I'm not sure what you mean. If you don't want them with you at all then you don't have to take them, so that option is already there. In fact in most Bioware games there are come companions I just don't like, so don't take. But it would be nice to have a little more control and turn off the annoying aspects.

Maybe someone will make a mod to turn off the romances.

I mean combats and characters in general. People are complaining about many things. Should we be able to turn things down, just because we can't deal with certain aspects in an appropriate manner? You are NOT forced to romance a certain character, you are not forced to hear them flirting with you after you turned them down. Is it so hard to tell them you are not interested? Would it hurt you that much?

Well, it certainly makes me like them less. If there was a checkbox it wouldn't affect you at all - they would be just like they always are. Why does increasing my enjoyment of the game lessen yours?

It just seems wrong to control characters in a way they weren't designed. Characters in Bioware games have their own personality, and their sexuality or way to flirt with other people is partof it. Just imagine Isabela without hitting on you. It's part of this character and she wouldn't be tha same without it. If you don't like them this way, you should deal with it instead of creating a character that's not the same anymore. Just because you would like them better this way, doesn't mean that it's the right way to change characters in their personality to satisfy the gamers.

You can create a mod if you really want to though. Mods are not from Bioware itself, so I don't care about them. I don't install them anyway.

I still don't understand why how I play the game matters to you. I am not suggeting removing the romances altogether - just don't trigger them. In the previous games I can already suppress their flirting (before it happens) by being mean to them but I would rather not be mean and still be treated with a little respect. I certainly wouldn't tolerate anyone flirting with me at work, but I don't think I am supporessing my work coleagues personalities.

That part is something I agree with and I confess that it wasn't handled well everytime. But it doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to flirt with you. It's just  necessary to get the option to turn them down gently and still get good conversations with them.

But you can't mind control them to stop them from flirting with you, so I don't see how the analogy works.

About the whole "companions uncontrollably flirting with you". There this simple solution which I call "turning someone down". Quite revolutionary really.

Problem is that would be just too easy for some folks that were very loud and very needlessly angry.

In real life, some people flirt first to test the waters, so I enjoyed that realism that was added. I don't think it's really disrespectful unless you turn them down and they keep doing it. Now, that would be wrong, I agree.

Back to the OP's question, I'm pretty sure there's only one possible gay/bi male spot available and while I originally wanted it to be Blackwall or anyone but Solas, I've changed my mind because.. Gareth David Lloyd... and because Ianto. Unless they can come up with a sexier voice/accent for Blackwall (not possible), it's Solas all the way for me.

Ahh, flirting. A new friend of mine was gonna go on a date with a girl he likes, but today she texted him, saying it's too soon for her since she'd just gotten out of another relationship. Lo and behold, an hour or so later and he suddenly starts flirting with me. Hard for me not to punch him in the face for that, but I didn't say anything.
I am REALLY bad at turning people down. A kid a few years younger than me likes me. I have been doing everything to avoid him, even running past rooms he's in. Today I just lied and told him that I am a lesbian. I need to work on turning people down.
Point being that you can't control who flirts with you, but also that letting them down doesn't mean being a jerk to them (though my method wasn't all that good either xD ), so we should be able to get an option to let them down easy. I also liked being able to act as though you didn't know they were flirting, so you just don't address it.

I both expect and hope for Vivienne and Solas. I just don't see Blackwall or Varric actually being options.

In order of favourability? I don't believe Vivienne will not be a romance, so for the bi male LI the ranking is:

Blackwall

Varric

Solas

If Vivienne isn't (not gonna happen in my opinion), it's

Blackwall/Vivienne

Varric/Vivienne

Blackwall/Varric

Blackwall/Solas

Solas/Vivienne

Varric/Solas

Turning the down works fine, but it does change the current relationship.  My point was Solas, based on the small but of info we have, i think he would be an excellent companion to my Necromancer, but if he was to start flirting with my mage it would completely change not just the relationship but also my opinion on the character to the point where I will drop him from my squad and probably ask him to leave the Inquisition.

I don't want another Zevran, well two Zevran's since it seems Iron Bull is going to play that role in Inquisition.

Well, Solas is an introvert.  It's possible he wouldn't be the sort of character to flirt with your Inquisitor unless he/she flirted first.  Maybe he's shy and afraid of rejection!

That's too bad that you would drop a friend altogether if they started some unwelcome flirting.  Most of my closest friends have hit on me at some point - hell, I went on a date with a guy I now consider my best friend!  It was the date that let me know we were better off as friends than a couple.  xP

All I'm saying is, it's not anything you have to lose a great friendship over.

More on topic, my suspicions for the remaining LIs are for Vivienne and Varric.  They seem most likely (famous last words).  Although I would love to see Solas as a romance option.  It'd be nice to have an intellectual character that isn't married to his research.

Josephine suddenly doesn't exist?

Also Cassandra is hot. If you don't want her, we'll take her back and make her bi. ;) (I'm joking, don't kill me)

The other one is bi. I'm not much into those. Didn't care for Leliana for the same reason.

LI' s for straight men seem to be low on Bios list these day.

If you're not willing to choose a bi option, your chances are likely not high of getting another option. But that's on you.

There's quite a difference between only being one option for straight men and you only considering options straight women for... however you call it not being into "those"

And Bioware's effort to offer straight men options looks fine. Everyone has equal options that we know of right now. Bioware just isn't catering to biphobia.
