I found the statistic that 86% or so of players always picked the "morally good" options fascinating.
Yep, I got quite suprised by that, I also agree that the presence of a choice has a value in itself, even if I'll never pick an other option.

Agreed about the choice aspect (not surprised by the 86% good choice).
I'm always surprised when people make the "I don't use this, so they should cut it from the game" argument. More choices are always good. I will probably never play as an evil or rude PC, but I think the game is stronger because people have the option to play that way if they choose.

I have a funny feeling I've likely contributed to that, I can't count the number of times I have started a game told myself 'Okay this time I'll do this different' and then come the moment ran away screaming from it unable to press the button and make it yet having the knowledge of that choice as an option, is still good in itself. Anyway these panel audio files have been awesome so far thank you to those posting the links.
Interesting panel discussions at GaymerX this year though admittingly as a straight guy this is the first time I have checked coverage for it
I agree that the whole big hoorah about gay romances is kinda strange in this day and age! I believe how Cortez was managed in ME3 was the perfect and realistic way to handle a gay character being friends with a straight character
Anyway the romance one is the juiciest information wise methinks and the Gaider interview is rather interesting
Just about to listen to Freaking out next so fingers crossed for some juicy info ![]()
I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but in the romance panel audio when Patrick starts talking about Iron Bull after starting it with something along the lines of "I'm gonna make an announcement", he takes a while to get to the actual announcement and in the meantime you can literally hear:

Thanks for all who gave questions
Just finished picking David Gaider's brain. Vid should be up tomorrow here http://youtube.com/ladyxinsanity

By the way, for those who want their curiosity satisfied, Iron Bull would have been the 3rd race-gated romance. There are now two. #DAI

Agreed. I've always thought arguing optional content should be cut from a game is like arguing that people shouldn't be able to order strawberry ice cream at a restaurant just because you happen to like vanilla.

But if there are only 3 ice cream tub slots, and you put strawberry in one, then there is now only two chances for me to have cookie dough! Which is like vanilla only better.

If the option to be a dick wasn't present, I wouldn't find enjoyment in not being a dick. The option to choose good is, in my mind, a great part of the fun in Bioware games.

Just want to indicate my complete agreement in this. I usually play a good character, but without that viable choice for something else, it would just lose a lot of impact. As an example old Gold Box D&D games, where you could make the most evil party alive who always ended up fighting for good without any questions asked.
I do good and evil. I have too many playthroughs. Though they do tend to stick morally good...
Also, JESSICA IS AWESOME

"Tough." - David Gaider at some point, probably.
As a straight woman I feel that there was a lot of discussion in all the panels that was relevant and inclusive to everyone. I really enjoyed listening to them and wish to thank the Bioware devs for spending time debating the nuances of opinion presented across the forums and social media. I also would like to note that even 100 years ago women were considered "less than" men and often still are today (as a mixed animal veterinarian in a rural area it has taken over a decade for some of my clients to accept that I can do the job as well as the guys, and a few never will). And, according to the "Freaking out the Neighbors" panel, as a rogue fan I'm still a minority. Even if there is content that I never see it adds value to the game because I could have made another choice.
I am glad that Bioware is a company that values all lifestyles and is not afraid to openly support them. Cheers to all of you.
Now I'll go back to lurking and debating whether my 1st male inquisitor should romance Dorian as a mage or a rogue....
Ashe's interview with David Gaider:
INTERESTING STUFF!!!!

I can't help but think that this means that one of the remaining LI's has to be a race-gated bisexual male. I just cannot accept that they would have allowed gay dwarves to only have one option. Especially after reading Gaider's quote about being okay with asking players to play as a different race/gender/sexuality to access a specific character, but not just to get equitable options. One of the remaining LI's has got to be a male character that is available to male dwarves, right?
i loved the DG panel. i respected the BW team a lot already but after David's little story i respect them a whole lot more. if that is even possible.
geez I got some mad respect for these guys. Loved listening to their panels too. Big thanks to the guys who recorded them!

Wait, did they ever say that Dorian is restricted against Dwarves? I must have missed it then.
Hmph. Clearly only 14% of the DA gaming population has true taste
BSN is not good for seeing what people do generally in BW games. XD
Yeees.
Hm, I am inclined to agree with that: I get convincing enough scenarios* where I can pick and choose how to proceed based on a wider range of options than mere altruism - I'm a nice guy holding the door open for others even on crutches in RL, honest! -, I progressively got less and less trouble going for the "not good" outcomes in this set of media when presented the choice. I found that to be a quite nice experience with past BW-titles, as it were, and hope DA:I can deliver in this regard as well.
Not necessarily the main-point of this thread, I know, I know.
*PS: "Convincing" is the key here; I can't make a good enough case in either direction, the "choice" got about as much meaning as tossing a coin.
In panel, talking about people who complain about them spending so much time on romance. Patrick points out that 60% of the game is combat.
Also make the point that there ARE straight people who enjoy accessing the lgbt content, and that the numbers of players who access it is larger than the supposed percentage of lgbt players, so it's a mistake to say that only a small percent of gamers are wanting the gay romances.
P. Weekes: More people romanced Leliana as a a female warden than chose to play a rogue. So should we cut rogues out of our games?
Fantastic statement, I got to say, admittedly being part of that demographic. ![]()
