Ah, the truth about my scrubbiness:  I rarely get even a 5 headshot medal, even with: speccing for headshot damage, using a Targeting VI, & sniper rifles (Reegar & Harrier seem to give me more accidental headshots).  Maybe I'm too spastic or old?  Will focus on working on this.

You can work on that, there's nothing definitive. Make an effort in your next games to systematically aim for the head, even if it cost you to miss more than usually. You will notice after a while that you are obtaining more and more headshots, sometimes even without paying too much attention to that. Well, at least it's how it worked for me.

That's how it worked for me too. It becomes second nature after awhile.

I think it depends on what character and load out you are using and what enemy you're facing.

I used this:

on FBWGG solo. I think it took about 40mins. I took advantage of the fact that no one else was going for nades, so I'd constantly stim, which allowed me to take a lot of hits before moving positions.

The Fury and Slayer are both really good for doing fast gold solos with minimal shooter skills. I would say however just play for fun and forget about times.

I'm still a scrub on headshot medals, but I'm getting better at only look for the head (and knowing on each enemy where it is) and now I get more 10 HS medals/early in the game...

I will look forward to see more 20HS consistently...

Collector have a big fat head if you want to train for it...

The smaller the map, the better friend of yours a Geth Scanner is.

@Softcore -- do you mean to say you solo plat faster than gold !?  Hard to believe, given the number of bosses to kill.

Also, I'm not trying for any records, just more reasonable times (say, sub 40 min. on gold).  Guess I'll have to try throwing caution to the wind, too.

It's about the same time because I don't grind solos and didn't try to do gold much. I think my best for gold is around 25 minutes and my best for platinum is 30 minutes. I don't know why I was just always better at doing it on platinum rather than gold.

Curious.  Notice from your sig that you are on both console & PC -- does the game seem easier on one vs. the other?

PC doesn't have devices. Or targets.

It's easier in some ways but harder in others. You can aim way easier on pc and there's no "aim assist" but enemies are way more accurate with the higher fps.

PC players don't even know how to play the game. All we do is hack the game to make every gun a cobra missile launcher and cheese the game. Yep, that's exactly what we do.

To be fair, that's only to even the odds when we're dealing with 50+ rapid-fire Geth Primes at once!

Bah, speak for yourself. I mod my AF field to have a radius of 2 kms and 1 million DPS. I'm too lazy to fire a weapon...

I am almost in the same situation, and just took some time to think about it and came to the conclusion i should :
- video capture my games to see where i took bad decision, or where i sucked
- study some good gameplays videos. After watching mine it should be more easy to see where good move/options are taking place
- restart going only for the head most of the time

But being a scrub for so long (800 hrs), i am not sure it s worse the effort :) as i fear i m just not so far from my best.

Anyway, i lack the laptop to register full game (i am allready limited to 30 fps most of the time) and i have no disk space.
Btw what would be the lightest way to record games ? I have Dxtory, but files are rapidly huge. I need a storage disk anyway, maybe it s time to buy.

When I started recording games I was using free version of Screencastomatic. Files are quite small compared to other programs. I didn´t get the gaming sound working so now I´m using Fraps.

MSI is great. You can scale the quality/size of the video, customize hotkeys, mix game and mic sound levels, and it's free.
