The Slayer thread got me thinking.. people complain about screen shake making them miss their headshots, but do those people never, ever, ever use powers that shake the screen?

Deerber claims that one of the reasons why he feels Biotic Slash sucks is because it shakes the screen. However, Deerber is a known Drell lover and proud Cluster Grenade spammer. To my knowledge.. there isn't a power that shakes the screen more violently than Cluster Grenades.. maybe Shockwave. Deerber also often mentions the MQI and his Arc nades.. which also shake the screen.

I feel people complaining about screen shake are being hypocrites.. because 2/3 of the powers in the game shakes the screen. Biotic/tech explosions shake the screen, even simple powers like Overload shake the screen. Several Destroyer players hate the Hawk Missile Launcher because it shakes the screen, but Multi-Frags shake the screen so hard it about turns the screen sideways.

So.. if screen shake is such a huge hassle, what are we supposed to do to accommodate these whiners who are uber sensitive to screen shake? Are there any kits in the game who have no powers that shakethe screen? The only one I can think of off hand is the Geth Trooper.. but he makes up for it by blinding people.

No, but it's the internet, so people are gonna complain.

With the amount of powers/ weapons which cause screen shake, who could avoid those things altogether?

Geth Primes are the worst screenshakers of all. Remove them from the game.

Screen shake really doesn't bother me, and I'm mainly a sniper. I think people really do exaggerate how bad it is.

A neat take on this would be a sniper kit that gets an analog to marksman that for X seconds gives you a damage boost, doesn't cloak you, but completely mitigates screen shake. Maybe an accuracy boost too. Not an "infiltrator" but an actual long-range rifle specialist.

Forget the Xbox.. what that does to my stereo speakers is quite disturbing. I think that my subwoofer failed soon after I learned to play the Drell Adept.

I think sometimes people should look inwards ..

Personally, I have no problems missing headshots whether there is screen shake or no

I use screen shaking powers and weapons all the time, but what I don't do is hover around the sniper rifle user like a guilty conscience. the only time I complain about screen shaking is if the douchebag follows me around like I fed him.

I reguraly shake the screen but if we have an escort or a hack, I drop it down to minimum. If someone else is the 'shaker' and I'm a marksman, then I keep my distance as much as possible.
I don't mind or blame anyone for using stuff that's there to use, and expect the same in return.

There are degrees of screenshake. It's only really an issue for me with the Venom, which causes serious headaches. Anything else is ok in my book. It does get annoying when someone uses the same screenshaking ability over and over and over and over and over again. That I never do.

Whenever possible, I try to use any screen shaking powers away from others.  If some one complains (which is rarely), I tell them that I will try to steer clear of them and they should do the same of me.  Of course, going through the middle of the mobs during probe missions makes it impossible to stay out of each other's way but everyone understands that what is needed to get the glittering disco ball to the prom on time.

Screenshake pisses me off, but I also recognize the fact that it exists and I can't stop people from using powers that violently shake the screen. I therefore try to stay as far away from it as possible.

If I use screenshaking powers, you'll just have to deal with it.

I use myself a high variety of kits and weapons, so inevitably some "screen shakers". Consequently, I don't complain too much about that.

The QFE doesn't cause screen shake.   :P

I'll try to cause screen shake when someone keeps calling out the headshot medals that they're earning while we're playing.

No - but I am cognizant of it and try my best to be considerate, particularly if there are snipers on the team. However, if I'm using my Human Female Adept you're just going to have to suck it up because I like hearing six separate booms when I cast shockwave.

Screen shake never bothered me, even when I am sniping or using a precision weapon. I use venom, grenades and make BEs all the time.

But if someone asks me to not use venom or shockwave kit, I will equip something different. Some friends of mine don't like it, so I refrain from using it. If no one speaks up, I don't care even if they are using a sniper rifle.

It doesn't bother you because you find it easy to stay away from the screenshakers, or because you hit your shots anyway?  Because if it's the 2nd one, I find that very hard to believe.  If you're playing with a bad screenshaker, the screen shakes farther than the body size of a mook at mid-long range, which means that any hits you get at that range are pure dumb luck.

EDIT:  Anyway, I spam the hell out of screenshaking powers.  Especially Shockwave.  I probably should have more concern for others when I do this... but I really don't.  Fair is fair though, and I would feel wrong complaining about it if someone else was doing it.
