Hello, Bioware!  First off, thanks for making some of the best RPGs and taking me on some of the best adventures I've ever been on!  I already purchased the Inquisitor's Edition, and I am looking forward to the journey!

I do have some feedback on animations, though.  So far, everything looks good for the most part, but I've noticed a few things.

- While out exploring and running around Thedas, have the characters move around and animate as if they are actually running on terrain.  The ground is often never flat and perfect and level, yet characters seem to have the same stride running up hill as they do in a vast flat area.

- Weapons floating magically on the backs on characters just takes so much from the immersion factor.

- Characters seem to just have a "eyes straight forward" look to them.  When idle or when running around in party, they don't seem to be viewing the world around them.  Most people in real life would be looking around, glancing at a tree or person as you run by.  So on.

- Animations for opening doors, chests, picking locks (I noticed the lock-picking animation in the E3 Part 2 Gameplay demo, stuff like that is awesome!)

- A day/night cycle would be pretty amazing!

Just a few things, but they were currently on my mind so I figured I'd share them.  Thanks!

1, i totally agree, this is something I loved in the last of us *completely different game I know but still* was that the level of ground totally affected all sorts of movemnts, I know a couple other games also implemented this.

2, While the weapons floating on their backs is weird to say the least, it's the best they can do in my opinion, though clipping annoys me to no end I'm sure they have their resources better placed. At least one handed swords are placed on the hip now.

3, I agree too, it would breathe some life into them.

4, I think we'll be seeing more of these as hinted by the demo

5, They've announce already that they won't have a seamless day/night cycle but they'll have some form of a way to control it, probably a la DA2 but better.

In conclusion, Whiel I would love all of these things, I'm sure they ahve their resources better placed, though animations would give the game a cleaner and more lively immersive feel, but we can only wait until the final game is released when they fix all of the bugs and knacks.

Looking into the air blankly while talking to someone has been DA's staple unfortunately. It's back in DA:I. And no day/night cycle either. Their excu... err... I mean reason is that they want to preserve the feel of that environment.

1. I agree. However, we have already seen that the characters' movement animations do change to reflect the changing elevations or terrain types, such as running up a hill or walking through mud.

2. We are in agreement once more. The floating weapons and shields are a minor pet peeve and aren't something that I am too bothered about, but it is something that would further enhance immersion if it were fixed. I understand why floating weapons are beneficial and make sense from a development standpoint, but it would still be neat to see a fix of some kind in a future instalment.

3. The "dead stare" has been a critique levelled against BioWare games for a while, and it would be neat to see some more lively and varied idle animations. I'd also like to add that, if a character has no presence in the conversation, that the character should be doing something other than awkwardly standing behind the protagonist.

4. Yeah, as you mention, we've seen lockpick animations in the demo. More of this stuff would be neat but I don't mind either way.

5. I don't mind the lack of a day/night cycle at all. They explained it's absence as them wanting each area to feel right and to have the correct atmosphere. I'll take that over a day/night cycle. I wouldn't mind if it were present, but the lack of it doesn't bother me.

Animations DO change depending on the angle and type of the terrain if you pay attention to it.

Not every characters stood woodenly in DA2.   Fenris and Merrill were continually checking their feet and I was constantly thinking "If you don't like treading in stuff, then get shoes."  Sometimes people doing stuff while you are talking can be distracting.

I noticed that.  They do and they don't.  Some terrain they would, but then I noticed the female Qunari Inquisitor descend down a hill it was more or less the same base animation.  But so far its looking like they are heading in the right direction, animation wise!

It seems a lot of work to animate them running properly through Thedas. I quite understand it is too much work for the result we get.

I would gladly want them to animate more conversations/dialogues instead.

Too much work for the result?  The result being that it doesn't look terrible?  This game is supposedly AAA, competing against some incredible looking games in the near future.  Animations should be a top priority.

That is your opinion. My opinion is that the animations look good enough, and they should focus on more content instead of polishing an already good secuence or animation.

Neither of us is right, and Bioware will end up doing whatever they think is best, since you know, it's their game.
