Indy or otherwise? Doesn't really seem to be a lot on offer this year, any currently released games you feel worth checking out?

They're definitely not for everyone, that's for sure. They're cheap, and everything reflects that. The animations suck. It makes u extremely weak at the beginning, and everything can kill you. And you have to spend a decent amount of time to even get remotely powerful. But once you get to that point you're pretty much invincible. Again it's super cheap, and definitely looks like a budget game. But it's got a decent amount of content, and I admit I found the world kind of interesting. Don't get me wrong. It's not like the witcher, or anywhere near that fleshed out. But still. I'd be lying if i said I didn't like the second one. It's a pirate rpg, which definitely isn't the most common setting. There's a good chance you'll hate it, but personally I'd recommend at least looking up some gameplay on YouTube. I enjoyed my time with it a lot more then I should've.

Hahaha very true. They haven't exactly been the best games out there. Still though, SOM still looks pretty amazing.

^Battle for Middle Earth wasn't half bad at all. Though there were some glaring balance issues.

Off the top of my head...nothing I'm really interested in comes out till October or later.

Well, Danganronpa 2 comes out in September, so I guess there is that.

I never enjoyed driving McLaren F1, Koenigsegg and similar super-cars in racing games. They were absolutely annoying to drive. Porsche 911, BMW (M3, Z4, Z9), Mazda, Nissan and similar level of cars on the other hands were fantastic.

I'm hoping that Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will turn out well; for all of its flaws, I absolutely loved the first game, and the sequel will have a level editor, so I suppose that if I don't like the game's levels, I can always just make my own.

Space sims are making a comeback if that's what you're into. Elite: Dangerous begins Beta at the end of this month. Pretty much every reviewer has been stunned by it.

Well, there's Dragon Age: Inquisition... Other than that, I'm not sure about future releases.

There's a really good, short game I know of, that was released late May() called Always Sometimes Monsters. Don't let the pixel graphics fool you, it's very good. Some of the graphics were done very well, I think. It took me only 17/18 hours to play - with a couple of those hours restarting the game. The game is all about the choices you make. It's a very deep game. You don't get to customise your character, but you do get to choose who you are from a list of characters (through seemless gameplay, which initially I had no idea was supposed to be my character) with varying races and both genders. The same goes for your love interest, whom is the main plot device.

Got it off Steam for about 10 clams. As far as I know, it's only available on PC.

Same thing with Alien: Isolation being the best Aliens game.

Why is it so hard to make good games out of great IPs? :\

^Often great IPs have some very very unique niche that often sounds boring on paper when developing a video game.

Like say, Aliens: Colonial Marines is floppy just on it's concept. In the film, the marines were seen as gung-ho cocksure killers who immediately got slaughtered when they start hitting the deck. With the marines gone, Ripley is now isolated (pun intended) with a threat that could easily kill her. Her chances seem to be much more bleak compared to the marines as she is powerless compared to both the aliens and the marines themselves. So she must rely on wit and cunning to make it through. This style of game reflects more closely to Amnesia than some random military shooter.

EDIT: Crap, it didn't help the game any further when they start sending in mercenaries to fight you.

I got this, and it seems a good racing game:

It's from 2009, so it's graphic is like GTA IV and Saint Row 2.

You're right. The main draw of the movies wasn't "cool" enough for the game industry. Where most Alien games go wrong is that they play like your run-of-the-mill military shooter. They fail to give off that sense that you are facing off against lightning-fast alien monsters who can tear you apart if you look the other way for just a second.

The xenomorphs in the latest game play like fast headcrab zombies from HL2 reskinned. Jolt-y at first but then, silly after a while.

I'm mostly just looking forward to niche japanese stuff. All the big western titles I want like dragon age and far cry aren't appearing until october and that's ages away.
