As a longtime player of City of Heroes, I'm finding it quite difficult to get past the fact that the Inquisitor's "default" helmet is the same one Lord Recluse wears. It adds even more to the villain protagonist vibe - I hope I can remove the thing very quickly and use something else.
technically that helm design is a pretty standard medieval helmet, its been used all over, also the one in the trailer is much more open than recluse's.
as far as being able to switch it out i'm pretty sure you can hide it out of combat and in cinematics...
You can also play a Qunari. Apparently they don't do hats.
Generally the moment you get control of the character you can start taking things off and they said that it won't take long to get in to actual game play, not always wise if you don't have anything better but it is an option, likewise starting equipment usually depends on class so I would wager only a warrior would get that helmet to start. I remember DA 2 had a hide helmet mode that allowed the stat bonus but hid the helmet unless you were in the inventory menu so maybe the will bring that back.
Well as soon as I take control, that helmet is getting melted down into Lord Recluse action figures to hand out to my party members.

That helmet however is very ugly IMHO (if you are talking about that warriors helmet from the trailers) and I will not be seen wearing that for long (till I get something better - not a minute longer)...
