Sorry Dubozz (edit: I missed a z!), the issue here is that you find yourself to be in the majority by assuming that there are that many people that agree with you. Based on what I've seen on this forum, in this and other threads, as well as on Twitter, Facebook, and some comments on other sites, you're actually in the minority (seemingly; without a survey of some sort, neither of us really knows). I was okay with everything riiiiiiiiiiight up until you said

We probably won't have faces that YOU find pretty, or there may be one that fits your fancy as you are not alone, but your approach here is somewhat rude and the devs like to be sassy. People are rather fond of how true to their personalities the characters look, ie: The Iron Bull isn't a pretty Qunari and that does have some women upset, but plenty more find him interesting through his story. I know that wasn't an example of a female character, but I hope you catch my drift (Otherwise, consider Cassandra as she looks like a warrior and a soldier not like a primped up beauty queen that holds a sword and looks like she doesn't quite fit the role). The games do evolve based on comments like yours, but, also, the approach matters. I can understand feeling like there isn't a character for you to romance/one that isn't aesthetically pleasing to you, but they can't please everyone and Bioware devs seem to enjoy doing what they think is best which might mean designing women that look real and fit their roles.

Sure thats how it suposed to be. I not arguing about how bioware should work or something.

" you find yourself to be in the majority"

Where did I write this again?

We probably won't have faces that YOU find pretty

We will, believe me.

I doubt BW is thinking when they are creating a character, is character X attractive enough for our gamers? They make the character look the way they believe they should be. I like the way the characters turned out. If you want to play a game where all the women look like super models, then this isn't the game for you.

I guess you are in for suprise!

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

One persons attractive isn't everyone's. Frankly, this is the best looking bunch we've had, IMO.

it's about to make them know, that some part of " straight males with unrealistic expectations of beauty" which are by chance huge chunk of their customers. are not pleased with their female characterts art direction.

Here it is.

I'd genuinely like to know how old you are, if you don't mind.

I think the female character design is very good in DAI.  Some are extremely pretty, they're all striking.

I think you might be unaware of how you're coming across to others in this thread...the way people seem to be reading your posts is that you think Bioware should fix the women and make them supermodel-esque. That would be believing that you know better than the developers...but it could just be people are misinterpreting your responses.

You seem to be implying that you and thousands of others are upset over this as you identified with the straight male gamers who are the "target audience". Forgive me for misunderstanding.

I honestly don't think it'll be quite as definitive as "well she's pretty and she's not" but rather there may be a character more suitable for you in future games. I'm honestly surprised you don't find ANY of the women attractive (Leliana aside as she hasn't aged one bit it seems...despite all the years...). There is a decent bit of variety here, but I suppose that's just your fancy. Can't really help that!

Yep, it'll be a shock to everyone when bioware randomly changes every single character in inquisition to suit your needs.

How do you know "straight males" are unhappy with the women in DA:I?

It's like, you and three other people who keep talking about it in threads.

Do you really think you're representative of the millions of other potential straight male customers? And how do you know? Have you done research?

Actually to be honest there is a lot of fanboyism that goes around. Which is pretty much why I perceive the negative threads as more valid than the positive ones.

Also there are a lot of times where people instead of making a well constructed case, they just toss the word ugly because they think it's obvious, either because the characters are indeed ugly or the picture is totally unflattering, and then fanboys swoop down like crows and tear them apart. A person that doesn't care too much about Dragon Age and sees those characters won't think "hey this works because_______", he will think "what's with the ugly characters?", which is pretty evident if you see discussions about it in other forums.

WHY Y NO LIKE ISABELA?

Oh, I like Isabela very much, the same goes for Merrill. I really enjoyed both their characters and their romances, I just think that neither of them is anywhere near as beautiful as the women in DA:I. I don't get how you can look at those pictures and say that DA:I has the bad looking characters. Especially Vivienne, she's a topmodel and all the others look just perfect in their own way. I love their looks and I would never want Bioware to change them or any other character we've seen so far. Maybe tone down the make-up a bit, especially the eye-liner, but their actual faces look just amazing.

Care to show me any sort of proof that anyone other then a few other forum goers agree with you.

I also find it most amusing how you changed from saying 'I never implied it was a majority' to 'It's a big majority'...

Because this thread is an entirely new idea.

But seriously. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally like that the characters are looking more realistic this time around. The engine is capable of doing some great things. I personally think this is the most attractive bunch we've had so far. One of the reasons is because they look real. Being "perfect" does nothing for me. I think Cassandra looks great. She's badass and beautiful without having to resort to wearing bikini armour or having a massive chest. Don't agree? A shame. But BioWare isn't creating characters to pander to people that want every character to look like a model, and frankly, all of the people that have been complaining about how ugly Cassandra and Sera are need to take a good, long look and come to the conclusion expressed above. They're not making characters to pander to your every desire. Do you find some of the character's attractive? Neat'o. You don't? Too bad.

This isn't a dating sim. The characters don't exist solely for you to hit on them, although you could be mistaken into thinking otherwise if this forum were anything to go by.

The only way to know what the majority of players think of the characters looks is for BW to do a poll. And those can easily be scewed(not sure how to spell). If it's anonymous, people can spam the poll in their favor.

This is funny because the other day I was reading a thread from a female poster(presumably) about why all females in DA:I look like super models and all male characters look ugly. I swear half the people in BSN will make good politicians, digging up sensitive issues in the simplest of Bioware's decisions.

It's actually a good thing that people are disagreeing over the aesthetics of the characters. It means they aren't rehashing the same character models they know are popular. People are into different things.

While we're here this notion about straight males having this very narrow consensus on beauty, and a narrow-minded outlook in general, simply isn't true. Heterosexual men are into a fairly diverse set of looks, just like everyone else as it happens.

Also how many threads of I hate X characters looks or all the characters designs are bad are we gonna see? Really we should just ignore them and let them die with no responses.

I don't get all the realistic talk.  The characters are more unique this game, but I don't find them realistic.  Vivienne is most realistic looking character to me.  But Sera is looks like a character from an animated movie.

Others look aged and harden by tough times, but you can't have what looks like string and yarn for hair, of these plastic looking glossed out lips and say they look realistic.

Some of the characters I think are attractive and some not so much, but that doesn't mean that I want them to be perfect models as some people try to imply. Ironically right after they get through saying to each his own, or something along those lines.  Let's not be hypocrites.

Eh I actually think the present bunch is the best of the three games. Morrigan was pretty but Leliana not that much unless modded. Merill I didn't fancy, and Isabela was just trying too hard to be sexy for me. Here, I can see myself liking Josephine and Vivienne. Leliana is also gorgeous in Inquisition (and seemingly got younger as years went by to boot).

Dev's don't need this info? I'm sorry I've never heard of any good developer that would deny feedback before the game  release.

Well Bioware has a history of ignoring feedback before AND after a game's release, so.... yeah.

This may not be the exactly right place to complain about how hideous those new characters look (something which I agree completely).
