Did Hawke save Thedas? From where I'm standing, she mostly broke things.

I think two stories where lesbians save the world doesn't stretch credulity too much, but I might be biased.

It's a fantasy game - the world being saved by non-straight people time and again is hardly less realistic than any of the other things people suspend their disbelief for implicitly.

Most things about fantasy games are unrealistic. The fact that your characters continually bumble into saving the world is, in itself, unrealistic. I'm concerned with what's fun, not what's entirely realistic when held up to the microscope. If people enjoy playing straight characters, or gay characters, or always men, or always women, or elves every time they have the chance, what difference does it make to anyone else? People that like a varied assortment of characters can do that. People that like playing the same sort of character can do that. I couldn't care less what sort of heroes someone else wants in their world state. Being able to choose your own is a part of what makes Bioware's games appealing.

It just occurred to me that if Vivienne isn't the last LI, there'd only be one straight female option (Cassandra) in the game. I just can't see Bioware doing that; I'm sure they'd pander at least a little to what is commonly perceived as the main demographic of video game players, which is straight males. Already, I see a lot of twerps making comments on YouTube about how they'll be staying away from DAI because 'it's that gay game' or some other such nonsense.

Accordingly, I'm predicting that the last two LIs will be Solas and Vivienne and that both will be straight.

Why not make her bi? It's not like the kind of people who'd care about that would even notice, because they're probably not interested in playing as female characters either.

Bisexual females like Josephine pander to straight males just as much, the only difference is that they are attracted to both men and women... but that doesn't stop a straight man from being able to date them.

I personally want Vivienne as a LI purely because I'm intrigued by her (even though I'll probably not even romance here, she is totally not my type), I also think Varric will be the LI this time around, just a hunch though.

Nah they think that bisexual = gay, which is actually pretty bothering and stupid of them to think.

Dragon Age didn't have more than one straight female in either of their other games, so it wouldn't surprise me at all. DA2 didn't even have one straight female love interest, yet it had a straight male.

If it's really that stupid, maybe you shouldn't let it bother you.

They'll still romance a bisexual female. Once again, Leliana is the most romanced LI in Origins.

And youtube comments are a wasteland of meaninglessness and posturing. I bet 99.9% of the dude!bros talking about how DA2 was super gay and PC will play the hell out of Inquisition in November, enjoy it, and then immediately start polluting internet comments with how horrible and super gay DAI is and blah blah blah BW has gone to far! lather rinse repeat

Vivienne being bi is a possibility, but for evenness' sake, I think both Solas and Vivienne will be straight. Also, bearing in mind everything I know so far about the character, I think Vivienne may not even brook the idea of being with a woman, especially given her position. I don't know, is Thedas as homophobic as the real world is? As I've opined before, I have a feeling that Vivienne will be the Morrigan of DAI.

Also, now that it's almost a given that Indira Varma is playing Vivienne, I don't think Bioware would miss giving quite a well-known actor more prominence and more stuff to do by having her character be a LI.

I didn't really say it bothered me, and it kinda doesn't. But from what I've seen from internet arguments about the issue, a lot of people do get annoyed by that logic.

What if the last two romances are a lady working at the tavern and a Chantery bother? And I've wrong about Vivienne and Blackwall this whole time.

They said the 8 romances are inside the companions and advisors.  :P

I honestly don't think they're gonna have any more straight LIs. The only one of the companions left that I think might be straight is Varric, and I'm leaning more toward thinking he won't be a love interest.

My only small worry is if Solas was supposed to be the original straight male LI and Cullen is the race-gated 'extra' that they added when they found out they had more development time.

I'm just hoping that if they found they had more time, they wouldn't use it to add more straight LIs. I'd think they'd want to use it to add more diversity, not give straight folks the most options (again).

I feel pretty confident that Bioware will offer Vivienne and Solas as bisexual options and make things even. I would be surprised if things were substantially unbalanced based on the public face they've put out.

This. I want to believe that there will be equal options for every gender/sexuality combo and the only imbalance (that 'not quite perfect balance' the developers keep reminding us exists) will come with the addition of race-gating. I would be TOTALLY fine with that. I'm WAY less concerned about my race selection limiting my options than I am about my gender/sexuality being what limits my options. To be honest, I haven't even decided what race I'm gonna play to begin with.

EDIT: I wish the devs (rather, the marketing team) would just tell us "Yes, every gender/sexuality combination will have equal (3) options." or "No, straight players are gotta get an extra". I just want to stop stressing about it. I don't even care WHO it is at this point. If they can't tell us names, just tell us their sexualities. That's all I want and then I'll be able to breathe.

With only two race gated LIs in the mix, even that probably won't be felt too strongly. I'm very hopeful that it's the only imbalance we'll see and hopefully it'll be one male and one female gated LI. It's a pretty small slight against anyone and gating against imaginary races is by far more acceptable than against real world groups, imo.

To the edit; It would definitely be nice if they could just tell us that much. It would definitely take a lot of the stress out of things if everyone could at least know there would be equal options all around.

Right? See, that would let them preserve the "mystery" they seem so intent on having while still letting us m/m and f/f players either breathe a sigh of relief or get used to the idea of getting fewer options than hoped for.

It's something I wish marketing would consider, but I somehow doubt they're going to see the suggestion.

Not when it comes to the ladies.

Bisexual = gay only when it's men.

When it's women, bisexual = hawt and time for an orgy.... <_<

If you're a bisexual man, you're really only into men, and you just haven't fully come out of the closet yet. If you're a bisexual woman, you're really only into men, and you're just pretending for attention. In both cases, straight people assume that a bi person's sexuality revolves around men.
