The Adventure Building Challenge is now opening a call to NWN's talented, innovative and industrious creators of custom content to sponsor its upcoming building cycle, currently scheduled to begin next month.

If you are not familiar with the Adventure Building Challenge, it is a periodic exercise in which participants are challenged to create a complete and playable module adventure in a very limited period of time (typically one month). A kind of NWN game jam, it is loosely modeled on the Custom Content Challenge. See this thread for more information.

It is a tradition of the ABC that participants are restricted in the CC that can be used in the modules submitted, being mainly limited to sponsored hakpaks, which is to say, hakpaks that have been specifically offered for use in the ABC by the CC authors who created those hakpaks. This serves the dual purpose of limiting the focus of the module makers, keeping their ambitions confined to a project suitable for the short time period, and (or so it is hoped) also helping out makers of CC currently active in the community, giving them a chance to advertise some of what they are doing and perhaps even giving them an opportunity to see what practical uses it can be put to by module builders.

A list of sponsored content was generated for the initial ABC cycle, and the ABC has been using it ever since. However, this list was on the old vault (and thus is not readily accesible as of this writing), and was in need of updating anyway. It would therefore seem to be a good time to make a new list.

To be a sponsor, all that is necessary is that:

1) you be the author (or spokesman of the team in the case of CC produced by a group) of a hakpak currently available for download.*

2) you announce your intention to be a sponsor, along with the specific hakpaks (preferably with links included) that you are offering, in this thread (alternatively you can PM me with the same information, if for some reason you prefer that, and I will announce your sponsorship myself). If you are a very prolific producer of CC, it would be preferable that you put forward no more than several hakpaks (in the interest of keeping the focus limited), but that is not strictly required.

I look forward with eagerness to seeing what CC will be available for the next ABC cycle. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

*I realize that the troubles with the old vault mean that the number of authors who have something immediately ready for download has been sadly if temporarily reduced. I had hoped to put off this post until either those troubles were resolved or definitively determined to be permanent, but it does not look like either is going to happen any time soon, and we must go on regardless. Therefore, if you are a CC author and have not yet transferred your work to the new vault, this might be a good time to do that.

Current sponsored hakpaks include Project Q (see link in the post above), and the following selections by Tarot Redhand:

Micro Maps version 2

and Tarot Redhand's Pot-Pouri, including the following haks:

TR's Arcane Circles

TR's Bottles

TR's Celtic Knots

TR's Crop Circles

TR'S Runes

TR's Puddles

TR's Tribal Territory Marks

Additional sponsors are certainly welcome.

Just 2 notes from me. The first is that my haks, because I made them CEP 2.3/4 compatible, are (probably) not (as they stand) compatible with project Q. The second is that my experience is that if someone is so kind as to use one of your haks in a module, downloads of that hak will significantly increase.

Perhaps I should note as a clarification that though ABC participants are primarily limited to the sponsored content, they can also use one small hak with a few extras such as any edited 2da files that might be needed to get the content from different sponsors playing nicely together. It does not hurt to warn us about possible conflicts of course.

Two new sponsors:

Courtesy of the Amethyst Dragon, we have the various haks produced by the Custom Content Challenge.

We also have Shadooow's Tileset Additions.

Can I change the content I sponsored before?

I had offered the Arabian Nights and Roman City tilesets before. Those are both in the CCC.

I'd like to change that to Mountains and More (http://neverwinterva...ntains-and-more).

Is there a real difference between sponsoring and just releasing your stuff freely to the public? Well if there is a difference then i sponsor my stuff. sounds a little bit doubled to me to make something available 2 times for eveyone but anyway ;) :D :)

It's probably not a rule, more like a guideline, but if people use custom content for the ABC modules they should use sponsored content. I guess this was to help promote new content instead of them using the CEP again which everybody has seen a thousand times already (and sadly most people still aren't sick of yet :P).

So yes, you should sponsor your content and I hope someone will use it. It would be nice to see your forest or caves being used instead of the CEP forest tileset.

Certainly, you can sponsor whatever you like of your content, so "Mountains and more" will be included.

It only makes a difference for ABC modules specifically, due to an admittedly somewhat arbitrary rule. I assume the stuff you have in mind is the following:

Improved Creatures

Placeables

Underdark Spidercaves

Generic Castle Interior

Ravencast Forest

If I have missed something, or alternatively you only wish to sponsor a limited selection of the above, let me know.

Since my stuff from the Old Vault has mysteriously resurrected itself on the New Vault all by itself - coughing noises, offers prime quality buffalo carcass to Amethyst Dragon - I'm happy to sponsor any and all of it for the ABC. Again.

I guess the most "generally" useful for the ABC might be:-

PHoD New VFX

PHoD Stone Vaults

PHoD Obelisks and Pyramids

PHoD Female Stingers

PHoD Magic Blobs

PHoD Psycho Vixen Attire

and, of course, anything I've done for the CCC

Feel free to completely disagree with me. You can use everything and anything I've made available... Hopefully there'll soon be some new PHoD stuff that isn't rubbish.

Glad to have you on board as a sponsor. If you are leaving me to pick, I think I will take:

PHoD VFX

PHoD Stone Vaults

PHoD Obelisks and Pyramids

PHoD Female Stingers

from the list you gave, and also

Undead Animals

since they were a memorable part of the content on the original ABC sponsors list and I find myself feeling strangely nostalgic for these monstrosities. That should give us a decent variety of tilesets, placeables and creatures to work with while still keeping the list to a manageable size. If there is anything else you especially want included (or not included for that matter), let me know.

Aaaagh! Idiot! Weirdo!

Me, that is.

How exactly was it possible for PHoD, the dribblingly debased, self-proclaimed King of Undead Animals, to have left the Undead Animals off the list?

I left out the Undead Animals.

That's never happened to me before.

(Hits self with atomic brick). Yes, Undead Animals. Obviously. Normal Service has been resumed.

I have compiled a master list of links to all the CC currently sponsored for use in the ABC, available for browsing by prospective participants looking for stuff to use (it can still be edited if some last minute sponsors come forward). The official announcement of the next ABC cycle is coming soon.

The Summer 2014 ABC has commenced. Again, thanks to all sponsors contributing to it.
