Just curious when you play these games do you try out both genders or do you prefer to stick to what you like mainly? Personally as a female player whenever I get the opportunity to play a lead character in a game I take it happily. That's my preference, however I have tried one playthrough as a male warden in DAO, simply to try something different and romance Morrigan. In this new DA I can see later playthroughs testing out different races/romances and genders, just for variety and curiosity as it just looks so much more detailed in this new game and fun.
So how bout you lot, do you prefer to test out the variety of options or do you prefer to stick to what you like mainly?
55% Female 45% Male
I like to get my money's worth when I pay $70 for a game. I plan to play all races/genders in Inquisition. ![]()
I play both.
Usually play as me, dude.
This time I want to romance Sera, and will be playing as a Qunari female at least once.
The replay factor this time is quite compelling, if this is the case then I'm going to play as both genders so I romance all the ladies twice.
I like to play good looking characters too, but I've had the opposite problem you've had - I've haven't been able to make a good looking female Warden, Hawke, or Shepard, and I haven't liked the female voice options. Because of this all of my protagonists - save one or two half finished runs - have been male.
I assume you are a female?
This is interesting. xD
I play both, for variety and romances.
Yeah, I always play both. ^o^ Way more fun that way.
Yep, both.
I prefer to play as a female character, because there are so few awesome/strong female protagonist in games. If things were the other way around, I would prefer playing as a male.

Yes, I am female. ![]()
And, yeah, it is kinda funny we have the same problem working in reverse. The Dragon's Dogma CC is the only one to date to give me my perfect female character. Total one hit wonder I'm sure, but I'm hoping the DA Inquisition CC is capable.
I'm a woman and I'm pretty into rolling a female pc whenever I can, but I've made exceptions in the past for romance reasons. In DAO I wanted to romance Morrigan, so I made a male Dalish elf. There's no reason to play a male Hawke in DA2, but I'll probably have at least two male Inquisitors so I can romance Cassandra and Dorian.
Both.
DAI might actually convince me to play a female for once

I usually play women, but I've gender-bent a few times, and I have a character I'm planning on doing just that with on my second session of the game.
I play as a man mostly but I do play as a female sometimes.
In DAO, I played both genders as it did offer a different experience. I'm glad DAI is going back to this as it will make each playthrough different for me.
In DA2, I only played female Hawke once to say I at least tried her out and had the rest of my playthroughs as male Hawke. This was mainly due to the fact that things really didn't change at all based on your gender since some things, like romance weren't affected at all by your gender.
Trust you to make this thread crim, but I'll bite.
In a far, far, far away time, before the abomination of dlc, before the internet was mainstream, in the ancient time where all assignments had to be handwritten: it was then I played my first RPG. The hero was always a male, whether the game was on windows 3.2 or the brickboy, and so after decades of this pattern: I struggle to play as anything else, because for me it's always been a set male protagonist I had to play.
So wise, so angry, teach me your ways senpai Yuki! ![]()
Ah the old grey brick, I still have mine, don't think it works anymore tho. Good memories with that one.
I'm a dude, but I play as both. Different genders, different races, different classes, different sexualities.
depends on Voice Acting. my Shepard is female because ME1 female Shepard have a nice voice acting.
add to this no real difference between male and female in terms of gameplay (as example Mount&Blade when female character is handicapped on many aspects), except for LI but i don't care about it all, so voice acting will decide for me will i play male or female.
however i will play human. i don't really like xeno breeds.
I'll play both. I don't always finish the female playthrough, sometimes I don't like the voice as much. Usually my second playthrough is a female warrior and I don't enjoy warriors as much as mages. It depends on the character creator too. I like playing as women of color and those have not been great so far in DA.

I generally play both genders and all classes, although not necessarily both genders as all classes. Just so I can explore as much of the game as is available.
I play males, because I too, am a male. However, I've played a Femshep once in Mass Effect (1-3) and a female in DA:O and DA2.
I'll play a female again amidst the hundreds of other options to romance Cullen or maybe Sera
