Yes, it is egoistic to tell them to only listen to your point of view and make changes based on that. You aren't representing anyone. And if you are somehow representing a particular group there are also enough gamers out there, as this thread clearly shows, who don't think the characters look ugly or wrong. So why should Bioware listen to you and not to people like me who are happy that the characters in the game don't look like supermodels as in so many other games out there?

And no, you didn't just give some info you posted that they should just listen to people like you pushing aside everyone who doesn't have the same views as you do, which makes it an egoistic request.

Your own comment:

"If they can change something minor that can be important for a part of the players, why not?"

It doesn't matter if something "minor" is important to you and you want it to be changed. There are enough people who don't agree with you and who don't want this "minor" detail to be changed, namely we don't want characters to be prettified to the point they no longer look human but instead, once again as in many games, look photoshopped. Just look at the Witcher 3 the game looks pretty good but once again the characters look way too good, less realistic (imo) than they do in DAI. The graphical quality may be better in the Witcher 3 but they still seem to lean heavily on making the characters look like supermodels as so many developers do. We are being lied enough in our lives by the media and for once it is nice to see some more realistic looking characters, bar the hair.

You are overreacting. Where did I say devs to listen only me(can you imagine this? this is laughable  )

I can't say Witcher characters look way too good.  They look good.

Once again BSN picks and chooses with the realism argument.

Missed the point. This is not about to go and tell devs "go change this, go change that", it's about to make them know, that some part of " straight males with unrealistic expectations of beauty" which are by chance huge chunk of their customers. are not pleased with their female characterts art direction.

Have you conducted research to determine that a huge chunk of their customers aren't too pleased with the female characters art direction in DAI? I doubt you have.

rule of bsn, everything in the past was the best, and everything upcoming or current is the worst until it becomes the past when something new is revealed, which then becomes the new worst

You specifically stated the developers should listen to people like you to change minor parts of the character design to make the characters more beautiful. You constantly act as if you speak for a group of people and don't seem to own up to your own statements. You only speak for yourself alone, nobody made you the spokesperson of a group of people who don't like the character design.

I am done with this. There is no point in discussing these type of topics if people refuse to own up to their own comments and if they keep continue to act they speak for the majority or for a very large group of people. It is fine to criticize something but never act as if you speak from an objective point of view or as if you speak for anyone but yourself.

I think Josephine beats even modded DA:O/DA2 characters in terms of "Attractiveness" and I like Sera more than her closest comparison Merill, but that might just be because the Face Tattoos bug me to no end.

Morrigan in particular is the hardest to make a judgement on, in some light she looks absolutely disgusting in both DA:O-DA:I but in other light, she looks phenomenal in both. (With DA:I winning out in the end I believe)In a similar vein, Vivienne looks pretty bad sometimes, but she looks really good at other times. How shadows are cast off the face play a big role in how faces are perceived, so it's not really surprising that lighting determines a lot.

I can't make a call on Leliana is she's always got that damn hood on.

Never thought Isabella was all that attractive, her head looks too big.

For a final word, I have to say that overall I find DA:I's character design phenomenally better than DA:O or DA2. Good character design isn't about making everyone "Look pretty" to whatever standard, it's about making them visually distinct and interesting, even if you find them repulsive. To that end, just take a moment compare the faces in that handy chart... Look at the contrast between features from DAO/DA2 with DA:I. For all the DAO/DA2 characters, you could basically swap out hair color/style, makeup and face do-dads and each character would be interchangeable visually.

Bioware wants to create characters that seem real, that have imperfections. As opposed to having them look like touched up supermodels to appeal to a group of straight males with unrealistic expectations of beauty. They are doing what they want.

This, basically.

Nice to see that you can speak for every straight male out there, and that every straight male has the same opinion.

Stick to your opinion, and just your opinion. Imagining a consensus on anything, or speaking for everybody, is a recipe for your opinion being ignored.

Sure, I want devs to change things.(if possible) Isn't that obvious? And yes I want devs to listen people like me (obviously). Not sure why it's so touchy subject for you though. Everybody is some part of group of people, if one man post something on the forum there are 1000 more who think like this, thats pretty obvious . Numbers. Just go look at ANY research about "who buys vido games", this will give you some idea, then remind yourself you are on bsn.

So let me get this straight, your not asking them to change anything... just letting them know that you personally, (as well as a few others on their forums) don't like it.What will this achieve? And you somehow assume that a huge chunk of the people who play their games agree exactly with you? lelwut....

WHY Y NO LIKE ISABELA?

Okay Dubozz just to clear stuff up are you:

  1. stating that you don't like the looks of the female characters, just to alert the developers of this so they can take your (as well as everyone else's) opinion into account.
  2. Saying that Bioware should change the looks of the current female characters because you don't find them attractive.

Because if it's 1 that's completely fine, if it's 2 we've got a problem.

WHY Y NO LIKE ISABELA?

Because she's a **** *loljkIlovehersomuch* I will say that I love how all the females look in Inquisition. As someone stated before, Both Leliana and Morrigan are in their thirties considering that it's been a decade since Origins started, so how they look now makes sense. It's thanks to the Frostbite engine to realize such realism in their aging, and even then I still think they look gorgeous. Also there are still hiccups and glitches concerning eye color.

As for the female love interest options in DAI, I think they're all beautiful, in fact I think Josephine is one of the most human, gorgeous looking female I've seen in a video game that is actually Human pretty and not Unrealistic/Supermodel pretty. Everyone has an opinion and frankly I think it's ludicrous how people are asking to change the looks of some of the characters both male and female just because they don't like how they look.

To be honest I think Inquisition has the most unique, well rounded, attractive cast that's been in the series.

Sorry Dubozz (edit: I missed a z!), the issue here is that you find yourself to be in the majority by assuming that there are that many people that agree with you. Based on what I've seen on this forum, in this and other threads, as well as on Twitter, Facebook, and some comments on other sites, you're actually in the minority (seemingly; without a survey of some sort, neither of us really knows). I was okay with everything riiiiiiiiiiight up until you said :

Ask me again when we will have pretty female faces in the next Bioware game.

We probably won't have faces that YOU find pretty, or there may be one that fits your fancy as you are not alone, but your approach here is somewhat rude and the devs like to be sassy. People are rather fond of how true to their personalities the characters look, ie: The Iron Bull isn't a pretty Qunari and that does have some women upset, but plenty more find him interesting through his story. I know that wasn't an example of a female character, but I hope you catch my drift (Otherwise, consider Cassandra as she looks like a warrior and a soldier not like a primped up beauty queen that holds a sword and looks like she doesn't quite fit the role). The games do evolve based on comments like yours, but, also, the approach matters. I can understand feeling like there isn't a character for you to romance/one that isn't aesthetically pleasing to you, but they can't please everyone and Bioware devs seem to enjoy doing what they think is best which might mean designing women that look real and fit their roles.

I doubt BW is thinking when they are creating a character, is character X attractive enough for our gamers? They make the character look the way they believe they should be. I like the way the characters turned out. If you want to play a game where all the women look like super models, then this isn't the game for you.

Where did I say that?

How do you know "straight males" are unhappy with the women in DA:I?

It's like, you and three other people who keep talking about it in threads.

Do you really think you're representative of the millions of other potential straight male customers? And how do you know? Have you done research?
