Advice on my QME please

Hello everyone!

So My fav kit has to be the Quarian male engineer.

I usually spec him

Tactical scan -3
Incinerate - radius, burning damage, armor damage
Arc Grenades- damage, electrical damage, shield damage
Passive- damage and capacity, power damage
Fitness- full health and shields

A fairly standard set. However, I find myself thinking would having the extra weapon damage in rank 6 of the passive, rather than just using tactical scan on bosses primarily.

Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

3 in Tac Scan seems pretty pointless to me. Plus I love weapon damage.

I spec into damage v armour as Arc grenades already do decent damage to shields.

 

If you are creating TBs - which is his talent then it probably doesnt matter a lot as long as you have electrical damage in Arc grenades and burning dam in incinerate. Tac scan tends  to be an all or nothing power for me.

Thanks everyone. Yep, definitely not putting any points into tactical scan then.

This kit is ridiculously fun to play.


I suppose another alternative is to go 4 fitness 4 tactical scan?

Unfortunately I'm not that great a player to go without any fitness investment. I've tried it with the demolisher....it wasn't pretty. :(

My favorite gun to use with him is the Arc Pistol and I go 6/6/6/5/3. ^_^

The higher your difficulty level, the more you get out of Tac Scan, in my opinion.  It's almost pointless on Silver, and its biggest advantage on that level is highlighting a Banshee/Praetorian/Phantom so PUG teammates are less likely to get snuck up on and sync-killed.  When you get to Gold or especially Platinum, Tac Scan really helps in taking down bosses more quickly.  I don't recommend speccing out of it for higher levels, and at least Rank 4 is preferable.

I always spec fully into Tac Scan - Area for the Quarksman and the Engie and damage for the QMI. Awareness is higher on my priority list than shields. The QMI doesn't need it as much, cause he has the "oh, crap" power, so I'd rather get some more damage against bosses. Too bad the headshot evo is bugged.

 

My Engie is specced 66644, with shield damage for the arc grenades (cause he already has excellent anti-armor capabilities).

 

Oh, and Area Scan is a godsend when your teammates force odd spawns behind you. :) Or against the blinky flashlights.

Take away point from fitness. They're not needed with his cc capabilities anyway.

Score (man)wh*re build.

 

Arc nades to strip shield -> shoot a few Lancer rounds until enemy catches fire -> Incinerate for fire explosion,

 

Mooks usually die in one cast. For bosses, rinse and repeat.

 

For enemies with power-denial bubble, scan them and shoot with Lancer, once bubble down, repeat the above step.

I've vacillated between 4 & 6 ranks in Tactical Scan.  Area scan at rank 6 is great for team play -- gives the 'geth scanner' effect without the disorienting overlay.   The increase in damage taken (rank 4)  multiplied by four players really helps take down bosses fast. 

 

Arc grenades -- damage to shields & barriers.  Lately I've taken to bringing the Harrier with him (you're constantly hitting ammo boxes anyway) but venom's fun, too.

I spec mine like this but take weapon damage on Tac scan and radius on incinerate, knowing Mega, he probably takes damage on incinerate, but either are fine.

On the QME, I usually take Tac Scan to 4, with either fitness or passives evolved to 6. As I really enjoy using the Falcon on him and just stagger/combo stuff non-stop, the former option is probably the one I use more frequently. Great character, he´s one of my favorites as well.

Radius on Arc Nades makes up for fitness deficiencies. Arc Nades are stupidly powerful but the real power of the kit is being able to effortlessly string together fire explosions and tech bursts. I only use Tac Scan for bosses BUT generally I only use my weapon for singles and bosses anyways. Also go radius on incinerate to not miss but not really as necessary if you open with arc nades anyways. Arc Pistol is pretty good on him, AP rounds, heavy barrel and power amp. Or you could go Lancer and incendiary cheese.
