So this completely fictional player .. we'll call them MinHurtless .. is pugging and lands in a Gold match with 3 players who are completely over their heads for the difficulty.

Now of course, MinHurtless tries to be a good teammate and do all the revives .. somewhere around wave 4, said player gets a gold medal for revives.

After that point, 2 of these particular players are dropping more often than actually killing bad guys .. should that totally fictional player stop reviving them? OFC that fictional player would still revive them to help with objectives .. but at what point are they supposed to stop as they are spending all their time reviving teammates?

Oh, and those players actually aren't deliberately leeching, they are certainly trying .. just out of their range ..

I've never got the gold revive medal cos I'd never revive that many times. My time would be better spent staying alive and killing things at that point.

if carrying doesn't bother you MinHurtless then sure, revive as often as you MinHurtless can while making sure to be situationally aware enough to not get yourself MinHurtless into harms way, so you MinHurtless can carry them to ultimate victory... either that or just bleed out...

Theres a hidden 50 revives medal that no one knows about because no one has gotten it yet. So if you keep reviving maybe you'll reach it.

:D just kidding. But if there were would that motivate you to keep reviving or is it not worth it?

If they're trying then reviving becomes it's own game to me. "You aren't allowed to die."

But I've enjoyed healer classes in different games before, so /shrug. It's a mentality.

Ultimately, if you get bored, do whatcha want. ;)

Well actually, I think I would have gotten it that match .. scratch that, I mean MinHurtless would have gotten it as they did not stop reviving at the 15 mark .. and the pugling deaths really started to mount after that ...

As long as I can get in and out safely, and they're not obviously trolling, I'll always try to revive teammates. If they're bad enough, though, usually they'll eventually get downed in too hot of a situation for me to make the attempt.

I think, in a situation like that, before you give up on your teammates and stop attempting to revive them, you should try getting on your headset and coordinating with them to get them to change their strategy.  Sometimes players get in over their head, but there's no way for them to know that until they do it.  You can't really blame them.  And they can't get better unless they challenge themselves.  If you could get on the mic and get a battle plan together that was different than whatever they were previously doing, it could solve both problems, and you would be helping them help you in extracting from a Gold, rather than just carrying them through.  That would be better for all involved.

I still have not learned the lesson of 'at this point it is bad to revive or attempt a rescue'  especially if the guy is well away from the group.  I may never learn that lesson.

They might benefit more by watching how a player clutches a wave or two. Learn by seeing the value of always moving, how to use cover, the wisdom of retreating.

@ Matthias - Agreed, this is probably the way to do it. However, I don't like to feel as though I am bossing around the other players, but certainly some passed on in-game knowledge would be beneficial. My real problem with this is my Bluetooth (even being a specific PS3 one) does not stay linked .. can't figure out why .. so every time i go to switch it on I will need 20 - 25 seconds of guaranteed safety to accomplish this, and sadly, in a match as described, that is virtually impossible.

@ Beerfish - I agree, in principle. Having said that, and the reason I wrote this thread, was the extreme example this represented. I'm talking, I would run in and revive them, they would stand up and immediately begin to shoot their weapons at the enemies .. never taking soft or hard cover, and just keep dropping. I kept reviving them (even at the cost of some of my own consumables). At what point would you stop?

@Geezer - Good point .. and there were a couple waves where they were in spectator mode, so hopefully they recognized the soft cover and movement I was using to navigate the enemies ..

@Crash & Dala - i always want to revive, but this was an extreme example

I only revive if I know I can without wasting my own equipment to do so. It doesn't help that I have a faulty controller so any amount of reviving takes considerable effort on my part.

If someone dies across the map, and keeps doing so, or they continually die within a massive group of enemies, I tend to shrug my shoulders and hope they use their med gels judiciously. There's only so much I can do and being a constant babysitter is annoying and stressful.

I think when you spend all your time reviving, like minute after minute, then it´s good time to stop reviving. I mean, when you are at the point, you actually don´t kill anything at all, because you run between players reviving them, the game isn´t moving forward at all.

I like reviving, and it's probably nice for those other guys to be able to run around a bit (and draw enemy fire).

That said, if it's in any way, shape or form more dangerous to revive them than it is for you... I mean, that other guy to survive and clear the wave, I'd let them spectate. when I fall into a game like that I tend to revive a lot less on higher Hey wait a minute... MINHURTLESS IS YOU, ISN'T IT. ISN'T IT????

Yes but at some point taking two guns out of the fight constantly is a bad investment for the team. Everytime someone goes down and doesn't gel it's two less weapons being focused on killing things. Generally I still revive them if I can conveniently but you have equipment and are responsible for managing it wisely.

I always try to revive, regardless of how many times. But once it starts to cost me too much equipment, they're on their own.

I like reviving people coming with my Volus with adrenaline III, cloak and shield boost after, I feel fast and useful like an ambulance at full speed.

Though I think it's a bit ironical that such a selfish caracter that cares only about money is so good at being also the opposite, when not shield boost trolling.

I revive as much as possible but now I do apply a more strict triage protocol. Even so- I still manage to get duped into revive chains

Once you hit 15 revives in the first few waves there is no point in reviving people unless it's strictly for a momentary aggro dump. Generally I have my teammates figured out in the first few waves and generally balance risk/reward of reviving them and consumable usage based on that. I can generally figure out if it's worth the risk to revive them and possibly use an ops or a missile to clear them OR if those consumables are better dedicated to soloing waves going forward. It's a coop game and ideally we should try to help teammates out but most players lose sight that they should at some point decide to play selfishly for the benefit of the  team or just go ahead and concede the wipe.

After a certain point when it becomes clear that someone can't handle gold/plat, I give up on that person and will only revive during objective waves or if they're within my immediate vicinity. If I wanted to constantly revive people, I would've played Surgeon Simulator instead.
