It actually depends on how they went down, example::

if we're fighting Geth and someone gets the s**t stun locked out of them sure. I can empathize with that and will go get them. But if I come across your body and a single husk is flexing over your corpse...I'm leaving you there. But I will kill the hust at least, so if you do decide to splurge on that medi-gel you won't get your ass handed to you again. Until those swarmers come for your lunch money that is

I will revive anyone and as many times as they go down and most of my deaths happen while I am rescuing/reviving others, I like everyone to be involved in the match and enjoying themselves as much as I am. The only exception is that sometimes on objective waves reviving someone may not be a good idea and doing the objective alone may actually be easier.

I've never got the gold revive medal cos I'd never revive that many times. My time would be better spent staying alive and killing things at that point.

I'm glad I've never ever played with you, your a bad teammate.

Whenever possible, I revive. Having 4 players active is always better, even if one of them is doing badly.

If a player is trying to help, and killing stuff (even at a slower rate), I'll revive. I'll go out of my way to revive someone who is making the game go smoothly (a good player or someone who is helping with obj and such) - if I have to use a missile, so be it.

The only times I don't revive are if the downed player is leeching or cheating or acting like an idiot (scorewh*ring via random nuking, cursing on the mic etc).

Had a person in a gold game ready up started wave one, this person runs up on the first spawn and just stand there and dies.Does the same thing wave two and three. From wave four to wave seven I followed this person around and picked his leeching butt up ery time they hit the deck, they quit after the 3rd time picking him up on wave seven, but back to OP sure reviving can be the game within the game...

Like many others have said, I revive when I can. Sometimes you just can't do it without getting yourself killed, but even if the person is in over their head, I prefer to have backup.

I wiped on Hydra last night because a damn Jugg wouldn't stop walking down the ramp and standing in the open, despite having several opportunities to watch me soloing using the control room.  I'm a bit of a compulsive reviver, until I realise it's just a waste of time.  Sadly I realised it when I'd already wasted too many gels.

Max, did you play a game with me a couple of weeks back with a different a/c?  I'm sure I saw someone with a different pun on your name, though I doubted it was you because they didn't hide their missile.  Or beat my score  :P

Wasn't me .. I die a little inside if I am using one of the character / map combos that doesn't allow me to hide my launcher

I'll keep trying to revive anyone indefinitely, even leechers so they will get kicked for inactiviety :P .

But my policy is always that, I only revive if I think I can without getting downed myself or hurting the match's overall success chances. There's no point when I'll entirely stop trying to revive someone, but I always weigh any revive attempt against its cost; if trying to pick someone up decreases the team's chance for success, then I won't.

Usually, when that happens I single out a player who can stand his ground and it develops to a duo.

If it's really all three, I'll usually solo one or two waves, but if I feel it drains my consumables (and at a certain point it usually does) I'd just bleed out the next opportunity and look for another lobby. There are matches where people really fight hard but get unlucky - those are the matches I'm trying hard to win. Even those can be lost, but then I'll stay in the lobby and put on better equipment for the next round.

After all, if you don't make mistakes, how would you get better? I'm not there to win the matches for others.

Hmm, dying inside because you can't do a certain animation on a video game which you have a purely aesthetic preference for? Yeah, I'd say that's a "first world problem"...

I'll revive anyone as long as they're not scorewhoring, spamming Flamer, or making everyone be their Cryo slave.

So this completely fictional player .. we'll call them MinHurtless .. is pugging and lands in a Gold match with 3 players who are completely over their heads for the difficulty.

Now of course, MinHurtless tries to be a good teammate and do all the revives .. somewhere around wave 4, said player gets a gold medal for revives.

After that point, 2 of these particular players are dropping more often than actually killing bad guys .. should that totally fictional player stop reviving them? OFC that fictional player would still revive them to help with objectives .. but at what point are they supposed to stop as they are spending all their time reviving teammates?

Oh, and those players actually aren't deliberately leeching, they are certainly trying .. just out of their range ..

Two words... Self first!

MinHurtless, really max? lol.

I stop reviving if I know they aren't doing anything or are purposely leeching. I only revive if the  person is near me, but I will not go across the map to revive someone especially if there is a high chance I could die trying to revive them. If 3/4 people all go down in one area (outside of an objective wave) I usually take that as a warning that I should avoid going to that side of the map, unless I feel I can take on all the aggro, as I most likely I will die to. It all comes down to wither you have to go out of your way, putting yourself in danger, and diverting potential damage to the enemy to revive people. Every second reviving means 1 second not killing, thus a longer game.

I usually will go out of my way to revive pugs if they aren't leeching or are dying every second. It really depend on how generous I'm feeling. I do like meatshields, as they make me feel pro.

If you want to be a medal cow then ignore everyone above and just keep reviving. I would probably ninja change the difficult next game if I was host or just only use a Common weapon next game, if I was dealing with the same players again.

You can also use ladders to hide your missile launcher for kits that can't hide it with heavy melee, MinHurtless.

One of the best gears in the game for that reason alone.

Some maps don't have ladders. I, too, have felt that pain.
