So, I'm really starting to get into the MP side of things and I really enjoy playing the slayer - although I know I belong in Bronze/Silver but have ventured into Gold games (Bronze is becoming a bore and the ROI is too low).

What is an effect build for an N7 Slayer?

Two popular ones, 6/6/6/5/3 to take full advantage of all his powers, or 6/6/0/6/6 if you're like me and dislike Biotic Slash. I put the Talon on him because that's what I use, but something like a Tempest, Locust, or Eviscerator will be fine on Silver.

66066 with venom

I never found use for biotic slash. Some like it but I hate it and so, I spec out of it.

Biotic Charge: Radius, Power Synergy, Barriers
Phase Disruptor: Damage, Efficient Blast, Armor Damage
Biotic Slash: Damage, Detonate, Damage
N7 Slayer: Damage & Capacity, Power Damage
Fitness: First three ranks

Weapon: Talon, Acolyte, Venom, Wraith, Scorpion, Falcon, Piranha, Eviscerator, Graal, GPS, Arc Pistol, Claymore.

Ammo Bonus: Disruptor or Incendiary III/IV
Weapon Bonus: Pistol Amp I-III
Armor Bonus: Power Amp or Cyclonic I-IV
Gear Bonus: Geth Scanner or Survival Loadout V

Just shoot, prime, Charge and spam your Phase Disruptor at the enemies feet. Use Biotic Slash to hit enemies through walls (This is when Geth Scanner really comes in handy.) and when you don't want to charge at a group of enemies. Abuse the crap out of right hand advantage. Remember that your dogde can teleport you through walls, the same goes for your heavy melee, so use that to get out of a shitty situation.

... Also, use him on host!!!! Yeah! :)

Current build I use on him, you can swap Talon for Acolyte and CSMG, just keep his cooldown at +150% or more and you're good to go, I spent 3 ranks in Biotic Slash in case of dangerous situation where you donnot want to charge, or against crowds of mooks, you can take advantage of Geth scanner and spam Biotic Slash behind a wall while keeping a safe distance.

Also make sure you play on host, even slight lag can make him a pain to play.

That was most effective on Vanilla Glacier, but now, we have crates.

Exact same build as Pheabus here.

Or what Tchoky said if you're comfortable enough with only 3 ranks in fitness. But don't play off-host in that case !

Skip slash.

Yeah I used to skip Slash completely like many others suggest, then somehow I found it useful while doing hacks or dealing with sync-killing bosses, so I dropped 6 points in passive (10% weapon damage) to get 3 ranks into it, guess I don't lose much for that, he's not a weapon platform anyway.

With pistol power maganifier and power amplifier IV, Biotic slash deals 1500+ damage, so you can finish off/ weaken crowds of mooks from a safe distance.

He's a beast on host, with or without Biotic Slash though.

Just one more thing: never play him off host.

I'm using pretty much the same build as Pheabus (6/6/3/5/6), mostly with incendiary ammo, Hurricane and Acolyte or Talon. And currently I go for melee damage on rank 4 fitness, just trying it out.

I don't skip Slash because sometimes I like to use it during hacks or to soften up enemies before shooting them>charge>PD (or one PD and then charge if I feel like it).

And let's not forget, it's always better to host with him, no other character suffers this much from lag. If the other host is decent, he is just slower, but on host he is a beast.  ^_^

Could have resulted in a "1v1 babby" message if we were on the same platform  :D.

Or I could answer that Slash is for those... who can use 3 powers  :P !

That's true, they probably spec out of Fitness.

I put 3 in Slash for the occasional stagger and 5 in the passives - then maximum cheese with Acolyte/Hurricane and incendiary ammo ... I am a bad, bad person.

Then ascend, babby! :D

And I could answer that I have no use for a power that takes 2 secs to cast, leaves me exposed, and does half the damage I could do in those 2 secs while using my gun and the other powers! :P

I have a computer... so I could do that. But I'm too lazy to learn how to play with a mouse and a keyboard so I will probably stay a console scrub forever :( .

Slash doesn't let you exposed if you use it through walls. Plus it allows you to use 2 powers when you can't charge (during hacks, escorts...), gives you more options and more variety in the gameplay. As Pheabus said, the Slayer isn't a weapon platform so skipping the rank 6 of the passives isn't a big deal IMO.

It could still be good enough? I say try it for a few games and see for yourself.

I despise Slash BUT it's nice when you're lagging or in a hack for CC. It's worth at least a few points, even if the electric cartwheels ****** me off.

Yeah I hear you. If I ever was to pick up a controller, I'd be the scrubbest of all scrubs XD

And yeah putting 3 ranks in slash isn't going to make or break anything of course. I just don't like the idea of sacrificing even a tiny bit of weapon damage in order to get something I'll only ever use once in... Like, 4 matches. Even during hacks and escorts, it's usually very feasible to keep using PD and charging outside the circle. Given the discrete nature of the calculation of those objectives' speed, charging at a range that allows you to get back into the circle in one or two dodges doesn't slow them down. If the enemy is further than two dodges, on the other hand, slash isn't gonna hit them anyway. So there are very few circumstances in which I'd ever use that power... So to me, it's preferable to have 10% weapon damage bonus. Besides, in this way I avoid shaking the screen of all lobbies in the world at the same time... XD
