I don't think the human mage would be from Kirkwall. Mainly because depending on your choices in DA2, Meredith initiated the Right of Annulment thus killing all the mages if you side with the Templars.
& as someone mentioned, Starkhaven's circle burned to the ground sometime during DA2 so I think that is unlikely as well.
I said Trevelyans from Starkhaven or Tantervale. Starkhaven is still standing so the warrior/rogue Trevelyan could be from that city.

On the Minanter River in the Free Marches.

I am very excited for this but like others will be upset if the human noble is from Kirkwall (or Starkhaven). Tantervale would be my first choice as from what i gather all we really know about it is that it is one of the "big three" of the Free Marches (Kirkwall, Starkhaven and Tantervale.) and i am sucker for starting off as someone/somewhere prestigious or "powerful" like Highever in Ferelden.

We know little of Starkhaven as well. I would like the human noble to be from Starkhaven or Tantervale, both are intriguing. And yeah, I would love to be a powerful noble.

I wanted to be from Antiva or the Anderfels
After DA2, I want to put a billion miles between my Inquistor and anything close to Kirkwall.
Are accent would cause lore conflicts.

I think it's close to nevvara but does anyone have any info on tantervale
Not much just this The three real cities with any semblance of power in the Marches are Kirkwall,Starkhaven and Tantervale and they had a champion for there city.

Wouldn't that mean the Mage Trevelyan was at Kirkwall?

Why does everyone want to come from Tantervale? It sounds quite rigid and religious. And I don't get Ansburg. Isn't it Podunk, Free Marches?
If not Starkhaven - I think Wycome is a good choice. Its said to be the most free city-state - maybe making it easier for a mage noble to go unnoticed - and they import more wine than all most of Orlais so it has to be a fun place to be.

Tantervale is the only major city without baggage from previous games.
And I'll be interested to know where you get that information from. I have a new found interest in all things Free Marches outside of Kirkwall ![]()
By the way, the Trevelyan mage was sent to the Circle. He/she is not an apostate.

This is from The World of Thedas, but I don't know if this is canon.
Tantervale: Chantry law is all but absolute in Tantervale, earning the city its dour reputation. The city guard is obsessed with enforcement. A street urchin would get a year in the dungeon for something that would get him a pat on the back in Orlais.
So yeah...doesn't sound like a fun place. Wycome, however... ![]()
Wycome: Widely regarded as the most free of the Free Marches, the revelry capital of Thedas is also the second greatest importer of Antivan wine after Orlais - particularly impressive considering Wycome's population is less than a third of Val Royeaux.
Trevelyan, please be a Wycomer...

Yes, but you said you saw the mage being from the Kirkwall circle which is what I was specifically replying to in that I think it is unlikely given the possible outcomes of DA2. Unless he or she managed to escape the templars which would be interesting.
Since the human mage will still be a Trevelyan, he/she could have been raised in Starkhaven (or Tantervale) & then sent somewhere else once discovered as a mage. Someone else mentioned the other 3 cities with Circles are Ansburg, Ostwick, and Markham so mage Trevelyan will likely be in one of those Circles is my guess.

Oh, thanks. I didn't know that the human mage wasn't an apostate. I missed that somehow.
I got my info from World of Thedas' section on the Free Marches. It talks about Kirkwall and Starkhaven in the most detail but then talks about Ostwick, Tantervale, Ansburg, Markham, Hasmal, Wycome, and Hercinia.

Yeah. Also, I would prefer the Inquisitor to be the child of the Lord Chancellor of Tantervale over the third cousin twice removed of some random noble from Minor Marcher City Whose Name I Can't Remember. If you're going to noble, do it right.
And for those who wanted to play a Nevarran, remember they're just Marchers with overblown egos ![]()

Yeah, it does. Maybe it can be one of those 'when the cat's away' things. The 'cat' being Tantervale.

I'm surprised people want to be from Tantervale. It is, by far, the most religious and authoritarian city of the Free Marches.
There, a child may be sent to prison for a year for a crime that would earn them a pat in the back on Orlais.
ORLAIS!

Reading up on the Free Marches from the wiki, why couldn't there have been a Grand Tourney dlc in Dragon Age 2? It sounds so much fun and a chance to see so many people from all over Thedas.
