My god, it's far more like a ME2 demo than an early ME1 build. Look how much more awesome the powers look & feel. Even the weapons feel like ME2, and the galaxy map.

Why couldn't ME1 be more like that instead of the major downgrade we got in the end?

They build these games on NASA computers, that's why they always look so awesome in E3 demo's and such.

(not really sure if NASA computer is a common expression... super PCs, lets stick to that)

Thankfully, Male Shep got an upgrade for release though :P

Can't really agree. Nothing feels like ME2 :/

Except the look, everything is far darker and shinier to hide the sub-par graphics,

Planet labels are the only thing close to ME2, the rest 99% of the galaxy map never hit the shelves, digital or physical :/

There was also destruction in another ME1 demo. And interrupts. And much more ME2 brought to life.

ME1 was great, bud. Stop hatin.

Although I wish some of the stuff they showed in those demos made it to the final game. Like being able to control your squadmates directly and the superior squadmate commands.

Ashely used to be British? :o

Interesting to see what Bioware could have done. I must disagree with the early looking or feeling like ME2, however.

Anybody notice that the premise of "This is YOUR story" and "an entire galaxy waits to be explored" has been ripped off by the (currently minimal) Mass Effect 4 hype? Sigh...

That actress sounds American or Canadian to me.

One of the ideas that was scrapped was the fact that missions were all supposed to be timed and choosing one mission meant that you might not be able to complete another one.  One of the early trailers that came after this hinted at that.

It would have been interesting if they had introduced some of the stuff that had gotten cut from the first game in the later installments.

My guess is that they originally meant for exploration to be a core part of the series when they made ME1 but it certainly disappeared for the rest of the series.

I'm guessing you are talking about this one:
