So really hoping the spirit warrior specialization makes a return, it was my favorite specialization in awakening and I was dissapointed with how badly berserker and reaver played in DA 2 so they need to fix that...well the entire system for the warrior felt weaker in 2, I hope it was overhalled.  I haven't been watching all the gameplay videos I don't want to spoil too much for myself.

well the reason behind there only being 3 specs per class and being limited to only 1 spec is because your spec will be more involved with the game world, to what extent we do not know.

I saw what the mage specializations were and noticed blood mage was missing. Does that mean you can't play as a blood mage at all or does it mean its just not a specialization (as in you can learn it without without using a spec point)?

I think I read something about a Chevalier spec as well. But I'm not sure if that one was legit.

You can't play as a Blood Mage at all, I believe.

That's disappointing. I suppose necromancer sounds pretty fun but I've always liked blood magic.

David Gaider mentioned in his interview with LadyInsanity at Gaymer X that, with the emphasis on the story impact specializations can have, BM would need to be a lot more reactionary than the others.

To be fair in DA2 it didn't make sense that Fenris and Anders would give Merrill such a hard time about blood magic but not even mention Hawke. Also Hawke would sometimes say "blood magic" and shake her fist (okay not quite) when the blood mages were acting up. But still it was worth it for how fun it was to use.

It always struck me as odd that Blood Magic, the "evil" form of magic, the one that Templars are most likely to be chasing after, can be immune to the Templars magic blocking.

I mean, Blood Magic being "bad" came WAY before the Templars. Who thought it would be effective to come up with an order to hunt evil Apostate Mages that made Blood Magic the best alternative to fighting them? That just seems silly. If anything, Templars should have been made to block Blood Magic before normal magic.

Yeah, but Fenris and Anders were in something of a love triangle with my mage Hawke, so my head cannon is that they were projecting their grievance of Hawke using them as living iv bags onto poor Merrill. But that is something I've found humorous ever since DAO. Wynne hates blood mages and Morrigan don't want to be no Faust but they don't say a word when I make them blood mages. And the Landsmeet is pretty funny if a blood mage fights Loghain. "A blood mage just decided the fate of our kingdom! Now march at his command!"

Yeah I always make Wynne a blood mage just to mess with her. Anders at least does mention it in Awakening if you've taught blood magic to him. But he doesn't really start hating on blood magic until he becomes an abomination.

They said your companions and Advisers will mention your specialization quite frequently.

You're thinking about it backwards. Blood magic is simply a type of magic that doesn't have any apparent counter-measure that isn't also blood magic. Templars, also, aren't necessarily the group that invented anti-mage warrior techniques.

Even if they weren't the ones to invent it, it seems silly to adopt.

The people you chase that you can easily subdue likely aren't the ones you are ultimately after. And the ones who are true Blood Mage apostates leave you totally defenseless against their more powerful form of magic.

It just seems like a silly way to organize things. If anything, Templars should have blow darts full of snake venom. That way, they could attack at a distance and do this to Blood Mage's source of power - blood.

I was hoping the blood mage would finally be worth playing as honestly, it always felt weak to me...(not to mention that damn arcane prison in DA 2 should have been an awesome blood magic skill ). As awesome as specializations impacting gameplay sounds (and it really does) that makes me want spirit warrior all the more, the warrior who is connected to the fade, always great, blood magic (but better) I mean these are things that should have been used. (I can't comment on rogue specializations because I never play them)

Do you mean blood magic was weak gameplay wise or story wise? Because I thought blood magic for gameplay (in DA2 more than DA:O) was amazing to the point of almost being over powered (granted I play on hard not nightmare). Merrill and Blood Mage Hawke are like a force of nature.

No blood magic for you.

People have speculated that the Champion spec is what Chevaliers have, but you can't join the actual orginization and become a Chevalier.

I see. I wasn't expecting to join the Chevaliers itself ofcourse, but just a spec like the Champion one.

since you have to 'earn' the specialisations, i beleive it will be from your companions as there are 3 specs per class, and 3 companions per class, makes sense doesnt it?
