Yes the third dragon age game should have been a comic. You heard it here first folks.

I prefer the current style. The models in the past looked super duper generic, doll-like. The typical "attractive female videogame character". The face shapes of different female characters didn't even differ too much. The guys differed a tiny bit more, but mhe. Wasn't too great either (the beards helped I guess).

Not all girls have narrow jaws, or doll-like skin without any beauty spots. I mean look at Merril and Isabella in that picture above: Their faces differ just in minimalistic aspects (Merril's eyes are a bit bigger, her nose slightly slimmer, the chin is just in a minimalistic way sharper, etc.). The only real and powerful difference was their skin color, their hair and Merril's tattoos. Nothing of that has to do with their facial structure.

Right now they're looking like real people (minus the hair, it is still kind of bad I think). I especially love Cassandra's face shape. It's just so real, I haven't seen too many female characters with such a hard face shape, even though I am seeing it everywhere in real life! I see girls with big cheekbones, broad jaws, or big noses everywhere and they look pretty in their own special way. Not so much diversity in video games though.

The characters right now look unique, but not mannequin-like-idealistic (like in the previous games).

I think that's why I find the current models ten thousand times more attractive and appealing. You look at them and you see a character with a personality, not some boring fairytale beauty.

The hair of this character

You want to talk about hair?

Because the rest of your stuff is nonsense, but yes, I am worried about the hair in this game.

Hit the nail on he head, I think.

I love how diverse the female characters are. Though I do kinda wish one was actually ugly (even Cassandra's scars are as non-disfiuring as she can get while still looking cool.)

EDIT: The hair is a problem. But when has it not been? I'm used to it by now.

Well i'd better have a typical "attractive female videogame character", that's a video game after all.

I see girls with big cheekbones, broad jaws, or big noses everywhere and they look pretty in their own special way.

Sure it's great to have charcters such as these, but i would like to have at least one that looks not like them.

I am sure that one of the first PC mod to come out will be the ones to improve faces and hair.

So I hope that Bioware does something about it before the release of the game, because I want to play on consoles :)

I am sure that the improvements of the modders will not change the nature of the characters, making them certainly the most fascinating.

Just like in Dragon Age Origins.

p.s. The hair is just a detail to laugh a little, since we are in 2014 and I would expect better from those who have made the faces of Mass Effect.

If Dragon Age Inquisition was developed as a sort of cartoon would not have been better?

DAIHuman.jpg

Cell shaded comic style? I might tick people off with this, but if a DA was made so that exact image was the in-game graphics to the point of that being an actual screenshot... I would be quite happy.

Contrary to DAO, DAI will not be mod friendly.

Every companion is either bald or has short hair. We haven't seen a single NPC in the demos with even shoulder length hair.

Even if it doesn't move, I would LOVE hair like the brunettes for the PC.

Yeah, EA doesn't want to give people the ability to mod Frostbite easily, because of some BS, so it might be less mod friendly than DA2.

There will be mods, but hardly any, let alone actual good ones.

Josephine? Not really. I have to say she was my last hope.

Leliana looks good. No doublt about that. Too bad she is not romanceable.

Leilana.

Leliana is probably going to wear that hood all the time and never take it off.

And yeah, like I said, I'm used to it. I dealt with three Mass Effect games where no one's hair went past their shoulders unless they were super special, I can deal with Inquisition if that's the case.

It's not only negative one of the first things people requested when Vivienne was revealed was a fair skin mod.

Sera has a baby face, and Cassandra looks outright hideous. Both Leliana and Morrigan have aged well but they messed up Cassandra pretty bad, she looked a lot better in DA 2. Josephine looks nice, maybe because she looks Indian to me with the skin colour, the black hair and the more rigid facial features.

I find most of the characters quite attractive (particulary cass), although i've never seen the appeal of romances. I don't see whats wrong with the hair. Anyway, different people have different opinions.

The character designs are fine, some of them look pretty good. But compared to character designs from some other games, they're not that great I'll be honest.

What I always find curious about Threads like these is that they never really seem to take into Account that People might have different Tastes.

I, for example, as a straight white male (so you have a demographic to compare and stuff), think Vivienne is easily the most beautiful female Character we have so far seen in any Dragon Age Game. What if I open a Thread like this and say "Everyone should be satisfied because Vivienne looks gorgeous"? Is my Opinion then, too, universally applicable like the Ones of Posters like these?

For example, these modded Leliana and Morrigan the OP posted look absolutely hideous to me. Does this mean, everyone at least of my demographic should think so? Because I think everyone should think these modded Versions are hideous.

Also, if DragonAge would suddenly adapt to a Comic Style, I would not buy the Game. It would just be stupid and a Dealbreaker to me. That, of course, means everyone else should think the same Way. *cough*

In the End, this is just a Complainer Thread among thousands. Can't People just accept that they have different Tastes and leave it there? I mean, I do not find Cassandra particularly attractive because I like more ... let's say "fragile" Women more, but I don't cry over it. I also don't like Sera since she gives me a really piggish Feel when I look at her Face - i don't complain anyways. I wouldn't even cry over it, if it didn't think Vivienne and Josephine would easily top every Leliana and every Morrigan. I would just accept that my tastes were not accomodated, while others were. End of Story.

TLDR - don't cry over things not matching your tastes, because they match the Tastes of others. If your tastes were accomodated, those of the others wouldn't have been at that would just be as bad. And if you demand it anyways, you're egoistic and a (not very nice Word here).

The Character Designs are great, when we step away from tastes, though. They aren't the best in the Industry, but they have turned out stunning anyways.

See, not personally being attracted to the characters is one thing. Asking for BioWare to "fix" it is ****** ridiculous.
