I'm curious why so many players have a blueprint for their first play through, especially towards romances. From the character snippets I don't have any clue who, if any my Inquisitor might be interested in. I guess I prefer playing the game and finding these things out as I go, as opposed to having a planned play through. Just wondering, and thanks for stopping by, peace.
A question, a thought...maybe an observation?

I have a basic plan of what I'm going to do (Romance Cassandra, support a compromise between mages and templars (if possible), support Celene) but all this could certainly change depending on what happens in game. For instance if Cassandra turns out to be really unlikable in Inquisition I won't romance her, if I can't make a comprimise between the mages and templars I'll have to end the war another way, etc, etc.

It's a fairly normal occurance for people to instead get into the mindset of the character they've been given, and adding onto the not-blank slate provided, to instead try and put themselves into the shoes of the character. That's why you have people expressing horror at the lack of liberalism, freedom of thought, caste system and desire for destruction of various groups when their characters would probably be neutral to actually for said institutions.
I've found it's more of an issue for early gamers, and it works itself out for later games. ![]()

In part, creating a blueprint is something to do whilst the 85 days pass.
At the moment I have Sera, Josephine and Iron Bull romances penciled in, but that doesn't mean it won't happen differently.
Hopefully we will all be too busy with the Keep in September to be needing to re-engineer our blueprints.
I would love to go into the game completely (and I mean completely) knowledge-free but I'm too pumped for that ever to happen.

It doesn't hurt to have a basic idea.

Oh I'm not one of em, I'm just gonna wing it this time round! ![]()
And in regards to the LI's, I'm pretty meh about what I've seen so far sooooo I may not even romance anyone in my first playthrough. Maybe they might surprise me, hell I could be knee deep in Sera before the game is through! ![]()

I haven't planned anything about my first playthrough yet. The only planned playthroughs I've done in bioware games is in ME and JE.

I don't have one planned. I have some ideas of what I'd like to do or who I might romance with whom. But the game might turn out very differently than what I think. For now, it's fun to throw some ideas around until the game comes out. I'm not holding myself to anything I may come up with.

My plans are pretty much just the race/class with a general idea of who I want to romance (subject to change if someone else seems so great I can't help romancing them)
I doubt anyone is setting too much in stone because honestly we just don't know what we'll have the options to do.

Me too. Tis fun to speculate.
Personally I enjoy speculating before release, then compare my speculation / what people have said to actual events when the game is released. Maybe I know what the Dev / writer is thinking

Saberchic approves +10 Speculations are fun!
I find it hilarious when something that we think on the forums as fact in game actually turns out to be vastly different.

I'm not 100% set on romance options, etc. I have a few basic things down:
1. I know that I am going to play as a male mage.
2. I know that I will romance either Scribbles or Cassandra, because I don't find any of the other options aesthetically appealing and Sera is a lesbian (might roll a fem 'quiz on my second playthrough, though).
3. Probably going to be a necromancer, because my Warden was a blood mage in Origins and I really enjoyed it. We'll have to see what the Rift Mage specialty is, though.
4. Gonna side with the mages in their conflict with the Templars.

I'm always set on a romance option before playing a DA game...And I will romance this companion no matter what happens.
In DA2 it was fairly hilarious , Fenris didn't want to romance my Hawke at all.
I hated him but still wanted this romance to suceed.
Somehow it didn't end up well.
I wouldn't call it a fun experience , but the memories of me banging my head against my keyboard in despair are amusing.
Maybe there was a lesson , there?Mmm...

I'm curious why it did not work out with Fenris?
Because I took him everywhere I was pro mage so I got rivalry , I saved elves , killed slavers , was anti demons and blood magic ,and I got friendship.
I was always in nowhere land.
I somehow managed to trigger the sex scene with Fenris just before the Last Straw (I think with the book you can give him as a gift).
Still his approval wasn't all that high and I went to the Gallows , and sided with the mages.
