Update:

Mike Gamble (producer on ME Next) has a feedback survey for Mass Effect fans to fill out. Here's a link to his tweet:

Saturday, July 26 • 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Mass Effect developers from the Edmonton and Montreal studios discuss what it's like to expand on a well-established and beloved video game franchise. Panelists Carl Boulay (lead animator), Fabrice Condominas (producer), Mike Gamble(producer), Noel Lukasewich (senior artist), and Jessica Merizan (community manager), share their experiences in shaping the next Mass Effect game with new possibilities while staying true to the critically acclaimed series. Moderated by Nerdist.com.

_____________

No word on whether there'll be any information or an announcement, but it's pretty cool to see a senior producer from Montreal and Edmonton on the same panel talking about their plans for the next game.

Edit: Since Nerdist is moderating the event, there'll probably be a recording or podcast available afterwards too.

Considering it's an hour long panel about developing the game, it definitely feels like we should get some new information. Of course, they could just sit there and talk very general ideas and thoughts, but I don't see why they would have a whole panel where they say basically nothing.

Noel Lukasewich is the Lead Environment Artist, Carl Boulay is the Lead Animator and there are two producers there from Edmonton and Montreal, plus Jessica from the Community team, so I think it looks like a pretty significant event.

At the very least they might be showing off some more concept art.

Think they'll be able to go an entire hour without discussing the chronological placement of the new game?

I expect nothing to come of this apart from ppl sitting saying "yes there is a new mass effect being made" an trying to keep ppl interested

I honestly believe they got a really hard sell with this one, so i guess early showing might not be off the cards

They're at least going to hint at the work that's being done to stay true to the vision of the original trilogy while making something new and different - it says right there in the description.

Bioware wouldn't send five people to San Diego to sit on a panel for an hour for no reason.

Exactly. At E3 they could get away with not really revealing much at all because it was just a short clip as part of a larger conference, but this is a special event dedicated to just talking ME, with several of the people involved in it talking about it for an entire hour. If nothing new came out of it it would be a fairly useless panel.

Thanks for the info ElitePinecone, I'm definitely looking forward to this. Hopefully we can learn at least a few facts about the game from the panel. Though I always love hearing devs talk about what goes into making a game, so I'm interested to hear what they have to say regardless.

I wonder if Chris Hardwick will be there. Still I hope people pick their brains about whole new animations.

It literally can't be any less informative than what they revealed at E3.

An answer about the timeline would be nice.

Posted Mike Gamble's survey.

Interestingly, it sounds like the Mass Effect team are organising things for SDCC, Gamescom and PAX Prime.

More than likely.

I would imagine, and be very disappointed, if they weren't asked if they have picked a canon ending.

They've been asked about the chronology of the next game multiple times. Most recently at E3. The response was: "We're doing something really interesting to keep it completely separate from the Shepard Trilogy" (paraphrased)

I expect the same response at the SDCC panel.

That's what VG24/7 were thinking.

It also roughly fits the statement a few months ago that they're about halfway through development.

Looking forward to attending this panel and hearing what they have to share. I wish that Casey Hudson was attending, though.
