How much does the bee thing cost, out of curiosity?

A gift of bees for one family is $30 through HI; to contribute to one through this group is however much you like. My plan was to put in the 3 I'd been planning on, and then add however much everyone else chips in and fill in myself to round it up. So if, for example, 3 people put in $5 each and 3 put in $1 each, I'll add another $12 and we'll sponsor 4 in total.

EDIT: to clarify, I will of course be going through HI; by "through this group" I just mean I can consolidate things for people who would like to go in on one.

OK! Anyone who would like to chip in a buck or two for bees can PayPal any amount they'd like to owlfruitbees@gmail.com any time before the end of the day on Friday 10 October. I'll send HI the $ the next morning, and since other people are going in I'll ask if we can postscript a notice of that to the main cake note instead of just my mini-note (although it will still be marked as from everyone involved in the cake thing for simplicity. And I hope we are still doing mini notes--I saved all my thoughts for that when the #IPlayBioware tag was going on!). I will also post a screenshot of the electronic receipt here just so I'm not pulling anything over on anyone.

Received both -- many thanks!! I'm kind of a Vulcan in my day to day personal interactions but I honestly got a little choked up about the generosity of everyone who's chipped in, and the support for the idea from the cake group at large! I'll post our final number and the order confirmation tomorrow.

OK! Seven teams of bees have now been deployed to fight Earth poverty instead of Thedosian ogres and Red Templars. Screenshotted the receipt, for your peace of mind, and an ecard (which, don't worry, I didn't send) because that's the only place where you can put the To: and From: .

OMG . I'm blown away by everybodys generosity. This is so cool . Shouldn't we include the ecard in our letter? I know that Owlfruit has asked Shadow to write a few lines about the bees but I really like the graphics of the ecard. If this is too complicated then never mind...

Ahh, that's so awesome. Love the ecard as well. Thanks for posting it! Tbh I did not even read properly what the initiative was all about. I gues you could put "can of beer for my bf" and I'd still chip in
