Hmmm...it seems denial of Blackwall being close to calling is still a thing, and there was a skipping of anger straight into bargaining for a cure-fade tear seems a bit far fetched though. Depression and acceptance will happen near or when the game comes out. Don't get me wrong, I would 100% love it if I'm wrong about the Blackwall situation, but It just seems so terribly unlikely. Far more likely to win the lottery at this point.

I think having dragon age give you the choice to romance him knowing he is close the the calling would be great.
Especially if his companion quest was unlocked near the end of the game and had you take him to the deep roads to fight to the death

I suppose it could happen post story since you do apparently get to play on afterwards.  However, if you fight that many darkspawn, how will you get out alive yourself?  Or do you mean to die along side him?  (either way it would not appeal to me)

Whether Varric is romanceable will likely come down to how attached he is to his own weapon.

I really hope Blackwall doesn't die during the events of Inquisition. I don't care if he's an LI, it would SUPER suck to lose a companion like that.

Indeed.  It would be very sad if we witness him fighting to the death in particular.  Though it seems people are really pulling for sad options.  I'm not a fan of sad stories myself.  I play games to get away from such serious issues.  -shrug-

I imagine since you can play post game none of the companions die unless you have a hand in it

Like almost everyone else, I can easily see Vivienne being one of the remaining two simply because she's the only female companion left and it would be an even gender split if she was an LI. However, because she IS the only female left I can easily see her not being romanceable. Having all the female companions romanceable just seems... odd to me. In Origins and DAII there was at least one (Wynne & Aveline) to two (Shale & Bethany) non-LI females. However, Vivienne will more than likely be romanceable to make the LI gender ratio even.

As for the male companions, while I wouldn't mind romancing Blackwall, I just don't think that they're going to go that route with him. Based on some of the dev comments, I think that he'll kind of be the fun mentor type. Plus if Vivienne is the other LI, I can't see Bioware making all of the male LI's for a female PC Warrior Class. So that leave Solas and Varric for the second slot, but I don't think it will be Varric mainly because of Bianca.

That being said, if I had to guess I'm betting on this for the last two LI's and whose racegated:

Cullen/Straight + racegated (Humans & Elves only)
Solas/Straight [Since Cullen is an advisor] or Bi (All Races)
Vivienne/Bi + racegated (Humans & Elves only)

Cassandra/Straight + racegated (Not available for Qunari) [If Vivienne is an LI and not racegated]

Ugh, what?...*sigh* Alright, I'll bite.

 

The reason I say Vivienne will be available is because she's the last woman left in the group, versus the three men that remain. So, it'd make more sense to split it & give us one of the men and the last woman instead of two guys. That's the equality I'm talking about, share the last two slots by giving us one of each gender.   

I'm not stating who I want/think SHOULD be LI's or what I'd like their orientation to be. Hence, why I said "my gut tells me it's going to be."  This topic is meant for us to rank our favorite & least favorite outcomes for the LI's. But since I don't really have any interest in romancing any of the remaining characters (except Varric). I posted who I think the last Li's WILL be, using whatever logic or process of elimination us fans use to come to our own conclusions. My answers were not based on my own bias because if I had my way, Solas/Varric would fill the remaining slots. ( Solas because I happen to think his fandom is full of wonderful people.)

 

As far as my statement about Varric being straight, it's only a matter of opinion, just as Vivienne being Bi is a matter of opinion. I'm not saying gays should be tossed to the wayside, just sharing my personal thoughts as to what the remaining characters/orientations may be. If you think something else, good for you. That's the beauty of being human, we don't have to agree on everything. I'm not the devs, I don't have final say as to who gets to romance who, so don't worry about it. This is a thread where were meant to speculate and that's what I'm doing. I hope that clears things up for you because I have no interest in continuing further.

Gay: Dorian and Sera

I'm not gonna rank anything, but my personal worst case scenario (and thus probable outcome, given the way things have been going) will be Vivienne and Blackwall, both straight, with Vivienne only romancing humans and Blackwall ungated (Cullen will be gated for qunari).

A dev cleared that up. That's an extra NPC you can flirt with and not part of the 8 romances.

There will be other opportunities to flirt with random characters, but there are altogether 8 fully fledged romances, all of them within the companions and advisors and two of them are race-gated somehow. 

 

 

This is a bit of a misconception. There is at least one character who is not a companion or an advisor whom you can flirt with. When Cameron said that there were eight romances, he was referring to eight romances within the companions and advisors.

 

So, rejoice or not as you see fit.

I'm leaning more towards thinking it'll be Vivienne and Varric, largely Varric because of the 2 race-gated romances they mentioned.  Everyone else it's harder to imagine them gated for story reasons, but I suppose anything could happen.  A wilder theory is that maybe the last two are both males and are both racegated and with Iron Bull in the past also gated it might have made sense...I can imagine that frustrating a lot of people though lol.  

 

I have my fingers crossed for Vivienne and Solas personally, although I'd settle for Blackwall as well.

Honestly, given that Varric was a constant companion of Hawke's for the better part of a decade yet nothing ever happens, I can't imagine that the Inquisitor is different. MAYBE if he's race-gated to dwarf only, but that's a lot of work for a race that, in Origins, was played the least. 

 

 

I think you're wrong here, Varric has stated he's not into humans. But that doesn't rule out Elfs. Meaning he could be available to 2 out of 4 races. And Viv is possibly not into the 'lesser races' So maybe she's gated for only Qunari and Humans.

This is hard. On the one hand there could be Solas who could be the intelligent, introvert romance. But then again, Varric could also be the race-gated romance option. I doubt the two remaining ones are both male so for the other one I'm inclined to say Vivienne.

And to clear this up, it's not a dwarf fetish, it's just Varric, blame BioWare for making him so awesome..(in my case at least)
