I never really liked fast travel.

It always felt like I was skipping bits.

In a BioWare game that was not normally an issue because there are usually specific defined (small) world areas which you travel between - that is to say there are no in-between areas to skip.

Even so, if I was travelling from the Brecilian Ruins to the Dalish camp I would have no problem walking through the East Brecilian Forest and then the West Brecilian Forest even if only littered with the corpses of vanquished foes.

But in DAI using fast travel just feels like a cheat to me, like grabbing a transporter to beam me straight there. That's what my horse is for surely and if I need to go back to a place, I intend to use that mount. In any case, with a more dynamic world, you will miss the impact of your previous passing.

Will you be giving fast travel a miss wherever possible?

Not only no, but hell no.

I hate replaying content in a game if I don't have to, I will fast travel every chance I get.

This is why I hated Dark Souls, haha.

It depends on the area, generally. If it's an area I enjoy I'll take the time to travel through it, but if it's one I disliked I'll fast travel pretty much every time.

I wouldn't go so far as to call fast travel a cheat, but I personally don't use it, in DA titles or any others, ie Bethesda games, etc. I'm glad the option is there for other folks who like it though.

Yep. Unless I really don't want to backtrack somewhere, I tend to not use it.

I love looking out for new ambient dialogue and stuff. So it really depends.

Nooooope!

I do not need to pad my gametime with backtracking to have fun.

Dragons Dogma was a massive massive world with next to not form of Fast Travel. Thats all the proof i need that its a terrible idea to not have fast travel in a huge rpg world.

You could be right about missing stuff but at least we can go back at any time; it's not like once you've completed a certain quest you can no longer return to an area.   I don't know if you remember a game called Arcanum some years ago but if you weren't too magical you could travel to a lot of places by train, which was a lot faster but when I played a magic user they were barred from using the train so I to walk.   Suddenly I was picking up new quests and even a companion that I had missed taking the train.   So I think I will use the horse to begin with an only fast track when I know I have covered everything along that particular piece of trail.

The mounts will make things more bearable on foot, but there are times when i just want to finish something quickly and will fast travel out of sheer laziness, as long as ive explored the road to said destination first

It depends. First time? Probably not. But when I'm more familiar with the game I will use it more often.

Yep. I prefer it. Hate games I have to wander aimlessly. If the story and characters are interesting enough I'll replay many times to find everything I missed.

Once you can buy Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma, (NG+) fast travel is greatly improved. There are some limitations to where you can put them, but you can pretty much choose up to 10 fast travel locations for yourself.
I think Dark Arisen added more Portcrystals to the main campaign as well because it was a common complaint.

I like exploration and feeling like I'm losing myself in pretty virtual environments, so fast travel isn't a biggie for me unless I am trying to complete a specific goal. In Inquisition I will thoroughly explore each area, and if anything has changed on a return trip I will check it out. Once I've exhausted the sense of discovery I'll use mounts and fast travel more frequently.

I really do try to avoid it for the most part, but sometimes if I'm just not in the mood or really just want to get somewhere I do use it.   ^_^

Depends on the type of fast travel. If its a teleport im all for it. If its like  skyrim, then I usually wont for a while or at least until I know a bit of the area im skipping. Fairly certain its the 2nd, so well see how much I use it.

I think I will approach it the same way I did Skyrim: If I feel like taking a walk, I will avoid fast travel. If I don't feel like taking a walk, I will fast travel. It really depends on circumstances and the amount of times I've replayed the game.

Depends, if there's always new stuff to loot, kill, and harvest then I'll probably not use fast travel until I've completely stripped the area of everything.

If places become empty graveyards after the first three or four passes, then I'll probably use it.

Usually I use it.

I had to with Skyrim, I got lost a lot..

But BioWare games are a different kettle of fish for me. I enjoy them a lot more than any other games.

For this reason, I'm guessing I will hardly (if at all) use fast travel in Inquisition.

I'M SO EXCITED.

I use it a lot.  I see no problem with the narrator skipping over the boring parts

I use it a lot. Backtracking through the same areas over and over again isn't difficult. It's monotonous.

Usually I will fast travel over large distances ( from one side of the map to the other in games) and will walk to relatively close areas.

Playing through Dark souls 2 I felt that the fast travel took a lot away from the game, it made it seem like I was playing a Crash bandicoot game,so I will avoid fast traveling in DA I as much as possible, especially over short distances.
