Hiya folks.

I've been trying to get some custom voice sets working for my player character. I've been following this guide http://social.biowar...iscussion/1561/ which has been very helpful but I've still managed to run into some problems.

So I've got as far as putting my .wav files (renamed using the ID codes to match wise female elf) into the override/toolsetexport file (the modules, single player one in my documents). But when I press generate VO in the toolset (while on root for the wise female elf) all I seem to get is the robot voice. I found the dragon age placeholder VO folder with all the .wav.ph and .txt files and the .fdp file but when I played the .wav.ph they sound like the robot. So does this mean the toolset can't find my .wav files (or just doesn't like them) and has used robot voice instead or is the next stage just messing me up? The toolset log is coming out with "Success: Local post of placeholder voice over data for conversation ss_pc_felf_wise" but its also saying "no FESL allocator defined" which doesn't really mean anything to me.

I also tried opening the .fdp file with FMOD designer as the guide said but every time I press build it comes up with "...ss_pc_felf_wise\349055_m.wav couldn't be opened for reading. Please specify the file's location." now I wasn't sure if it meant the .wav.ph file (which sounds like a robot anyway) or the .wav file from the override/toolsetexport either way I couldn't seem to get it to work.

I've been faffing about with this for ages now to no avail. I've been able to find solutions to all the other stupid things I've been doing wrong (as soon as I find a solution to one problem another arrives) but this one has me stumped. If anyone could suggest where I might be going wrong it would be greatly appreciated and if I'm doing something really stupid please feel free to mock me for said stupidity.

Thanks

Tasha

I've done quite a bit of work with the toolset voiceovers, but have never tried to replace one (always add new dlg files).  I have never seen a '.wav.ph' file and have never seen a .txt file associated with the sound files.  Not that they don't exist, but I have never personally seen them.

That said, it sounds like the toolset isn't finding your files or is unable to process them.  http://social.biowar....php/Voice-Over  is my preferred link for creating the .wav files to make sure that they are the correct settings/location.

Not mocking - mocking is saved for stupid questions that EVERYONE knows the answer to and I don't know the answer to your problem. :D

Thanks for taking the time to reply MerAnne. I think you're probably right and the toolset is not finding my files, I'll have to take another look and see if I've got them in the right place and the right format.

I'm new to anything modding related as I'm a long time console gamer so I think its going to take me a while to get the hang of it.

Thanks for the advice and for not mocking me (although you're more than welcome to mock if you want  ;) ).

No problem (for the advice).

I save most of my mockery for myself so you will have to work harder to come up with a stupid question if you want to be mocked ;)

I usually suggest starting with a head morph.  No, it isn't what you want to do, but it is something relatively easy to do with a million tutorials (some with youtube videos) and it teaches you some of the very bestest swear words to use on the toolset :D  It is just a start for the swearing, but you have to start somewhere
