Least Favorite: based on their character profiles that would be Sera, Iron Bull and Vivienne.

Least Favorite... definitely Vivienne (sounds like a more materialistic version of Morrigan)

Favourites so far of thee bunch are Josephine, Solas and Ironbull. But Cassandra and Varric are old faves too.
The only characters I'm not big on are Sera and Vivienne. Sera seems like your typically carefree Robin Hood rogue and Vivienne just seems a bit too cold.

You cannot use any characters from previous games, but you can use Cole if you haven't finished Asunder.

Hey,

 

For me it is a tie for favourite spot between:

 

Cassandra (though I would love them to go back on the uglyfication surgery...she looked so much better in DA2 and "Dawn of the Seeker")

 

Dorian (god I would love him to be straight (or Bi) though - no offense, but the straight male/female characters got the short end of the stick this time, the gay romances are much more interesting)

 

Solas and Varric

 

I am neutral about:

 

Sera (would want her to be straight or Bi, too ^^)

 

Solas

 

Iron Bull

 

Josephine

 

Leliana

 

So far my least favourites are:

 

Cullen (fan service anyone? -.- Oh and he hates mages, so not really a friend of mine)

 

Vivienne (Chantry lover and against mage independence? - not a friend of mine either!)

 

Blackwall (the Grey Wardens have lost my sympathy early on and he seems commited, so we will have problems I think (my problem is forced conscription and forced joining ritual...I would only use said ritual, if a blight was near and only on conscripts from death row! - Oh and all the secrets they keep...))

 

Cole (murderer - don't like him...even more so because wherever he is, Rhys (if he still lives) is probably not far - and I really hate this whiny dickwad...sorry, but that two people he loved had to die for him to see that fighting for independence was the only chance for the mages makes me really hate his guts (yes, two people, his Templar lover did die, only the spirit his mother gave up brought her back (!)...Oh and It took the conclave being interrupted by templars (which lead to all those deaths, not just of his mother and his lover) to get his head out of the clouds -.-)

I don't dislike anyone, but I do have characters that have piqued my curiosity more than others. 

 

Most curious about: Dorian, Cassandra, Cole, Cullen, Iron Bull, Josephine, Solas, Varric, Vivienne.

 

Less curious about: Blackwall, Leliana, Sera.

My favourite is a returning character <-- Cullen

But if I can't pick him it would have to be Iron Bull at the moment

 

Least interesting so far hmmmm perhaps Blackwall, mainly because we've done the Grey Wardens and he seems to me very much like Duncan which we've seen before.

From my favorite to my only tiny less bit favorite (not including Cullen, Leliana, Varric and Cassandra as per OP's request):

Since I don't know most of them yet, based purely on description so far as the OP suggests:-

 

Least favourite:  Vivienne (I'm sorry), snobby doesn't really gel with me personally. Edit again:  Since I don't really want to invoke the wrath of Viv I can say that I may be surprised, I may end up loving her!

 

Favourite:  Solas, Cole, IB and Sera.  Solas for being an introverted nerd like myself, Sera for being a rebel (kinda also like myself...does that make me an introverted rebellious nerd?  It works, no really, it does), IB for being a bit of a comedian (a bit like myself and most people in my life that I get on well with) and Cole for the turnips, I do appreciate some good oddness.

 

Edit:  I just realised that I'm drawn to ALL of Patricks characters, a funny man himself who is probably also a bit nerdy.  Wow, does that make Patrick my favourite writer on the team?  I had no idea...

Purely from the description and published material:

 

Top three:

(1) Solas. mage, fade explorer, knowledge-oriented, introverted. Almost as if designed after my preferences. If he's not romanceable I'll cry. Well..no, but you get the sentiment, right?

(2) Dorian. An insight into Tevinter culture, its knowledge and competence in magic tied to an idealistic personality, while being not at all stuffy nor overly modest.

(3) Vivienne. Not exactly likeable perhaps, but definitely interesting. Political, cunning and power-conscious. And a mage. Interacting with her will be....interesting.

 

Lower two:

(1) Iron Bull. A walking subversion of the typical qunari mindset. I like that, but even so he's so much Not My Type ™.

(2) Blackwall: comes across as mostly boring so far.

 

No strong preferences for or against the others...and I wonder what it says about me that the top three are all mages and the lower two both warriors. I should add that I don't actively dislike anyone.

The only character I don't really care for is Vivienne, maybe Cole a bit too. I like everyone else.

If I had to rank them by their descriptions alone? These aren't so much who my favorites will be as how much their descriptions grabbed me.

1) Cole- Mainly due to his complete altruism thing he has going on. That made him go from one of the characters I was dreading to a character I am sure I will love.

2) Sera sounded really uninteresting in the leak but her description as with a group of people as a sort of network also made a character I was very uninterested in become instantly intriguing

 

3)Iron Bull is what I have wanted from the Qunari for awhile. A non fanatic follower of the Qun to give a different perspective on it.

 

4) Vivienne. I really wanted a pro chantry Mage for balance sake. I also love having a companion that is politically savvy.

 

5) Dorian is pretty cool. I feel we know his backstory without much insight into his personality, which is something I am curious about. I would like to have an idea more about him before really getting into him.

 

6) Varric is very cool, and He is back! I like that they are going to make him not just Hawke's Varric(part of me hopes all the main characters from 2 can come back and get a bit of a makeover they seemed...incomplete) It is pretty cool he is going to be put on a bit of a spotlight himself.

 

7) I really like Cass, and if this was who I was looking forward to her number would be much higher. But she seems kinda bare in terms of characterization. She seems like the face of the inquisition and seems to have very little other qualifiers in her write up. Which made her seem bland.

 

8) Solas. He seems cool. New view on magic and we know his personality to some extent, but he seems really really plain. I feel when I read his Bio that I haven't quite gotten his hook as a character.he seems like an NPC who offers a lot to the plot but as a character is pretty blank.

 

9) Blackwall. I like altruism which is why Cole is 1, but Blackwall has no character background than Warden who volunteered to be a Warden. They say that is rare, but I mean, Oghren did which makes the whole thing rather less interesting from my view. i mean Sigrun jumped at the chance, Mhairi and Jory seemed like they didn't mind(at first) and definitely volunteered. Alistair thought it was better than being a Templar. Since that seems to be his defining thing, it makes him seem really dull as he seems similiar to most wardens in that respect.

 

I don't dislike any of the characters, but some seem more interesting than others. Solas and BlackWall seem boring at this phase but certainly not unlikeable.
