Yeah, but isn't that the thing with politicians and most leaders in the MEU? They're all retarded.
Shepard also is btw, he hardly ever (never?) comes up with a plan... just following orders.

So I basically translate the strategy and tactics line to:
"The time to come up with that **** has passed, ladies and gentleman"

Oh and!! To top it all off, the guy that never comes up with a plan gets to make the most important decisions in the galaxy.

...

WHAT?

"I'm sorry"  Change it to,  "Why couldn't your High Command or whatever you call them, given this information earlier? Why wait till now?"

Actually, I would have wanted to ask that question earlier, in Udina's quarters. It would have made more sense then.

However, she's essentially their Secretary of State: a diplomat. She'd tell you she just found out about it herself.

There was so much dialogue that was so poorly written. Like the Shepard being upset about losing Thessia in conversation with Hackett. It was so out of context. In a strategic sense, yes, it was another major ally falling to the invaders. Only the Salarians and the Quarians/Geth. It wasn't explained well that as the major players fell the chances of completing the Crucible dwindled. Maybe that should have been emphasized. Maybe that should have been the focus in the beginning instead of "gathering an alliance to retake Earth." How did we know Earth was going to be the main focus at that point? We didn't, except for the "humans are special" plot which only Shepard and The Illusive Man knew about.

The way I see it, this is likely based off of the assumption that the Crucible is simply a weapon that can be used wherever its users desire once it's completed, and once this "Catalyst" is found and integrated into it, its first destination would be Earth. Since the initiative is Alliance-run, and Earth has the biggest reaper presence this side of Khar'shan, it seems to be the most likely plan.
