I get the feeling they are sending this survey out to just ry and confrim what they already wanted to do with the series

Possibly, though they can make tweaks based on the responses.

If that's the case, then it actually bodes well for the next game's direction, given the survey's focus on role-playing elements.

I dont Believe that this is going to work, people dont forget what has happened in the past.

Besides after the behind the scenes video at E3 i didnt see any shred of confidence in their Eyes only insecurity, like they dont really have much faith in it.

Out of curiosity, what's with the "Are you a member of the press or gaming industry" question at the end? If someone was to answer yes, would that make their answers invalid or less useful?

I must have forgotten it already. What has happened in the past?

Oh, you probably mean that little thing with the endings. Yes, they sucked. That was once, more than two years ago. They are absolutely zero indication of the previous of future quality of any BioWare game, especially not of one that is being developed by a different team. Move on already.

As far as I'm concerned, ME3 was still the best entry in the trilogy, crappy endings and all.

They are the most confident things I've ever seen.

It would be interesting to see how they differ from the general population. I don't think there has to be anything more to it than that.

I wonder how much impact this will have... and I didn't see any questions about what you would actually like to see in the next instalment.

A little bit late for a wishlist at this point, I suspect.

I did the survey. I don't know why; I don't expect the series to go in a direction that would interest me anyway. Certainly too far into development to turn that way in any case. As I said in my elaboration box, "Overall, ME3 soured me on the setting. Can't be excited about the story at all; the best I can hope for is a series of unrelated Star Trek-style forays into the furthest reaches of space, physics, and metaphysics."

Also,

dem eyes !

They just haven't been the same since he had to eat his hat after people started farming Platinum.

All valid answers, and helpful.

And you're right, ever since the hat incident I've been craving more hat.

Less 'design by concensus', it crippled TOR, just grow a pair already.

Dang.  Wish I'd thought of that.

That survey seems like something you'd put out before development starts, not half way through.

They haven't done any marketing at all yet.

Maybe BioWare is looking for information to fine tune their campaign.

Well I did the survey. Tried to positive and constructive in my feedback, stressing that I do not want another lowest common denominator (well that's me tracked from the survey responses..) Gears of War clone and that ME should play to its strengths of characters, settings and story; also that the userbase is generally fairly well educated and diverse (including gender), so hopefully we can see something a little different from the usual AAA crap we are spoonfed.

But we'll see, I have an open mind.

Took the survey. For me it basically boils down to:

1. yes, I've played several RPGs

2. the most important aspect of a game like this: the story

3. couldn't care less about: multiplayer

Comic-con is probably going to be a contest in who can be the most vague panelist. The most we can hope for is some out of context concept art. It's possible that they will actually reveal something concrete-- like one of the characters... depicted with 67 strategically placed  lens flares shooting across his or her trolltastically blurry face.

I'm hoping at the best an small teaser, like the legion reveal, but I feel that what we'll get is some concept art and brief descriptions by the devs. At the very worst they could have a panel, just like the Extended Cut DLC, where they don't talk about it and ask us which Mass Effect was our favorite. Please Bioware! I'm begging you at least give us a name to speculate on. Prove to me you can come up with better teaser than the E3 because that one was bubbling tossage.
