Very cool. Free Marcher. I wonder what section (it's a big place). The name itself still sounds like it has Ferelden roots. Or something similarly Celtic based.

Thanks for the answers!
That sounds pretty sad, honestly.

So, the difficulty to add reactivity to blood magic was the cause that blood magic disappear as specialization?
edit: maybe I just should wait for maria hightlights (btw, thanks maria
) instead of questioning about everything because I'm not sure if I understood right, shouldn't I? ![]()

Fantastic interview!
Was intrigued by the stuff about Nevarran death traditions. I'd love to know how far back the mausoleums go. (I'm guessing they were doing that kind of thing before they converted to Andrastianism, since I can't imagine them coming up with it afterwards. Plenty of real world religions have pasted a thin veneer of Christianity over the stuff they were already doing, after all.)
Pleased to hear the the human Inquisitors are Marchers - I thought it would be Ferelden, but this is more interesting. (Not to mention that it means they don't have to explain what the mage Inquisitor was up to during the Circle crisis in Origins, especially if the Circle got annulled. I thought they might say you were from Ferelden originally but sent to a Circle in the Marches or Orlais, but this is neater.) I wonder which city we're from? Kirkwall and Starkhaven seem somewhat unlikely unless the mage Inquisitor was quick on their feet and ran away from all the fire and annulling unpleasantness, but there are lots of other places it could be.
David Gaider does indeed have a lovely voice. He should have a bit part somewhere, like Joss Whedon in Angel or JMS in Babylon 5 ...

Highlights:
The Human Inquisitor is a Free Marcher noble. Human Mage Inquisitors are still nobility, but are/were members of the Circle of Magi.

It's a Cornish name.
I know.. but Cornwall is the one Celtic section of Britain left relatively untouched by Roman or Anglo Saxon influence.

DG would pick IB for romance
(he'd never pick one he wrote, because feels weird)

I wouldn't say it was untouched by Roman influence (As I understand it, it was under Roman rule just as much as the rest of southern Britain), but it did resist Anglo Saxon influence for centuries.

I personally had hoped that the Human's would be Nevarran, but I'm fine with Free Marcher too. Atleast no Ferelden this time ![]()

We should ask him again when all the romances are announced. He hesitated for a second and seemed to be thinking of someone we don't know of yet.

I feel like D. Gaider would romance Vivienne if possible.
He said he really liked the dynamic between Vivienne and Dorian, for example.(I know it's not a strong clue but whatever...

I think even as a Marcher, with a name like Trevelyan, it must be some group with ties to Ferelden still. The old barbarian peoples spread in Ferelden and the Marches alike. Andraste united all of them alike at one point. We even see that they still have some shrines in MotA (the Lady of the Skies shrine).

Thanks to Lady Insanity for doing the interview, and thanks to Maria Caliban for posting the highlights!
This is becoming a puzzle. Every bit of information is a piece that we can put together with the others, but we still don't have the full picture. Like the backgrounds. Trevelyan is a noble family from the Free Marches? But then the mage would have gone to a Circle? So it sounds like Mass Effect: "Human" woould be like the "Spacer/Earthborn/Colonist" pre-service history and then "Mage" would be like War Hero/Ruthless/Sole Survivor psychological background.
Now it's time to ask if Shepard the Inquisitor can call his or her mother if they have the right background ![]()
