Recently I have noticed that several posters are talking about leaving the forums for a little while in order to avoid too many spoilers.  I was wondering if the mods had considered splitting the Inquisition forums in the next few weeks?  I was referring to the style like much of your older games, where there is a no-spoilers section.   That way, the forum posters that want to stick around and avoid knowing too much about what's to come can feel comfortable staying, and those of us that don't care about spoilers can have another place to hang out. :)

Edit: I'm adding this to the OP, because I think this is a pretty good idea as well.

Me too please. Even if it's just a pinned thread. I won't be able to play until about two weeks after release date, so it'd be really great.

It's a good idea. I've had to really debate opening threads at this point just because they might be filled with spoilers. It's why at this point I only go into a few threads anywhere - to not learn plot spoilers, which sometimes are unavoidable as someone blurts something out.

I've got some folks that I love talking to that I don't want to see leave just so they can avoid spoilers in peace.  I figure that this might be a solution to that.   :)

Why not just make a spoiler free sub- forum? I doubt the majority of posters here care about them. Having everyone go to the spoiler forum seems like a hassle.

Yep. It's one of the reasons I don't even glance at the Story boards.

This part of the board is (semi) safe, just because its usually mechanics discussions. Which is really all I'm interested in.

That could work too. And easier for people who aren't regulars to better come to grips with.

Hey, I'm open to ideas.  I can change the OP if you guys would prefer?

I changed the thread title, since this is a better description.  Thanks for the heads up guys.   :)

What would people talk about on the sub-forum? Just curious, but if you don't know anything about the game, it just goes back to the speculation we were doing a year ago doesn't it? Not saying it's a bad idea, just don't understand how it would work.

Still waiting for the Lore sub-forum too :P

Sounds great.  I'd actually hoped to avoid knowing who the LIs, but it's so tempting...

I support this idea! It would be really nice for the people who won't have a chance to play the game immediately.

I was imagining just posting lots of pictures of myself crying.

But really, just anywhere for people like me who won't be able to play straight away (and people who are already trying to avoid spoilers) to hang about talking about how badly we want to play would be nice. If Bioware doesn't want a sub-forum for it, I'll make my own thread closer to release. No biggie.  ^_^

Am I the only one that remembers when they did this and trolls put spoilers in the thread titles?

And how do you expect them to regulate it? And who declares what a spoiler is and not? Since I have seen some claim just putting a name to a character is a spoiler.

Its a nice idea but I also see it as a waste or resources.

I would definitely like that. I was thinking I'd stop coming here soon. Plus I muted the redcliff demo to avoid spoilers. There's already just way too many spoilers around. At least for me.

I actually like this idea way better. It makes more sense than not having spoilers in Scuttlebutt or not letting people discuss everything that's come out about characters in the Story/Character forum.

That's why I changed the title.  I thought it was a much better idea as well.

BioWare typically does thus at release. According to them, nothing contained within the marketing materials constitutes a spoiler.

Which is absurd, of course, but it raises a difficult question:

What does constitute a spoiler?

My definition is extremely broad; I think even the names of the companions are spoilers. I would prefer to know only the starting conditions of the game, and the mechanical rules under which it will be played. That way, every single event in the game is something to which I can have an honest reaction, untainted by foreknowledge.

But I know my definition isn't broadly shared.

Too late for me... *coughs blood* the few of you that remained unspoiled must survive... Find shelter, quickly!

Seriously though, you can't seem to approach the forums these days without seeing someone put up everything you don't want to know as a topic title. Good idea, wish they did this before releasing the demo info.

But it's certainly not unique. My history of gaming has always been inversely related to what I know about any aspect of the story beforehand.

It seems like a good idea, but I  wonder what would be discussed in the non-spoiler forum? (sort of new to the BSN & game forums in general)

I do know that I will have to stop looking at the forums from 7th october until I finish the game

To some, everything beyond:

"Dragon Age Inquisition: A follow up to Dragin Age II set in the world of Thedas" is a spolier.

To those individuals, the BioWare forum is not the place for you (or any game-related site).

What BioWare are putting out there counts are marketing teasers and should not be counted as spoilers

as essentially they are a trailer for the game.

Slightly more spoiler-like are the Q&A's about love interests which the fans are demanding

that do give pre-knowledge of relationship possibilities without affecting plot.

If they are an issue, the BioWare forum is again not the place for you.

The highest level of spoiler would be when some moron posts a walkthrough of the whole game onto youtube a week before game release.

After Oct 7 I would expect spoiler headings to be strictly used, though I won't he here then I will be in Thedas  :D

Things like mechanics. Systems. How the game actually plays. How you fight. How you talk. Things like that.

The things that matter to people like me, who prefer to not know what NPCs can be companions, let alone what the overall story is for the game or who we can romance.

Heck, if they even made a "Gameplay and Mechanics" sub forum, that would be okay. I've been spoiled way more than I usually am for a game, in part because the Survey leak back in Fall 2012 was declared to be bogus by David Gaider (and, therefore safe for me to read spoiler free) but has since turned out to be 100% accurate in terms of companions, plot and story. Which is unfortunate.

And for those who want to make their purchasing decision based on the game itself? And not just blindly buying to because it is a Bioware game? What would you suggest someone like that to do?
