good idea for dragon age or next rpg since most next gen have camera it would be a cool idea to load one face into the game then transform it to the main character profile then make into what ever race this could be a good add on to da

I could have sworn there was a topic like this a few months ago. (or was it about using your own voice?)

Its an interesting idea, but one I would never make use of. Seeing as I dont want to see myself in game ;)

Oooooh no, I don't have a character creator in order to stare at my OWN backside for 100 hours of gameplay

Well that alone would make the Kinect worth it.

Kinect Adventures does something like that.

This idea reminds me of an old ps2 eye toy game. It was just these mini games with the eye toy but you also had a little character where you could use the camera to put your face on it so after each mini games the different characters (with each person's face on) would cheer if they won or slap another character and such like. It would always make me laugh anyway.

I don't think I really want my face in dragon age though. I'd love to record a few lines for a side character, just like a randomer in a pub or something.

I can't imagine ever wanting such a thing.

And my face certainly doesn't suit the female dwarf I have planned for my second playthrough.

I know they used to have this option for some of the EA sports games. It was fun but you always came out of it looking like a burn victim.

So I guess the resource does exist at EA, but I'm not entirely sure of the implementation.

I'm good, I dread looking at myself in the mirror, I really don't want to stare at myself for hours while I play a game.

I agree about not really wanting the face thing, but if they want to more personalize the game, they should start adding some first names.  Obviously there's too many names to add anywhere remotely near everybody's, but giving you the option to give your character, should you so choose, one of maybe a hundred or so names (maybe more, maybe less, whatever number works best) , perhaps skewed toward the more gender-neutral type names, such as Chris, Sam, etc. so that your character could be called by their first name, that'd be a pretty cool thing to try.  So long as they didn't use too many names that it became an inconvenience to put in the game, it could add a whole new level of customization for your character, to hear your character's chosen first name spoken in the game.  Obviously if none of the names offered were to your liking you could stick with 'Inquisitor' 'Warden' etc. so there wouldn't be any downside to it, all positives.  It's something I'd like to see done at some point, it's at least worth a try :) .

I don't have such a big ego that i need to stare at myself for 60-100 hours. Tbh, I wouldn't even want them wasting resources on this.

Thanks, but no thanks. While I often enjoy giving PC's my red hair and blue eyes, my visage is akin more to Opie Taylor; not a heroic character of Fantasy.

the technology for such a thing exists, but you need to remember that the system will only handle so many pixels, and when you use this tech, it copys your face inch for inch, which results in a hell ovalot of pixels, plus an ordinary camera wouldnt do that, it doesnt have the multitude of sensors and cameras to get every angle of your face. I've seen and tested this tech and its truly amazing to see, but a domestic camera wouldnt be able to handle it right now

Actually I tried to do this multiple times in DAO with the character creator but failed. I couldn't find my nose, my hair (they were ridiculously long at the time) and my chin. Plus all the upper lip options are more sharp than mine. Tried some mods but they didn't work well. Male characters with spirit of the forest hair turned out to not be such a good idea. So I made a jawman with the longest hair I could find and a stupid avatar expression and called it a day ;p . Reflects my inner self ^^

That would probably make for the f*ck ugliest female Qunari Inquisitor I've ever seen.

Do want for the entertainment value. Ugly Shepard got squat on that one.

When I want a character who looks like me I use the CC to make it. I'm much more likely to do this if the CC allows you to customize your body not just your face.

Not something I would do at all, I don't even like making characters that are supposed to be 'me'. I always make characters that I have written stories for/role play/just created for the sake of RPGs be it dnd etc. I also play male characters, and I have a rather soft pacific islander face with a lot of rounds, so that'd be just weird.

I have a feeling it would have a sort of uncanny valley effect for me.

This would take the term self-insert to a literal level. I'm personally not crazy about the idea as I always enjoyed making my characters from scratch and giving them their own identities.

I don't self insert. However, it would be interesting to try and take a few pictures from different angles, make a texture out of them and slap it on my character's face. For science. Even if the model isn't perfect, textures alone make a lot of difference. I have a feeling it would be very creepy.

I could do without this feature as well. I never view the protagonist as being 'me' in the game world.
