Game looks amazing guys and gals! You are awesome :)

I started a similarish thread, but the discussion became soley about damage numbers. So thought I would ask a more focused question.

Will PC gamers be able to scale the graphics settings to such a degree that we could replicate the PS3/360 graphical fidelity?

The only reason I ask is I have a computer that can run any PS3/360 port on high, but I doubt it would be able to run a PS4 port amazingly (HD6850 1GB)

So I wonder how scalable the game is going to be in relation to the PC release? Will we be able to turn off a lot of the aesthetic effects like particle physics or turn down draw distance etc ?

It might help with my framerate when the game finally releases :P

If my PC isn't up to scratch I'll just get the PS3 version, but I just thought I would ask :)

AWESOME looking game guys and gals, really excited :)

Ummmm, most (if not all) gameplay footage we've seen so far was from the PC version, played with a XBOX controller.

Besides, since when do console versions look better than PC?

Not to start any console wars, but it is a scientific fact that PC capabilities are far superior to any existing games console (subject to your PC specs).

The shipped game will potentially look best on PC.

We don't know how the game will perform yet. They have yet to nail down any of the system requirements, and we don't know how well it will scale.

Your best bet would be to look at Battlefield 4, and see how well that scales to your system. Although Dragon Age is obviously a newer title, both are Frostbite 3 and Battlefield would serve as a decent enough benchmark until we get some system requirements from the dev team.

The devs have said frostbite 3 is pretty scalable, so I would imagine that we have plenty of graphics options, especially since the game can run on ps3/ xbox360.

But, with your card, I would think you should be able to get a decent framerate with better graphics than xbox360/ps3. I'd think it would be close if not matching the ps4/xbone level.

Maybe you'll want to wait for the minimum requirements before you decide, but with your card, I would recommend getting the pc version over the ps3 version. I'd imagine you'd have more framerate problems with the ps3.

You missed the OP's point, if the game can scale down to PS3/XBox360 graphics it'll run quite decently on lower end GPUs.

Which by the way I totally support since my GPU ain't that good and I really want to enjoy the game without suffering 20 FPS on low-medium settings.

Well before I switched to a pair of R9 290's I did have a 1GB  Radeon HD6770 running with an old AMD Athlon II X4 630 and 8GB Ram and that would run Skyrim on High with quite a few of Cabal's AMiddianBorn Texture mods and I would get an average of 40FPS@1920x1080 though on occasion it would drop to 15FPS in places it was stable.

I have since switched to a i5 4670K 16GB 2400Mhz Ram and the 2 R9 290's as mentioned but i digress that being said I reckon you should be able to run it better then a PS3 though that's a guess as you haven't mentioned what the rest of you system is.

Well hopefully DAI being on the Frostbite engine will have that resolution scale thing that BF4 did, that really helped the game run smoothly on older rigs. Otherwise you should be fine by lowing the graphic options to low/medium and playing on 900p. Turning off particle effects should also help out a lot.

Yeeah, he wasn't asking if it will be on par with the PS3 version, he was asking if you can scale down the PC version to that level.

But to answer the question, Frostbite is an excellent and very flexible engine. I'm sure you can make the game suite your specs no problem.

so let me get this straight, you want to downscale a beautiful game when you can probably run it at its full capability? im confused

Is the question better phrased:  "Can we turn down graphics to minimize the chance that the game is going to crash over and over?"

If that's the question, yes, me too.  Can we?

in previous dragon age games you could tweak the graphics on the pc version so i doubt this will be an exception

That's the neat thing about PC games. If your PC isn't capable of running it at it's prettiest without tanking the framrate, you can lower the settings and get a smoother experience at the expense of pretties. A lot of the time, it will still look better than the console versions anyway. Well, prior to the new hardware anyway.
