There's one thing I'd like them to take care of regarding mounts. The movement animations. I hope it's not like in an MMO where pressing the directional buttons immediately forces your horse to turn like a puppet rather than the natural lag that occurs when you want the beast to turn and respond. I hope they craft that right, otherwise it can be very immersion breaking.
As for the mounts themselves, yes I do believe we will see wyverns as mounts in the game.
Lizards are cool but I want a mount like the Elk from Princess Mononoke. His name was Yakul if I am not mistaken.
Here is Yakul from the movie itself :-
The was even a Skyrim mod based off the lovely Elk :- http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/50320/?

Dead thread, and I doubt Wyverns will be available as mounts.
Those Dracolisks already look too much like an attempt to avoid the need to do a new animation set for a dragon-like mount. But hopefully you could just make a few tweaks to your existing Wyvern baddie to make this a reality. A wonderful, wonderful reality.
In short, I'm here to show my overwhelming support for the idea of a dedcated Wyvern mount.
A perfect mount for my dragon lady qunari inquisitor.

Yep. Ever since Mark of the Assassin I wanted a Leopold. Such a perfect name too.
I'm thinking "Franklin" for mine.
Franklin the Wyvern. Make it happen Bioware. Else give me a Creation kit and I'll be happy too.
Pretty sure the devs said several times we would not get Wyverns-that we would get different lizard creatures- looks like dracolisks are it.
Look how large maps are in Battlefield (if you've ever played it). It can take a good amount of time to run on foot across any of them. Awhile back someone calculated it took about 1/3rd the time to run across one medium sized map that it takes to run across in Skyrim. Now that may not be the most reliable, but if you even go off an area 1/5th the size of Skyrim's map per a medium map? Plenty of uses for a mount. Add to that it's ultimately a speed boost it can let you get past encounters you want to avoid.
Simple example, say you've been around a good bit of the map. You hit up a camp (probably via fast travel) and there's a dungeon past some encounters you want to avoid to limit the amount of potions you may potentially lose getting there. Get on a mount, and run past/skirt around them quickly. I doubt anyone expects to be on mounts 24/7 or 'needing' it to get anywhere in any timely manner. But they'll have their uses, and if Battlefields any example of how large the maps 'can' be, and based off the information we have on how big they probably are in relation to that? Yeah, you'll find a use outside of being there just for the hell of it.

They have, in fact here Mark Darrah states explicity they're not in the game as mounts.
Just recommending they change it. Because I like them. Others like them. They're fantastic creature design and it's established lore they're trainable as mounts (granted we can assume Leopold is very uncommon).
So...Profit?!

Yeah i would like a Wyvern for my Qunari playthrough- so hopefully DLC.
Curious what the exotics are, honestly. I'm assuming the Bog Unicorn will end up in that. I'm also assuming it's for the other assortment of stuff that isn't those 3. I'm guessing they don't have alternate versions (or only 1 alternate version if any) while the other 3 are probably from 3 separate groups of ranchers that raise that specific mount (Horse, Hart, Dracolisk). Just an assumption, anyway.
Really would like to see the Dracolisk. The picture makes it look like a skinner scaled horse with a lizard head, kinda hoping they're bulkier then that.
Spoiler
This is from the new twitch stream here. I counted 10 out of the 30 mounts to be horses. At the very least 9 out of 30 were Exotics. They didn't open up the Dracolisk or Hart tabs.
Well done. I remember that 30 mounts was mentioned but can't recall when. I still think those Exotics are probably rigged up to the same horse skeleton/animation set. But who knows? Maybe there are a couple surprises in there.
I want to ride an overgrown mabari.
I've seen the concept art for the dracolisks. They are basically scaly horses.
Sorry, but that isn't a wyvern or a drake, or close enough for me.
Holding out for mount DLC!
Yea that's what I'm expecting. As mentioned it's easier to do a horse retexture and call it a dracolisk than it is to do another set of animations for the wyvern. Better than nothing as the developer's resources are what they are. But I think a lot of people would endorse it as flavor DLC if it's not too much to ask.
Anyway, unless there are a great deal of iteractions/emotes done from horseback I can't imagine it would take longer than an afternoon for an animator to do. Of course there's likely a pipeline of QA to do as well...but this seams reasonable? It may take a great deal more effort to "properly" write them into the story however.
The mechanics of it shouldn't be too remarkable if they have an existing model and skeleton to work from (as the one seen in the trailers). So if there is a creation kit I'd be happy to take on doing just such a mod if there are no plans for it already. I really enjoyed making a few for Skyrim.

Dragon Age posted it on their facebook page, and I'm quite certain they tweeted a link as well. Clicky the spoiler to see it again if you'd like. ^^
Surely the animations for a wyvern walking/running would be a LOT different than the horse/"unicorn"/"Red Hart" they've shown... I'd just be surprised if they spent extra resources crafting an entirely separate rig used to make the wyvern... And if you scaled a wyvern down to the size of a horse, I think it would look really weird. I'm pretty sure when they say lizard-like mounts, they're saying that because it's NOT a wyvern. I hope I'm wrong, though!
i think the sizes will vary, looking at the videos, the "Hart" mount is like twice the size of a horse, its frickin huge.
Dear Maker I hope so. Wyverns look awesome, and if I can't ride a dragon, I'll take the second-best option.
I know they're dangerous, blood-thirsty, territorial lizards which have deadly poisons they like to spew at you... but I think they're also kinda cute. So yeah, I want one, if only to make the stables in Skyhold a bit more interesting.
