When exactly would everyone prefer to send the DA team their goodies?

- Before launch.
- During launch.
- After launch.

Honestly, after launch. I think it would help better with morale, a pick-me-up from the stress from launch and after-launch, plus this whole thing was originally meant to thank the team for their work on DA:I and Cullen rather than just Cullen. (And also because there's going to be backlash after launch because there's always backlash and that means getting a treat and a big thank you like this would definitely be a welcome pick me up for the team)

^ Good points. Another idea could be to deliver the cake to them at launch, let's say October, 7th. as a celebration that the game is out. However, we would need to ask Allen if anybody is in the office that day. I could imagine that the whole team is at home and catching up on some sleep. If October, 7th isn't an option I would also vote for after launch.

I agree on the after the launch. Because there is a small chance that they RUINED CULLEN FOREVER!!! Seriously, before thanking for something, we need to play with that something first :) However finding everyone after the launch may be difficult, so I think we should all approve the project, the date, the design, and collect the money before the launch.

I think either way his character development goes, the 'thank you' will be warranted. I can't see them ruining him.

But we should be clear in our note to them that we know he isn't fan service and we know they did not put him in because we like him, just that we appreciate that we can continue to observe the development of a character who obviously has depth and.. you know what I mean? There's been so many hateful comments previously about him only being included because he has a small but very vocal set of fans that I'd hate for our 'thank you' to be taken as "proof" of that..

As for when, I had previously suggested the week before launch, but am willing to go with after if that's what most people want. I'm easy ;) Not like that :P

I am flexible either way. The only thing is if it after launch hopefully, soon after launch--I imagine after putting in so many hours on the game many of the staff would take a vacation :D

Maybe we could ask Allan if we send if after launch, how soon would be the best time.

I agree with collecting the money and making the arrangements beforehand as after launch people will be super busy playing DAI :)

Ahh that is a good point, how many of them are going to be there in the weeks after launch. I will message Allan and suss it all out.

I'm on board with either before or after launch. If we send it post-launch I think it's a good idea to make sure that people will still be around. I

think we should avoid launch week since they'll probably have plenty of celebration of their own prepared for the release day and the days right before/after.

Right, I asked Allan and he said that some people start to take their vacations post-ship. It means that there might be a chance we could miss some people that are crucial to our thank you. Thoughts?

Well, I think as we are thanking them for Cullen specifically and the game more generally that it's probably appropriate to send the cake soonish.  They've released the his character information, we know he's a straight LI and he's a major player in the game.  If he's our main reason for the cake then I can't really see any reason to delay.

Also, I suppose that they are currently doing the hard yards finishing off the game and that's probably when you need a little pick me up in the form of gratitude rather than once you've finished and the after party has started.

These are just some thoughts.  I'll happily support whatever the group decides is best.  :)

Early September was suggested by DragonRacer who has experience in doing all of this.

I'd like to avoid missing people if possible, maybe early September is a better time. It's nice to think we can make a gesture that would help boost morale.  <3

Also I don't know if it is a good idea to include people's criticisms of Cullen's inclusion in our thank you. I think we can express appreciation of Cullen without dignifying the fan service criticisms; we can prove it false indirectly by being honest with our sentiments. We don't have to prove anything to them anyway.

I really think we should stick to the positive. They're working really hard, really long hours...Why remind them of the hateful things some people say?

Yes, I guess prior to launch is a good idea, before people start taking vacations.

I would suggest before launch, as soon a a possible, end of August. :)

Perhaps this is the place were I can help with suggestions because I also work for a games developer at EA and think I have a pretty good idea of what goes on at BW.

After launch loads of people will take vacations, sabbaticals, contracts end and so on. They will be shuffled around onto new projects and teams. So a lot of people who worked on the game will be gone. Perhaps they will even do a large ramp down the last two month.

After launch there will be at least one small group left working on fixing emergency bugs and one group doing DLCs and extra content.

I also think we should avoid launch day. I promise you they will get treats and celebrate, so some Cullen Cupcakes will not be noticed.

Right now most people are crunching like hell. No vacations and just never ending overtime. This is the point in the project were I would have wanted fan appreciation the most to keep me going. :)

I didn't mean we should say anything about the hateful things people have said, just that the wording of our note be thankful in general and not add to the fuel haters use for their fire. I'm sorry, I apparently didn't word my post very well.

Very helpful indeed :D Nice to have a bit of insider info that way. End of August/Early September sounds good, if we can get everything arranged.

So everyone is content with doing this for the end of August?
