in combat for an indeterminate length of time).

I love the DA:I soundtrack so much that I flat out refuse to listen to any more of it so it's eargasmic when I first hear it ingame.

The ambient music sounded pretty good in both demos.
That's not to say there weren't ones I didn't like in the past games though, namely ones like this:

No, music out of context cannot be judged.

To be honest, the noise of combat often drowns out the music.
But I found Inon's gameplay music, to use your words, to be very underwhelming. Moreso than his supposed cinematic music.

I need to hear more before making the decision. I am probably one of the few who really enjoyed DA:O music.

Can we agree that music is never better, nor should it be judged depending on how it relates to what the individual game itself is trying to achieve with the tone and expression within the music itself?
No?

Depending on what the composer is taking into value with what the game is trying to achieve, I'm loving it so far - at least from what I heard. Plus, I like to use the words "prefer" instead of saying it's better than the previous titles, since both games had phenomenal scores, as is usual with Bioware titles in general.

I went snooping through Audio's folders and found the Trevor Morris motherload. Now I listen to it while I draw.
I'm definitely pinging you for the location after the weekend!

Bioware's going to have to release some tracks from the Inquisition's OST in the run up to release..

I like the piano part of this song, but I'm not sure if it's really DA:I's soundtrack. Sounds freaking sad tho.
The first minute or so of piano might be the real soundtrack, but rest of that track is definitely 'Winterfell' from Ramin Djawadi's "Game of Thrones" score. Which, while we're discussing great soundtracks by the way, is fantastic.
That said, I really hope the initial part is genuine because it's very pleasing to the ear.

When I consider music is "great" they ahve to be memorable to the point that i'd know the song by name and that I'd be able to hum the general melody, and I gotta say, DAO and DA2 were both underwhelming. DAO had Leliana's Song which is absolutely gorgeous and the Fenris' Theme is perhaps one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed for a video game. But It confuses me why DA would have such great "themes" and tracks but the rest of the soundtrack is pretty meh. Like I love Fenris and all, but I love how he was given his own epic theme while the other characters were kinda left in the dust. Even Hawke's own theme was pretty meh. It brings me back to Final Fantasy who's composers go through the work to compose a theme for every single main character that fits their personality.
But I digress
So far the music I've heard in the demo's are excellent and I absolutely can't wait to hear more. I will agree with an earlier comment however that the reason why the music "seems" better is perhaps because the music fits the tone of the game, and fleshes it out more and makes the situation more real. + Badass tracks ftw. Makes me happy that I preordered the Deluxe Edition which comes with the soundtrack

I really love it; it reminds me a lot of the Game Of Thrones or Kingdom Of Heaven soundtracks, both of which I love. It's a lot more dark and fantastical than DA:O and DA:2's soundtracks IMO

The only part of DAO soundtrack that really stand out for me was Aubrey Ashburn's angelic voice. She really gave the soul to Leliana's song. Otherwise it was pretty forgettable. I like what I hear from Trevor Morris. Guess epic music is much more appealing for me, ME2 OST is still my favourite from Bioware.

The soundtracks for DAO and DA2 were kinda underwhelming, apart from one or two songs. The main theme used in trailers for DAI sounds amazing so only based on that i already prefer the new soundtrack.

I agree. From what I've seen Trevor Morris have made some great music for this game, and although I have full respect for Inon Zur and his work on this series and other games, and really enjoy several of the tracks for DAO and DA2, I always felt that he wasn't at his best in this series - or that his music simply wasn't as memorable as it often is.
