Yes it's in the Scuttlebutt section. And do you know what? It's a positive thread, it may be silly, but at least it's positive. And positivity is something that this forum needs because there have been a lot of infighting, crushed expectations and mixed emotions. Why do you think that the romance thread is cluttered with fish jokes? Because people got sick and tired of arguing and decided to do something fun instead for a few hours. You want to be negative? Fine! but please, don't bring us down with you.

If I were to vent about anything it'd be:

- Romance is ridiculously overhyped. I understand loving the romance aspect of the game but seriously most of the questions I see are about romance God dammit there are other aspects in the game I want to learn about, like how this new resource "Focus" works, switching weapons, cross class combos, the length of the story, the big bad of the story, the minor big bads of the story, conflicts that you'll encounter, types of enemies you'll encounter, a city's environment (so far we've only seen tress, deserts, villages, tents and castles). We've already got 6/8 confirmed romances with their sexuality set, I'm curious about the other two but I'd love to know more about the game in general...

- Sexuality's topic is also ridiculous, for a few reasons. Let me clarify that I'm referring to people who read too much into one's sexuality like "oh my God this guy is gay bla bla bla bla..( some homophobic comment about how horrible that character is going to be or some silly comment about how Bioware only cares for gays and are shafting straight fans) or one's who go "We need more gay and lesbian characters! We also want a transexual and asexual and catsexual romances!" Now I'm okay for stating it on occasion nicely as a suggestion but not every single time it could get mentioned. I'm a guy who won't engage in sex until I get married, I'd love to have such a romance in a game but I've never found myself spamming Bioware for it or even asking to begin with. Simply because it doesn't matter, it's a game, it's not real. I can still form a connection with my pc while doing things I may not necessarily do in real life, in fact I think it's okay to have a pc who's completely different than you, you get to experience another side of you you may be curious about but never let out. Incredible writers who wrote incredible stuff, it's not unfair for them to write the story the way they want and see it. Even forgot to mention those comments about "Oh gosh! This guy is supposed to be gay but he's completely insulting to the gay community because he has a mustache! (shallow immaturity at its finest)" or "My straight romance is ruined because Cassandra looks like a man! (as if you don't have another option)". If I find myself in disapproval of someone's orientation or for whatever reason I'll just put it aside because that someone also has a personality outside the kind of people he likes and wants to have sex with, and if I like his orientation but I don't like his personality I won't cry all day because of it, again I have another choice.

So basically, I love the romance and sexuality aspects of the game but it's just really annoying seeing people complain all day about how they kind find their perfect match in a game that gives you 2-3 options to choose from, you're bound to at least like one of them because each choice has a different personality, love is not just about cherishing the similarities but it's also about understanding ones differences.

Plus, opposites attract. A mage+A templar? A Mage+a Seeker? Sounds fine to me.

I romanced Morrigan as a Templar in DA:O and Fenris as a mage in DA2. I don't see the problem either.

I wonder if my qunari lady Inquisitor will find love since my plan A: Dorian and plan B: Cassandra for her had to be abandoned. I have plans C and D, Solas and Varric but there is high change Blackwall is going to be LI instead or that Solas or Varric is race-gated towards qunaris. Lol, this match-making is exchausting!

 

Not a big problem but only one I feel like venting about at the moment

I'll toss another gripe out there for good measure: I simply do not understand the fanatical devotion that Cullen has inspired. His thread has 1,248,688 views and 56,175 replies. Seriously? I didn't even notice the guy on my playthrough of Origins, and in DA 2 he came across as merely another one of Meredith's lackeys.

Aye, it is quite odd, I barely noticed him in my playthroughs too, he was there I suppose but only as a background sort. I don't dislike him, that would require me to be aware of him.  I'm rather indifferent to him, maybe this new game will make him somewhat interesting, we'll see.

The Cullen thread is huge because:

 

- It hasn't restarted like other fan threads

- Every time someone comes in to gripe about Cullen's popularity, the threads goes at a speed of 20 posts per minute

- It's also a nice place as a hangout

 

But really, the largeness of a thread shouldn't really mean anything.

I was not targetting you specifically. Just because the OP said 'whatever' doesn't give you a pass to b**** about people liking stuff that you don't.

Precisely it's a very active thread because there's always something going on- this morning we had a discussion about using Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment in relation to mage-templar interactions, the other day we had a photoshop challenge it's never dull.

I don't think that's the problem but BW forums seem to have "No insulting fellow fans policy" which is why some threads has been closed before for example. I didn't see your post as anything insulting but I figured out to tell you that although OP said you could went about anything mods might disagree ^^

And I might as well romance the character that feels less annoying to me. This is actually something that had been bothering me for an while, how I'm not even choosing the romance I like the most, but instead is the romance that annoy me the least. DA2 left me with that very bitter taste.

The romance path they went in DA2, I hated it even though such an opinion is flat out offensive here all the times I've expressed it. Don't care it's how I feel even though I am a member of that community I still found it unbelievable.

 

And like you I too am underwhelmed with the options so far, time will tell if they grow on me or not.

Varric, I think. But I doubt he will be an option. I already plan on romancing Iron bull with my female Qunari Inquisitor, but she will be for my secondary save of the game. My main game will consist of an human mage, and so far I don't see anyone that will really match with him.
