I want to be able to choose the race of my character and then edit her. I also want my shepard from the first games to show up and be like hey I'm not dead.

You have to admit, the N7 was a big part of all of the games.

Not in my case. I wasn't wearing armor with N7 symbols and guess what? Nothing reminded me about N7.

N7 is a big part of marketing, not game.

Only thing in the entire game reminding you of N7, aside from armor pieces, is James.

I just hope the next protagonist is NOT military Alliance. I would welcome a disgraced soldier that became a bounty hunter, or a mercenary or even a pirate. Someone independent and with his own agenda. I grew tired of getting orders from Anderson and especially Hackett

I think the character will be an outright (instead of debatable) transhuman.

A sole canon Synthesis sequel?

DO NOT WANT!

No, nothing like that.

Besides, Synthesis-as-shown is closer to post-human.

A sole canon Synthesis sequel?

DO NOT WANT!

I'm one of few people who didn't have a problem with the concept of synthesis. It's not the best ending ever but, in my opinion, it's certainly the best of the three options we had at our disposal. I think it can be successfully incorporated into the new game.

Rather then a pirate I would really like it if the main character was part of an expedition. Part of a crew that would be tasked with going into unexplored regions of space and seeing what's there to see. Now as a mass relay isn't to be activated until a given region of space has been explored I believe it'd be fair to say such a job would be high risk and require a high level of self reliance. Plus being so far away from settled space it seems fair to say that you'd be relying more on your own moral guidelines then social norms. Then if the writers wanted to put the main character in a leadership roll they could just kill off the commanding officer or perhaps the main character leads a mutiny after some kind of disagreement.

After all. In what bioware game did the main character ever take control rather then be given it?

A resounding YES to all of that.

The next game could be set 400-500 years after the reaper war. It's a very generous time jump which would allow the game to have a completely different easthetic and to divorce itself from Shepard's story. The line between AI and organics is blurred in a subtle Ghost in the Shell-esque way, *suggesting* Synthesis is most likely the proper ending of the Shep trilogy. The tension between synthetics and organics is a non-issue and the game does not dwell on that theme again. Things don't glow circuit board green because... well, I'm obviously not a writer but it's 400-500 years later and, um, many things have changed. AI ships are commonplace and your vessel is a major character in the game (no stripper-bots this time though).

The council doesn't exist anymore. The governments of various species are now organized in a handfull of groups with varying degrees of cooperation. After the reaper war, the surviving species were able to scavenge and reverse engineer reaper tech. Jointly, they have built a new network of mass relays. Alas, these new mass relays are not as numerous as they were in ME1-ME3, so player's exploration of our galaxy is kept to a minimum. Instead, the focus of the game is on exploration of another galaxy that's made accessible through a newly developed experimental device. A few volunteers are given the "opportunity" to use the device for the purposes of testing this new technology as well as exploration of what lies on the other side. You are one of these volunteers.

This is where our game starts. At first you are confined to one system of the new galaxy. There you must gather resources for upgrades, which are then used to ensure your vessel's compatibility with the local mass relay equivalent. Some resources must be obtained through exploration, bartering, or completing side missions. In your travels you meet new species as well as other explorers from our galaxy. Some of them are helpful while others are not. The "villain" of the game, if you will, is a new powerful species, or a group of species operating together in a unique way. I would like to see a better developed, sympathetic villain this time. More carefully constructed motives and less sinister mustache-twirling, por favor. The protagonist dies at the end, of course.

That's really the type of thing I want warned about well in advance. That way I'll not buy the game.

Please no more N7. Since mass effect 2 to much N7. N7 is a special operations top soldiers so it would not be advertise in their armor, because it would made them easy targets.

I would love to play a mercenary, someone who creates his/hers mercenary company and haves to recruit new people....

I 'd like any of these. A pirate, detective, smuggler, bounty hunter or undercover spy. As long as it isn't a classic hero.

I want a protagonist that embodies this:

Everyone run here come's the reign...
Everyone run here come's the reign...
Everyone run here come's the reign...
Everyone run here come's the reign...

You made something they can't take away,
Now bring the fire of the burning sun on everyone!

We made something they can't take away,
We will never let it go.
We made something they can't take away,
Now and forever they will know!

My hopes -

Personal story, No saving the galaxy stuff.

Main character just a guy/gal born in the Terminus systems out to make a living (and solve the personal story)

Small ship with small crew.

Ship can be flown by the player.

Paths like Bounty hunter, Smuggler, mercenary, pirate, militia etc etc.

Lots of exploration.

Reality will probably be -

Commander Shepard II out to save the universe.

Assuming the next game is set post ME3 (instead of first contact war, alternate universe, whatsoever), I imagine:

- There will be multiple playable races, but nothing way too special: human [duh!], turian, quarian and asari. Currently, these are the races that either have playable body meshes for both genders, or a good excuse to have just one.

- N7 became an multispecies organization after the events of multiplayer. You will begin as a member of N7 special forces.

- Another Jesus-like PC (i.e. Shepard 2.0) is very unlikely. I tend to agree with people who believe that we will be seeing a common gal/dude dealing with more mundane and immediate problems, when compared to stopping a Reaper harvest. I would bet for a Fallout 3 type protagonist and story set. Epic, yet human and personal hero.

- There will be some kind of faction allegiance system. Spectres, Mercs, a Cerberus-like organization are possible picks.

- We will have to assemble an army to fight,er.. whatever we will be fighting.

- The new game will pick up on at least one loose end form the original trilogy: Dark energy, beings of light, monsters form the ID, what-happened-to-krogandome-with-birth-rates-unchecked (assuming-you-picked-this-option), etc.

- You will be able import your save file from ME3, as long as you don't <airquote> refuse it </airquote>. The endings will merge into a single path without major implications/ramifications to the storyline.

- Synthesis will be present, at least to some extent. Sorry Jim, it is inevitable. Augmentations will be a major part of gameplay, like in DeusEx (they will affect your character's attributes). And also like in DeusEx,Transhumanism/Posthumanism will be a major conflict in the new setting.

- I don't remember were I saw it first, but some ME fans are theorizing that the main character is the child stargazer. Makes sense to me

I'd like to play a quarian with a geth uploaded into my armor.... in a totally not-weird way.

I know what I said, Lol. If ME becomes a MMO, I will take back anything I've ever said about pre-ordering or being excited about the next game.

The new IP will be the MMO ;)

Or so I hope.

I don't like MMO's btw. An ME MMO though...

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away I thought a Star Wars MMO would be good...
